What happened here ? Did DRK catch a Bitbay cough ? I don't claim to have any particular expertise in such matters but I personally think that an individual or small group is dumping for some reason. BTC performance is hardly festively cheerful. Maybe a mixture of crypto-gloom and one bag holder selling up causing the drop. Just my tuppence h'appeny. Which ironically is only a little bit less than I had to pay for the two masternodes worth of DRK that I have bought today. It's the retard who never did anything positive for the project who finally got kicked out of the team who is dumping his coins now.

I think it has something to do with btc going down and someone wanted to sell btc for fiat. Nothing to do with drk

Oh ffs :*(
I just got home to find that ~1000DRK is missing from one of my mac wallets with very strong passcode.
I lost ~6BTC by what I thought was a trojan recently too (windows PC).
I'm starting to freak out that my wifi has been compromised. This is just fucking shit. I've invested right up to the limit of what I can afford in Darkcoin and the last thing I need right now is to lose investments.
Fuck this. Fuck this. Fuck this.
EDIT: Removed tipping address through paranoia and revised lost amount down as realised that one of the wallets is in tact still.

how do you protect passwords on your pc? Nothing other than very strong passphrase, cleared from console if used there. BTC were lost when I unlocked my wallet to send a payment. As for what has happened on my mac I have no idea.

Hm, I do not own any drk's atm but decided today that perhaps i should set up a MN, i've read some time ago their was a vulnerability with them that let an attacker steal the MNs coins. Now someone loses them again above, MN's still not safe?

That (Edit : stoneedge history not the post just before this one) exactly why I really don't like when we have to re-start the MaterNode from local wallet : Fisrt we have to put the wallet hot (from cold storage), then we have to enter the passphrase.
If something could be done about this should be great : that only need to start it once in local then can keep the wallet in cold for ever.
Edit for jahl : and no, no risk to run MN, just the "normal" risk equal/same as to have a wallet on your PC/box at home...
Edit 2 : May be for the passphrase make a virtual keyboard on the screen with randomly key position (like it is is some banking site...). Like this no keylogger posible...

Neither of the affected wallets are associated with masternodes. There is no vulnerability specific to Darkcoin that allows an attacker to steal coins, especially not from a hot/cold masternode setup. EDIT: It just dawned on me that even though both passphrases were 48 char alphanumeric, the two wallets involved were using the same passphrase. The other x number of wallets that I have on these computers have unique passphrases.

I've got Eset on my PC but obviously that isn't enough. EDIT: I have a complex SSID and complex passphrase for WPA2 for my wifi. No unauthorised devices have accessed according to AP logs. Theft can't be internal as only copy of passphrases is encrypted and protected by 2FA. Have been meaning to tell my wife how to get into our wallets for sometime should something happen to me. There is a fileshare on my mac that could in theory be used to access wallet.dat from my PC. I'm guessing I've got a series of failures on my part to unravel.

Thanks for suggestions everybody. I'm just going to nuke the PC, Linux it up and change everything that can be changed.
There you go...first stupid public loss admitted by a darkcoin team member? Please learn from my mistakes. When I've had time to analyse fully what has happened I will post here to advise others.

Try malwarebytes first' see if it can find some malware or trojan out of curiousity ESET has a trojan in quarantine that I don't recall seeing an alert about. I'll scan shortly. In the meantime I'm off to the pub.

What about the blockchain, where did the funds go ?! Damn Hard to explain, feeling a bit paranoid having my first ever security breach a few days after revealing my real identity to the world. I've made things safe and now I need some time to think things through and calmly lay out what happened. I'm confused myself now. Will report back publicly in a bit.
