This is the end of solarcoin.  After this round the difficulty is gonna stay spiked at 40+ for weeks with no miners.

The founders of SolarCoin are serious about their investment in this project. If worst comes to worst, I'm sure they'll just rent mining rigs themselves to keep things going and prevent a hung coin.

Not worried about hung coin, I can mine…just don't like the abuse via the high difficulty hanging around for days after they mine and sell off their coins :-(

Just submitted SLR to another exchange voting list. Vote at sharexcoin.com, if you want the coin to be added there:

I kinda figured it was something silly like that when a quick update on this thread did not reveal a "broken SolarCoin".  My heart did stop there for a second when I first read that.......have been a supporter of this puppy since start!  Heck, I just got Solar put on my home so I could claim some more SolarCoin.......ok, not really but the wife and I did just get Solar on our home and consider it a great bonus to be able to earn some SolarCoin along with our free power:-)

I'm just wondering if anyone has heard anything from the devs about their plan for fixing this difficulty issue?

Saw that Nick tweeted:

#mathisfun. just suggested #solarcoin adjust diff retarget using Kalman filter & fibonacci sequence sampling to avoid harmonics. #§

Could be coming soon?

Yup, today…with the high difficulty.  Times must be tough for multipools, struggling to find profits.

I would love if we could just switch this over to proof of stake asap.

From facebook

Eric Stetson

Troy, it takes time to do it right. Here's an update on the status: 4 out of 5 Board Members have been chosen, and 5th seat will hopefully be filled soon. Charter is going through final stages of editing before it will be presented to the community for ratification. Bylaws are being worked on by volunteers and looked at by attorney. When all of those things are done, we can incorporate. These things are among the highest items on our priority list.

I might be missing but it seems that no one mentions about the SolarMiner company! They are actually the first guys that bringsin solar powered cryotocurrency into the community! They have an awesome product that you can power the USB bitcoin or litecoin miners with solar.

Comparing the value of mining solarcoin, I mean.... why should I mine solarcoin when I can mine bitcoins using solar with much better ROI?

What's the point having another altcoin called "solarcoin" that actaully has no differences at all to any other altcoins and no tight connections to solar?

The main way to acquire SLR is through feed in tariff grants. If you have solar on your house you can claim Solarcoin per Megawatt hour. Each Solarcoin represents 1 MW/h of solar energy.

But how did you do that? it's not even regulated at all. Who's gonna care about altcoins?

And how did you measure the MW/h in Solarcoin?
