sorry guys, we can't rebrand. this coin is simply too beautiful to rebrand. lets end this discussion for the next 1000 pages.
Any rebrand if it came to it should keep the existing D logos and font type. It's far more established than changing to something with a different starting letter. As such, your images would all be fine.

Rebranding should try to keep: * The same letters in the current name, preferably in the same order * The same colours would be great * The same overall shape of the D * The same, err, everything Shall we get a bounty for the rebranding?

@Strix, good post and thank you for bringing it up. I think the message is that we are all open to be flexible but we need to let the market drive the direction in which we will ultimately go. Basically, lets not solve a problem that doesn't exist yet, with the understanding that we will all remain vigilant and that if it is ever an issue or if an opportunity arises that requires us to move in a different direction and it makes sense we will be open to do it. So our position as a community should remain fluid, there is no need to be conclusive at this time. We move on as Darkcoin we revise it every few months and see where we are.
Thanks Minotaur, I agree 100%. FWIW, and to give credit where it is due, I didn't start the subject. I just jumped on the conversation YourMother, dazbarlby, and oblox, had going. I agree with others also. This is not the time or venue for more on this topic. Peace to you all

So the logo isn't going to be my genitalia then? Thats me out of the renaming debate...
Serious question: I read that the block reward is going to be reduced by 7% soon. Can somebody give me a newbie explanation on what effects we might see as a result?

yes 7% annual decrease. Hmmm logicaly less coins mined = price up... but there is no logic in crypto ® Thanks mate. Logically there is less reward for miners and masternode owners but difficulty should adjust if network hashrate drops...but then again price goes up (in theory) so hopefully everything stays the same apart from the price Is the reduction happening on our first birthday?

unless I missed something - that's pretty much going after child porn - which I welcome them to take down - those bastards are scum Agreed. Privacy is a right we are all entitled to and I believe in that wholeheartedly. Child pornography is one use case where ecash is actually a negative thing. We can't keep them from using it for illegal purposes, but I find it disturbing that anyone in our community were to get excited about Darkcoin's adoption for these purposes. I would rather see our currency fail altogether than get rich off the back of it getting used for child porn. Let's push for legal use cases aimed at privacy only. Not that there's any evidence yet that child porn sites are using DRK, but still, I don't even want the appearance of an association with it.

Logical, I should have known that. We are actually averaging about 566 blocks per day since launch, not quite the 574 for which the code aims. Based on that average, it will take 371 or 372 days, not 365 to hit block 210240. Therefore, we will likely hit that block on about Jan 25th or Jan 26th, not the one year anniversary of 1/19/2015.

Let me start by saying that the brand Darkcoin has been instrumental in helping us get the exposure we have had so far and attracting investors. Evan is still refining Darksend and InstantX is still on the works, there are many things missing.
I think we should move forward promoting adoption with Darkcoin and see how far we can take it. I think there are many things we could do if the need arises like creating OEM wallets with special branding for specific purposes. For example, for an international funding situation, in which we launch a special client called HelpMalala, is downloaded from her website but powered by Darkcoin and when you buy malalas you are actually buying DRK. Is just an idea.
On the other hand, if we are eventually re branding I think it should be opportunity driven, I dont like the idea of re branding just because we feel it might be an issue in the future. I would like for it to be a little more real. For example, if we talk to Bitpay and they say they are willing to add and support Darkcoin if we change the name to Dash. Then cool we might go for it but we are guaranteed a big leap in adoption by changing the name.
For now, I think Darkcoin is perfect, it attracts attention and people engage with us. Time is also an important factor as businesses and the regulators see that it isn't really a big deal they will slowly adopt and be cool. I think is very hard to be able to anticipate what is going to happen in the crypto world so we might just have to adapt as things become more clear.
Well said, sorry for losing faith, LOL
