It is a good idea to list the exchanges on darkcoin.io, HOWEVER:

http://www.darkcoin.io/using-darkcoin/buy-darkcoin/exchanges/

It is nonsense sorting the exchanges alphabetically. Top 2 places have to be reserved for
Mintpal and Cryptsy as this is where 80% of the coin is traded. Possibly Bitfinex or some other exchange based on total value of the latest trade - http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/darkcoin/#markets

There is no reason to list exchanges that have 0 trade in weeks - it just upsets the prospective investors. On the other hand, if one goes to let's say Mintpal and sees that DRK is no. 1 or 2 and the market is liquid, they are much more likely to invest!

lol and the german accent video is on the front page ...
why  Huh

a) Its vertoe
b) highest respect for the man
c) community work, not payed
d) definitely need a multi-language, "pro", version, without "weird and creepy" linux stuff for the masses

How do we make that happen ?
What do you need ?

Fully agree - the Vertoe's video was great for testers and it is not aimed at general audience.
With the Open Source and media campaign there will be lot of newbies coming to the website and the tech stuff will discourage them.

The intro video should explain advantage of DRK compared to BTC (stop comparing against $ - our target market knows BTC so no more explanation of 24/7 low-cost decentralised payments), mention the fact that DRK is the only audited anonymous crypto and how to buy it on mintpal / cryptsy.

It is investment we need so the material has to reflect it.

We're really happy with the new site. Thanks to Raze, Vertoe, Walter, Minotaur, Matt, Fernando and Flare for making it happen! This new site can have content added on the fly, so we should be able to grow it and add videos like that easily.

Exciting times Evan  Smiley My hat is off to you and all the members of the Darkcoin community.

Every moment is like a falling leaf. Seize the moments within the moment.

Agreed. The exchanges should be sorted based on volume (that means a script should read out the APIs of all mentioned exchanges regularly, e.g. once per day).
Like coinmarketcap does on their darkcoin overwiew site.... (hm, coinmarketcap is down for me ATM)

Yes - dynamic sorting would be ideal and we should go for it. However if that is too time consuming for the moment, we should just manually move mintpal & cryptsy above  and separate these from the rest of the exchanges as these have been top 2 exchanges for months now.

That would literally take 5 minutes of work for everyone who has an FTP access to the website  Smiley

Doesn't take much longer to make the API calls with PHP, then process the data and use it to sort the table.

Mintpal:
https://api.mintpal.com/v1/market/stats/DRK/BTC
gives back a JSON object and you simply have to read out the 24hvol variable. It gives you back the volume in BTC.

Cryptsy:
http://pubapi.cryptsy.com/api.php?method=singlemarketdata&marketid=155
DRK Market is nr.155
Read the variable "volume". It's in amount of DRK, so you have to multiply it with the variable "lasttradeprice" to get the volume in BTC.

Bittrex:
https://bittrex.com/api/v1.1/public/getmarketsummary?market=btc-drk
JSON Variable "BaseVolume" for volume in BTC.

Bter:
http://data.bter.com/api/1/ticker/drk_btc
Variable "vol_btc"

Allcoin:
https://www.allcoin.com/api1/pair/drk_btc
Read out variable "volume_24h_BTC"

etc for the rest of the exchanges.

Don't worry about it! The only way today's price affects you is if you were going to SELL today...if not, don't worry about the day-to-day price fluctuations and be secure in the knowledge that this coin has something to offer long term. That's where the focus should be. Stop driving yourself crazy! Just my 2 Duffs.

Fair point.
Would still do the lazy instant static interim solution and then hope someone will work on the sorted list with market volumes  Grin

I understand, and I agree with you that this is important.
Allcoin, the first exchange in the list, has a volume of ZERO, so it is completely ridiculous to list it as first exchange, lol.
https://www.allcoin.com/api1/pair/drk_btc
Wait, even the second exchange has a volume of zero. This list is seriously messed up and should be fixed immediately.

So I will keep updating my original post with all the API links I figure out, and what variable has to be read, maybe this will make the job easier for the darkcoin.io webmaster.
Then he can't really have any excuses anymore why he won't implement this... Wink

The intro video should explain advantage of DRK compared to BTC (stop comparing against $ - our target market knows BTC)
BUMP Agree, there are many FIAT not only $, what we want is to attrack BTC people to use DRK

I disagree. If you have a rifle, you hunt big game, not cockroaches.

Still think we should focus at convincing BTC adopters to get into DRK rather than aiming at average Joes - that way we do not have to focus on explaining crypto basics that bore everyone to death.

In the longterm you are obviously right
