According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Welp. That fixed it. These should never have been sold as "dual" miners.....

They should have better control software...that's where the issue with stability is at.  Instead of the tiny TP-Link based controller modules they should have created solid software which worked with RasPi or some other such devices to offer a solid mining experience.

I guess some of it we have to take on the chin though as early adopters.

Well I plugged it directly into a pc and it works perfectly. I think this means my controller is bad?

Found it. Pins on the USB port of the plug were mangled. Managed to straighten it out with needle and micro screw drivers. Probably won't last though.

Also what causes the lockups and need for reseting the current miners, is it in the chips themselves or the interface circuitry.
The miners itself, as well as the usb hub are definitely not the problem. I've connected them to a Raspberry Pi, running cpuminer it's rocksolid!
No lockups at all. Right now I'm testing this with cgminer which looks very promising.

Another nice thing to know:
First I used the original PSU's. With 2 PSU's and 10 miners the complete system was running 90Watt @ 850Mhz (scrypt without fans).
I swapped the two PSU's for a platinum rated 450Watt PSU. Now the complete system is running 70Watt @ 850Mhz (scrypt without fans).

Thanks for the info, good to know as would not want to put out all that money for a 15Mhs unit
and have the same lockup issues as the individual miners. As for the power supply maybe the power
supply does not have enough balls for the peak demand current that 10 of the miners draw?

Script only with no fans, ONE china power supply works just fine for 10 miners. Using a Pi and works great.
Ditch the Jack controller or wiibox and get a Pi. remember, script only only uses 1 amp per 10!

Interesting reading this amazing how the better PSU gets even better energy savings! Anyone have opinion of the best PSU to order would be appreciated.

I know it depends on if you dual mine, but please let me know what would be your first choice. (PS I am looking at ordering the cablez custom ATX loom for these)

That was the point of my post!!!
Its using ONE AMP!!! around 70 watts, what kind of saving is there using a top of the line P/S? not much!
Sure if it was burning thru 8 amps then sure go for it.

Check  the efficiency for ex. of this nice  PSU: http://www.corsair.com/en-us/ax1200i-digital-atx-power-supply-1200-watt-80-plus-platinum-certified-fully-modular-psu
Under 20% /230V input doesn't matter much and this goes with all high end PSUs.

Thanks bobby, just interested in going over to a safer, stable and more compact PSU using the cablez new loom.

Overall I am trying to make this set as compact as possible using less stuff and much less wiring.

PS I know its miniscule but saving a few watts is a bonus!

Is this normal?

Only 1 or 2 miners work at a time. None of them achieve any respectable speeds. Restarts every 10 minutes.

Surely this isn't normal.....
dual mode, pls choose 750.

I'm assuming the 15Mhs uses 250 gridseed chips?

It should perform at 15-20Mhs just like the 3Mhs packs run at 3-4Mhs

Total power (6w ea for 5 chip device * 50) 300W?

less than 450w.

How much do those cables costs as I was hoping to order one for my Gridseed ASIC as soon as it arrives (as I'm not sure those industrial looking PSUs are safe due to exposed wiring.)?

I want price in BTC and GBP plus shipping as I'll pay via PayPal (easier to keep track of things as BTC is untraceable and therefore a pain in the butt for guys like me)

Thanks Smiley

I'd love to get my hands on v2 of the controller software.  After two weeks of use, I have yet to wake up to functioning miners.

I'm running the v2 controller I'm finding I get just as many restarts as v1 but yeh it does restart them if they totally die
