From Nick over on cryptocointalk, reposting here: ================================= A summary from the team: The SolarCoin foundation has been busy working away. The emphasis has been on focusing on the bigger mission of incentivizing solar electricity and the solar community. SolarCoin is now on an exchange with others likely to follow. The pilot granting for Solar electricity generators is underway to a solarcity generator in the US (there are expected to be 120,000 solarcity households in the US soon. We hope many of them pursue grants using their meter links and API's). Early grants were given in the US, with Germany, Japan, Australia and Italy to Follow soon. Outreach team is contacting some of the biggest solar energy generating facilities globally and pursuing broad reach span to grow the economy of holders and participants. Outreach team is pursuing charities for matching SLR grants. A mac client is also due for release in a few days. www.solarcoin.org the news section of the SolarCoin site will be updated in the coming days. SolarCoin is likely a 40 year project so things take time as deep thinking is involved. Everyone's patience is appreciated.==================================== Sweet, solarcoin made it to an exchange: https://www.allcrypt.com/market?id=229

yay! No more getting ripped off by FABULA or ROCKRABBIT. The exchange will show us what this coin is really worth ... It looks like right now 1 solarcoin is worth $0.01, but for most coins the exchange price drops sometime during the first week or two, so I may hold out until it is worth $0.001 and then buy a few. About a month ago, the dev's said they would start handing out solarcoins in a "few weeks", and there is no sign of that happening yet. Until that starts to happen, this coin is overvalued at the price of 1cent.

Market orders were initially at 16,000 satoshi, and now they are down to below 1,000. Pretty soon, it could hit 100 satoshi, and what would be the point of mining this at that level?

It would be nice to see some other pools get some hashing power. Cryptopoolmining has the majority of it still. It is a good pool though, so it's tough to leave. My hashing power isn't significant enough to move that needle. LOL

Until that starts to happen, this coin is overvalued at the price of 1cent. at the current price of 984s the founder's solarcoin hoard has a theoretical value of $600M. To be accurate, the generation pool (those given out to people who generate solar power) is worth about $600 million at these prices. The Genesis Pool is worth just over $3 million. The Genesis pool is described as follows: 500 Million SolarCoins (0.509%) in the genesis pool account representing environmental charities, early volunteers, advisers, builders and maintainers of SolarCoin infrastructure will circulate. Genesis pool circulation is restricted to never being more than 5% of total SolarCoin in circulation. See here http://solarcoin.org/faq-frequently-asked-questions/ under the question "How are SolarCoins allocated." But it's not even worth $3 million if you apply the "5% of coins in circulation" rule. The only coins in circulation right now are the mined coins for the most part and that would be around 9,000,000 coins or so (90,000 blocks X 100 block reward). So 5% of that is worth about $2,700. Yeah, the Devs are making a killing but only if they completely disregard the rules they've set in place.

Have you guys checked the blockchain to see if the premined coins aren't already on the move?

Vexatious, I'm with you brother. It's only that there is inherent trust in such a system, when all the coins pretty much already exist, that the devs/founders will do what they say.
Speaking of that it has been pretty quiet since the media rush about a month ago.

I check every few days. Still there. Care to share all the addresses that hold the premine? See here: http://solarcoin.org/solarcoin-oca-accounting-transparency/From that link: The accounts holding the 98 billion SolarCoins can be found in the publicly available SolarCoin BlockChain. The BlockChain ledger is maintained by the SolarCoin network of miners and wallet holders. For logistics sake the reserve accounts have been managed into sub-accounts. These transfers involved minor transaction fees paid to the network in an amount less than 10 SLR in aggregate.
The accounts are listed below:
8Kau7tve5QoGKNMHomDr2tHcAMmqUN2zYu 8Lv6jBL1AZ4Emdeaen8Q7aUp9XrJjChzRo 8SQAaMMWTKLHQ2ZX7Pov5DUqvJpAECY3LD 8eBF8zfYdMhqz9uKMiZZLvVttfGNhBr2dk 8FvhwTFyaQ2zoihp5kSubEc7DsgSwjvRNS 8dcVBk6Fszsx47r7AjSRN9FRG6BBZzFrDE 8HXLLWUaKg4T5NBWiFeUVtdNDxfv1D2S6i 8YVEmgenUoQi1hCAUdvAtrV2vSEeyi37Xp
All accounts are encrypted and stored in secure facilities offsite using offline cold wallets. Access requires multiple individuals and 3rd party verifications. Various operational and technical security protocols are in place to insure that no single individual process or person may access the accounts.
