I hope that the rape n dumps don't kill this coin. What can be done to prevent the SLR date rapes?

Speaking of date rapes, I'm about to join in on the solarcoin gang-bang here in less than 24 hours...

I'm predicting a network hash of 1000 MH/s during this next diff re-target.
Anyone else have a better prediction?

LOL Have fun, it may be the last chance you get to rape and pillage this one. Wink

Well, looks like we'll get another chance to rape and pillage after all ... how much longer? 2-2.5 days or so?

Someone is mining solarcoin now with 564,274 Kh/s against the last couple of hundred blocks at the current difficulty.  It's driving up the difficulty for the next period. He's probably trying to get an early start a the low difficulty, but the expected difficulty in the next period is now indicating it'll be 10+. :-)

Just saw that myself. Looks like we won't get to pillage like I was hoping.

Looks like cryptopoolmining had it wrong, diff logged at 2.8 for this round. Net hash was about 1,300 Mh/s a few minutes ago but is now showing 745 Mh/s.

WTH??? I go to bed last night, wake up this morning and we're at 10 diff now. But then I read there was a 2.8 diff.  Huh Was there really a 2.8 diff or did it go from 11 down to 10? When I went to bed it said the est. next diff was 9 and network hash rate was just over 500 MHs and I think there were 40 blocks to go or something? Seems weird.

Well damn, there was indeed a 2.8 diff in the middle of the night according to the block explorer... How long did it last? 5 hours. Wow...

Why do these people have to rape for the whole 5 hours? Why not just rape for 3-4 hours and then walk away? Better yet, why not make love 24/7 instead of raping???  Undecided Undecided Undecided

Meh, whatever, it'll all be a blip in SolarCoin history soon enough.  Kiss

yeah, wasn't the usual mining cycle this time.  I managed to mine a few coins at the low difficulty.  It'll be nice when the new code comes…hopefully soon. :-)

Unfortunately I am unable to help with that, my little 450 KHs miner I bought in February crapped out on me. Sad But from what I can see, testing is going very well! *fingers crossed* for a smooth rollout.

SolarCoin volume on Bittrex has been increasing recently. §20-30k traded per day the last few days. Still less than AllCrypt, but gaining ground. Nice to see some action for our currency on a bigger exchange, and Bittrex has been growing and adding new features, etc. Maybe in a few more months it'll be just as big as MintPal and Cryptsy.

https://bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-SLR

I just wish we could get some traders interested in this coin to give it more of a liquid order book. I have a feeling that nearly all the §SLR being "traded" on the exchanges is just miners dumping it straight into the hands of long-term investors who will never sell it for 2+ years.

Looking on the bright side, it's hard to imagine the price not going up when the supply of coins being mined by immediate dumpers starts to decline. Buying interest is there, eating a steady diet of dumped coins day after day.

I'm sure it'll get action once the foundation is legally set up and grants begin en mass. There will be demand for buyers also since many more coins will enter the market, but it'll also begin to create the retail market for the coins since the foundation has been laid so to speak and it looks like the founders are using some quality concrete. It happened because a 500 MH/s machine came online and  in just a few hours it hashed through the remaining few hundred blocks of the round. I was not anticipating the diff switch for about two days.

You can see the coding progress for the diff adjustment here: https://github.com/solarcoin/solarcoin/network Don't ask me what any of it means, I'm not a programmer, I just thought it was a fun resource to look at. Smiley

Also, the Board reached out to Sunuser this week to see if he was still interested in helping out but he declined. Sad It's too bad too, I was going to throw §5000 his way as thanks for the help! Not to mention what bounties may come along in the future from the Foundation for any work being done. But apparently Sunuser has moved on and is now a dev for a different coin, I don't know which one but I wish him all the best. We all have our own projects and work to attend to, so to each their own.

I just thought I would update the community so that you know we are making efforts to bring others in to help with things. While we all want everything to be done yesterday, these things DO take time to ensure things are done correctly. It's of paramount importance that there are no negative impacts to current users as a result of the change. Unfortunately we are light on volunteers with coding skills and those who might be willing to help generally start out by asking how much we're gonna pay them and are unwilling to provide any confirmation on their identity, even when it is strictly held privately by the Board. I understand the aversion to that, anonymity is a cozy and comfortable place to be and means that you never have to take responsibility for your actions, even if those actions are good. But as a board member and believer in the future of SolarCoin, I am absolutely OK with putting my real name out there. I'm willing to take that risk because I want this coin to succeed and I don't think it's unreasonable to ask people to identify themselves when it comes to certain things. If they choose not to share that information, that is their choice, no harm no foul. Smiley

As for testing, volunteers are being brought in to help with hash power. Doug and Justin are coordinating that effort so if you are interested, please post or contact them in the SLR forums or fill out a Volunteer form at solarcoin.org and mention this specifically.

I'll do my best to help keep this forum updated with how things are going!  Kiss

I know this is probably pretty basic for most of you in this forum, but I did up an instruction guide on how to access SLR from a paper wallet. It's over on the SLR forums, hopefully it will be of use to someone. Smiley

To add coins from a paper wallet to a encrypted wallet i believe you just have to unlock the wallet in the debug menu for a few minutes then you can import the paper wallet.

Hi SolarCoin investors and traders,

Recently Bittrex started de-listing coins that didn't have much trading volume. Fortunately they kept SolarCoin, even though we had very low volume on Bittrex until recently. I guess they must like our concept or believe in our potential.  Smiley

Even with the recent uptick in volume for SolarCoin on Bittrex, we are still one of their low-volume coins, so we must be on the lookout for potential de-listing and do what we can to prevent it. They announced that they will de-list more coins twice a week from now on.

Bittrex is the only large exchange with a BTC-SLR trading pair. We need to make sure we stay listed there. I'm going to do my part by doing most of my SLR trading on Bittrex from now on. I encourage you to join me, so that we can build up enough volume there to be safe from the possibility of de-listing.

I tried that during my testing and it didn't work. I changed my pass phrase so there were no spaces (had read to try that) and still couldn't get it to work. So I gave up. Smiley But thankfully it does work perfectly on an unencrypted wallet, takes a minute or two though.

Yes, I just read about this last night! The said on Twitter something about only keeping 30 low volume coins listed, so I thanked them again for listing SolarCoin.

I bought some there yesterday and noticed the volume was over 30,000 SLR. I wonder what the level is that they consider "low volume"?
