Kristov Atlas: "... the anonymity provided by darkcoin right now is fairly limited"

He's little bit sceptical about darkcoin lately, but he says it's all about what future developments darkcoin will have.
So he hasn't yet made up his mind, he's just a little sceptical. That's ok, we should always be.

Listen to what he has to say in todays podcast:

Jump to 29:18

http://youtu.be/XVNzvuybscw?t=29m18s

I think he is very well informed + spot on regarding the current state of affairs.

Let's see what Evan comes up with to elevate the quality of anonymity in next RCs.

http://www.darkcoin.io/downloads/DarkcoinWhitepaper.pdf

A scheme using blind signatures is implemented to prove the provided outputs belong to one of
the participants of the pool. Using this strategy neither the master nor other nodes know which
outputs belong to which inputs.

I think right now it's not performed with blind signatures.

you're thinking using a linux home machine? You'd better not, read back some pages about masternode security if you intend to install in your home.

i guess RC4 will have blind when the 10 drk limit will be removed.

You should generate a new address for every payment you receive anyway. If it doesn't come via DarkSend you just DarkSend it to yourself. Mission accomplished.

I hadn't thought of that. That's a relevant point.

Can someone shed some light on this question plz?

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=636272.0
you'd better read the fucking whitepaper dude, dont start stupid FUD and conspiracy threads for something that is already explained clearly in there.

Sure, if you decide to stay anonymous all the time, Anonymity will work fine for you.
But why does it expose YOU when I keep using darkcoin without darksend.
This doesn't make sense.

to hide a signal you need a lot of noise.
if every beep is a signal there is no privacy.

so to build a working privacy-setup,
you need to make it obligatory.

only if noise and signal comes in the same stream
there will be obfuscation.

// if every transaction via darkSend is a transaction that is worth investigating - the fact that it is send via darksend becomes an information.
// if you cant tell why it was via darksend (`?was it becouse it was obligatory or did the sender/reciver needed the privacy?) the darksend transaction is not an information.

// by making it obligatory you a) create more "false positives" and b) create more darksend transactions overall -
// making the investigation a lot more hard work.

DΛRKCOIN -> is now -> DΛSH
----------
not DashCoin, not DarkDash, not anything. The Name has been / is changed the tech stays the same

DarkCoin is the future.  All the other anonymous coin wannabes are proof of that.  Everyone wants to have an anonymous coin, but DarkCoin is the first and the best.

Any price predictions for RC3 ?  Huh

By the way its been quiet at the exchanges, I believe once the forking goes through clean, we will see a massive run-for-the-node capital pour in.

Then early low volume adoption for Darksend to test the grounds (and day trading of course).
I predict a quick rise to 0.25, and a turbulent ride testing 0.03 by month's end with lots of coin dumps for profit.

From RC4 onwards, LTC holders will become incontinent.

I get it, but if I learned one thing in the little cryptography that I studied it's:
security thru obscurity is the worst kind of security.

"Hiding among noise" is not a very good concept.
We will know that we have good mathematical security when we can transact in plain sight, and no longer need to hide, and NSA will STILL not be able to make sense of it.

What fantastic times we live in! I am looking forward to the next breakthrus in anonymity.... will it come from darkcoin? I hope so.
I believe that masternodes open a very large door of possibilities, and could be asigned a lot of different "jobs" in the future, maybe even different jobs, not all of them doing the same thing etc...   Wink

I am hoping Evan will announce details of further features to achieve further anonimity for RC4 after Friday's hardfork. He has been quite secretive about this until now, but RC3 release seems like the right moment to share some more information so that investors know what to expect from RC4. It's also needed because darksend is simply not anonymous enough yet, as it seems.

But they are announced. We know what to expect in RC4 (anon upgrade), even if we don't know the specifics.

Some specifics would be nice, although he probably has his reasons not to share. He probably doesn't want *NAMEOFSCAM* to steal even more features from us.

I'm just worried of the small possibility that he might not know how to achieve further anonimity yet and therefore can't share any details. This is why specifics would be nice to rule out this possibility. Let's just say I invested big in February and am in it with >90% of net worth so I have a lot on the line Smiley
