Looks like someone is saying to hell with BTC and getting into DRK. I can't blame them either. BTC looks like its going to capitulate to $300-$350 where as DRK :

is looking much better. Hopefully this trend continues and it makes another run to break that resistance and put us back at 0.01 floor.

I'd like to thank eduffield and the other developers for this critically important evolution in virtual currency. DarkCoin is what bitcoin should have been. Some might call it "Bitcoin 2.0" but would do better by saying: "DarkCoin is digital cash." - Child Harold - February 28, 2014

You guys should take a look at joining Fortress Crypto Investments. Lots of upcoming opportunities are known by us first. No pump & dumps, just solid picks to point your BTC towards. It's a nice change from the regular groups you see. The amount of support I get from them is fantastic too. You can use code "Zurg" when you join aswell.

Not impressed.. lot of generic shutterstock images and some claims that I would really like to see substantiated. Could you throw us a proof of your early DRK investments? Otherwise the claims of your past 10000% RoI look fairly weak.

I'd say put people on your list who are famous tax protestors:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tax_protester_history_in_the_United_States

Quote
A tax protester is a person who denies that he or she owes a tax based on the belief that the constitution, statutes, or regulations do not empower the government to impose, assess or collect the tax.

My favourites:

  • Larken Rose
  • Wesley Snipes
  • Irwin Schiff (father of Peter Schiff)

Those are people who are not afraid to go to prison (!) for their conviction.

It's always a scam guys, ALWAYS. No one shares info which is worth a lot of money to tons of people, the markets are too thin and illiquid for many people to be able to profit from it.

Hi there, another of my basic MN security questions to the enlightened crowd:

Is there any real danger in someone getting their hands on the remote config file with these values?

rpcuser=reallylongusername
rpcpassword=veryveryverylongpw
masternodeprivkey=7..._Masternode_Private_Key

the 1,000 DRKs should be still safe in the local wallet, right? Just want to be sure Smiley

Sorry guys - but new site doesn’t look like like promo site of «first and only already working, easy and ready to use anonymous coin» for ordinary people.
It looks like techno-blog for crypto-geeks testing prototype who already know everything about Darkcoin.

So this new site is great for active adepts of Darkcoin - OK. But to attract new people - IMO we need smth like https://bitcoin.org site.

May be we need to have bouth 2 sites:
1. Promosite to attract users-investors with professional design, usability, promo articles, video, ... with simple interface (strong selling site). Click to understand -> Click to download -> Click to buy. No distracting info.
2. Techno-blog with all the information for adepts that already use Darkcoin and intrested in RS, mining pools, updates and all such stuff ...

+1
Like the "First and only fully-functional and easy-to-use anonymous coin."

The first thing newbies see now is some Mandatory update that sounds like the coin was broken & needed an urgent fix. Not the best key selling message.

Also - the first line of definition people may still read is soooo boring: Darkcoin (DRK) is an anonymous digital currency based on the Bitcoin software. - To me it sounds very much like just another BTC clone.
Totally agree. The new site is quite poor in terms of design, layout and presentation. This site undersells our technology.  Even the old site was better. I'm a bit disappointed. We need some pros to build a site for us.

The site's new design is nice IMO.

It is hard to please everybody... Tongue  Tongue  Tongue

I also like colors, fonts and so on - but not the structure/content.

You see - site have to be good not «in general» - but good for it’s main goal.

And the main goal for Darkcoin in 2014-2015 IMO is PR and attracting new users (Bitcoin’s users at the first stage).
So logistic is: user reads a press release (gets friend’s advice and so on…) -> goes to our site -> understands that Darkcoin is great -> Downloads wallet -> Buys coins. That's it - goal is done!

If user needs additional information - we send him to forum-wiki-blog-support’s site with all additional info.

So for this particular goal best site doesn't mean most beautiful. For us best site = site with best ratio "number of visitors / number of downloads / number of bought DRKs".

So sending you friends/wife/colleagues to the different sites and monitoring the number of wallet’s downloads and amounts of DRK buys - we can definitely say which site is really better or worse…

Sorry for my bad English - hope my opinion is clear...
Guys, I propose to revert to the previous site until all the content has been sorted out. We can't have a website up at open source without final content. Finish the new website, then replace it with the old one. That is the correct order. Having a non-finished website up looks amateurish and could hurt open source event.

Edit : to be honest i think we will have a difficult time convincing the pools that pay only 10% MN right now (18.77% of the pools) to switch to 20% MN payout
so i think it will be a waiting game untill Evan decides to activate the switch and enforces it.

I think Evan wanted to give everyone at least a week to update before bringing the hammer down.  I suspect if we have 90% tomorrow, we'll get the nail inserted  Tongue

Open source mustn't necessarily mean that its going to be published under a GPL or CC license.
The code could be open sourced, but with a proprietary license, limiting the rightful use to real developments based on the concept.
Why not...?

because open means open Smiley

Looking forward to the open sourcing, big step in the right direction for darkcoin.

No, it doesn't.
Look at Adobe as an example. PostScript is open source.
But it doesn't mean you can copy the code over and build your own machine based on it.
If you do that, a license fee applies.

I think you missed the meaning of what I was saying.

Any trademarks, patents, special licenses in crypto are going to be bad because one of the strengths of crypto is it's 'openness' meaning its free to do whatever you want without restriction and everything is transparent.

I always thought the closed sourcing of drk was holding it back, now hopefully it will start to get more appreciation and trust and can start to grow as a serious currency IRL.

Just want to say here that if you can't afford to enforce a restriction, it's worthless.  However, I can see a restriction such as, "if you use our technology, you must give us credit".  I think the crypto community would agree to that being very reasonable, and enforce it on alts that use the technology.  I would think "Darkcoin technology by Evan Duffield" is very reasonable.

Sir Crouton:

Do you have pages / threads up for your various projects? If not, why not?

Mostly no, because people would harass me.

"You've done that wrong, it should do this instead, are we there yet, make it sing, why the fuck isn't it blue, forget about your shitty stuff and come work unpaid on my shitty stuff instead, why is it fucking blue..." etc.  Grin

p2p market progressing slowly, encrypted comms, totally volatile, currently debating how much RAM I can get away with demanding from each connected client.   Undecided

How does openmarket work?  I thought it could be modified for our purposes?  Or is this what you're doing and it's not so easy?  LOL (none of this would be easy or even possible for me!  LOL)
