Im in support of a takeover if the dev is nowhere. Why do you seek the permission of the dev to do this anyway? I'm sure if we all chip in with various projects and hire some sort of manager or managers then why would the dev complain about this anyway even if they came back?

If they were in support of not screwing the rest of us over, they'd have left the keys to the infrastructure with someone when they left.
And yes, I am pretty angry now, I've trusted/defended the dev multiple times and once they'd cashed out their early mining efforts, pretty much just left the rest of us looking like a bunch of mugs.
The bit that REALLY gets me is the name's going to be wasted if we can't pick this up and get it ticking along properly again.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

The coin has support. I can't believe it would be that difficult to take over.

What I might suggest is pooling together a Cashcoin bounty for someone to do the hard fork for us. A trusted member of the Cashcoin community can hold the bounty. We all chip in a bit, and announce it in the main Alternate cryptocurrencies section that we're looking for someone to help with a hard fork, who then hands over the necessaries to the community leader of the coin.

All the pools and exchanges will need to be contacted about the fork, and it will have to be executed properly. No half-baked fork. Smooth transition. Then we can discuss where Cashcoin goes from here.

I like the name and think it was a fair and continues to be a very fair coin... now needs some futher development. It's a good start that it has a cryptsy market... needs to just be called CASH and get a nicer logo too really. Primarily though it needs some cool stuff to use cash for.

I am still holding my cash and sad the dev has vanished.

I was here at the very start, i do not think the dev mined these early coins .... i was mining early as were are few others. I like cash let's hope it can make a comeback. Really though all alts are starting to crash lately... a lot of crypto money died with gox. The market it going to take a while to recover.

What block reward were you getting at that point, the first couple hundred were up around 100 per block, but even now at around 1 difficulty it's still around 20.
I'd not looked at it properly before this weekend.

Ok now my wallet is saying checkpoint too old redownload block chain. What do I do?

Nothing. Wallet will still work, we're working on updating the checkpoint server.
Search this thread for that message, you'll find dozens of responses to that very question.

Things are happening behind the scenes to re-do the entire design. Also if that happens, an online casino and a hardware store will be open accepting CASH.

Not sure if a fork is needed, not clued up on that, but it just needs a few BTC buys and to bring hashing back towards 1Ghs. When re-design and marketing are done, it will be fairly easy to bring back interest.

Technology behind the coin is 2nd to none, CASH name can be a burden but also a boon, just needs interest.

Coinmarket Cat prowls once again.

buy support for cash was low from the very start. we all gambled that investors would eventually see the potential with this coin and jump on it. as it stands now, i think cash may have too high a stake. as well the block rewards must halve or reduce block reward by some percentage more regularly. other than that it's perfect.

im still holding my cash and mining some here and there as its obvious that cash will definitely take a while to pick up. a longer while than we were all hoping for. it requires alot of investment so for one i think maybe our community is too small. lastly, someone did mine a tonne of cash from the start.. at least 1million maybe more. whether that was the dev or not we may never know. but id be up for a slightly modified version of cashcoin.

if we think that the dev has too much cashcoin and is dumping on us then that would mean we'd have to abandon this coin altogether. but we can also look at cashcoin as longterm based on the block halving rate. if cash doesnt fall off the exchange.. give it 4 years or so and im willing to bet it will be at the 1 dollar mark steady. maybe better. it's a big gamble. but im not dumping or selling. the low diff and investor interest means we can all pick some up here and there during the course of the year and build up our stash. but i would support endeavours to make a coin we think would be an improvement upon cash and why it has failed to gather interest as of yet must have to do with the very long block halving periods.

i suppose in the end, it seems cash did fail to achieve one of its primary goals.. to prevent dumping but still.. by the numbers im seeing on the exchanges.. it would seem alot of cash is being withheld from the markets still so im not too sure we have a dump problem so ill stick to the fact being low investor interest.. and that must be because cash is not rare enough yet. it will need time. so we'll just have to pace our investment.

either way, any new developments we'd like to undertake for a different version of cashcoin would have my support. hopefully we will get a response from the dev at some point and see if he is willing to help us with another project. cash is indeed an innovative coin that works so maybe he feels like he doesnt need to be around since everything regarding cash technologies is working. hopefully he is also working in the background to grab investors. but i guess if everything is working.. then the dev really has no need to be on the forum every day.

sorry for wall of text. just typing my thoughts on the subject.

p.s. - one question.. if an investor did come around tomorrow and pump cash to .001btc would you say you had enough? we have all this time now to stash cash as long as its cheap and diff is low. use the time to get closer to having 1mill cashcoin ;p but we'll just have to adjust our thinking to a longterm investment. 2-5 years or more. what choice do we have if ur like me and refuse to sell cash for 2 cents each lol

Quick Update for the forum:

There are several of us that are looking to take control of CASH.  We simply ask for your patience while we sort out the hows and who's of the take over.

As to the original Dev, I'm more inclined to say something happened to him.  I doubt very much that he would have just abandoned this, and it was way too sudden.  There was no pre-mine, no insta-mine, 10 whole blocks for testing then he released it.  That equated to 1000 coins, which in the first few days people were making more than that per hour.  Not much of a chance of a dump and run by the dev.  Wouldn't have made much.

As to the low price/interest in the coin on exchanges.   Well, that can be fixed just by getting the word out about CASH.  Dev was supposedly in process of getting publications out, but I only saw 2 articles posted on some "back water" crypto websites.

What you can do to help:

Basically, for now, just keep mining.  I just checked the links for the pools listed in the OP, and surprisingly, all of the are still working.  Not all of them have people mining at them, but there were no errors.  Spread the word.  I've put my Hash where my mouth is, and turned off the anon account over at  http://cash.minebig.com to prove my support for this coin.  (course I blew another GPU last night...  dang power outages)

Wallet error:

If you are seeing the "checkpoint is old" error, ignore it.  Everything seems to be working fine.  Once we get things switched around, we'll implement a new check point system and that error should go away.

From me personally:

I want everyone to know, I'm commited to keeping this coin going.  I've burned a lot of hash, lost 3 GPU's, 2 PSU's and a MB, along with a TON of electric these last 2 months.  I've yet to sell a single coin.  I'll post my transaction if I have to in order to prove it.  Maybe I'm a fool....  Who knows...

When all else fails, trust in CASH!

I'm here because Cashcoin is a good concept. I know there is no proof and it is just speculation, but I think the coin was simply abandoned when it didn't meet the expected hype when it hit Cryptsy. I could be completely wrong, but maybe not.

I am not averse to the idea of perhaps changing the block reward structure. Provided it has overall community consensus.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and yes this is the easy route to take.  I won't blame anyone for thinking this way.

However, nothing comes from taking the easy road.  If you want something, it takes hard work and sacrifice.  Even if the dev moved on to another coin, he's left us a gift that we have an opportunity to take what he started and create a coin ran by a community.  I'm willing to do this, any one else?

Now, anyone that wants to dump their coins feel free to send them to the address in my SIG.  Coins will be used for the reworking of CASH.

When all else fails, trust in CASH!

Thanks for writing the post Alt, GJ

I'm here because Cashcoin is a good concept. I know there is no proof and it is just speculation, but I think the coin was simply abandoned when it didn't meet the expected hype when it hit Cryptsy. I could be completely wrong, but maybe not.

I am not averse to the idea of perhaps changing the block reward structure. Provided it has overall community consensus.

I'm not sure about this, the Dev mined a hell of a lot of coins in the early days An address I know to be the Dev's and was actively transferring them after he'd stopped logging in here, so I can't imagine something 'happened' to him.

Regardless of what the Dev's intentions, we have a good coin here and being in the hands of the community rather than singular control is far better IMO and will be more attractive to others if it's being controlled in an open and transparent manner, which, if I've going to be involved in its development, that's how it'll be. Just need folks to bare with us while we get things going.

The Dev's dead, long live the community!

This coin was launched Jan 20th and abandoned by the dev(s) already ??
Any details on the PSO methodology ??
It starts at 10% ( annual ?? ) and then what ??
What's the "aging" time for the coins prior to earning "stake"
I assume that the stake % declines over time ..
Does anyone know what that schedule looks like ??

The Name/symbol and POS are features that should support the coin's
value going forward .. Just need some developers to step in ..

Someone should contact the Dev for HBN ..
"Tranz"
He's done  a great job with that coin and could fix what's wrong here ..

Triff ..

30 day stake payouts
Stakes winds down to 1%, don't KNOW yet but should take a few years to get to 2-5% or so I'd imagine.

We need more people to step up and help get this coin moving again.
We only have 4 people so far who have offered their services.
If you're wanting 'others' to do all the work so you can profit, then we'll all fail.

Please, email cryptocashcommunity@gmail.com or PM myself with your offer of assistance, be it CASH donation, offer of skills you have, people you know could help, ideas for CASH promotion, ways to improve the coin, whatever. The power of many is greater than the few!

Well i'd chip in to hire someone to hard fork if we are going to take it over.

Would this be the first altcoin to ever be taken over by the community?
