Is there a lightweight implementation of this? We would like to make a version of Hive that supports it.

Excellent!  Smiley

We need an SPV version of the wallet backend to make this work. Is something like that being worked on yet?

Bump.

I can see a major problem with people choosing different mixing depths having to wait for other people to choose that much depth as well... Better to just find one depth and make it the default. I like the OMGWTFBBQ approach...

It'd be something more along the lines of OMGWTFBBQ+EXTRASAUCE, available to everyone.  I don't have a problem with finding some way to get heavy users to subsidize the added load on the network, per se, should it become apparent that it's an issue.

As someone pointed out, that's an Evan call though.

Sure, but the more thinking out loud we do, the less he has to be distracted.

I like the EXTRASAUCE idea. 10 plop scatterduff... If I spray paint my Mossberg dark blue...  ?

What about inter-mixing? Instead of 1-> 1 -> 1 -> 1, it could recombine and then re-scatter in totally random groupings. Would help the inter-mix TXs take up less space and possibly increase perceived entropy... Fat would become negligible and this whole discussion pointless. Or maybe I'm just reading Evan's mind again...

I have DRK fat stacks and I'm fine with the idea. But there is the point that it is meant to be integral. Why should I get better anon just because I can afford it? Well, duh. That answers itself. BECAUSE I CAN AFFORD IT. Same reason I'm buying a Tesla Model S and you're not. Fairness has not a damn thing to do with it.

But your point is still valid. I guess it really depends on how this fattens the blockchain. Those adding fat should pay a little more. And they should pay it to the people who have to host it and mix it, the MNs. But, the bottom line question is really not there... We know there is a disparity, but is it enough to care?

Is it enough fat to warrant charging more?

In my view, fat should always need a proportional price to pay to prevent bloat attacks. If someone wants to bloat the blockchain with zero cost or low cost, that's a problem. You need to penalize attackers who can add gigabytes of bloat for peanuts (in terms of cost).

I think you'd need about 90%+ compliance to prevent forking, and competitors could just start using old clients deliberately... We'd get some forkage.

I agree, but the socialists want to turn the argument backwards and make it a "No fair, he gets to buy more anon!" I get to buy more ammo, too! Come and take it!

But the way logic is chasing this discussion, I think any bloat would be negligible to the point that it doesn't matter. Oh, and another cool idea... If it were 10 deep, change could be issued at different depths... What a mess! No way anyone would ever trace that shit...

Try a darkcoin.conf with a bunch of addnode=[knowngoodsource] to help.

It's a crutch, but it works. Really helps me since I force my client behind TOR. Not that it helps anon, but with buttloads of TOR traffic in and out of my IP, plenty gets lost in the mix...

Someone else might be able to give you a list of good nodes to add. Or you could just look cuz it's mentioned almost every 10 pages...

Code:
$ cat ~/.darkcoin/darkcoin.conf
addnode=23.23.186.131
$
Not much in my local darkcoin.conf - But without it, I can't get a chain from behind TOR to save my life.

As a note, you won't be restricted to that node, it's just a way to tell the client to "look THERE!" I currently have 5 active connections from behind horrible TORpipe.

Rolling inputs, rolling outputs, random change exits... Oh, I'm about to have a braingasm.... Rolling TXes would also be a hell of a barrier against forking, too...

Download the latest client, 9.11.6 or 10.11.6 (with darksend)  No addnodes needed.  I tried it out.  Took about 8 seconds to connect, then 15 minutes to download the blockchain from scratch (no config file, no peers, nothing)
