To the point I wonder whether implementing a robot which posts such a message everytime a block luck goes under 100% would contribute to pool mega-performance Naugh, too much hassle. It is easier to wait until a user writes it :-p

Hehehe :-) Just started a discussion about a possible scenario for a withholding attack in the hardware section. Would be glad if some savvy miners could put some logic into it...

So www server maintenance hit during a pretty long block, then failed because it took too long. (Part of the maintenance involves a backup of all shares since the last block)
I reset the maintenance and it should be good to go soon.
We did find a block at some point during the maintenance and it will show up when it's done. (Payouts already happened for it, since as always the pool itself is not affected by the www server)

Can you explain how your graph was made, in detail ? The expected optimal average luck is (of course) 100%, and recent blocks show a lot of variance, so your graph is not very telling as is.

Mining for fun.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/VarianceThis article is about the mathematical concept. For other uses, see Variance (disambiguation).
In probability theory and statistics, variance measures how far a set of numbers is spread out....

Found a block at 28% luck and crying about a withholding attack? *sigh* We've had far worse rounds in the past.

Found a block at 28% luck and crying about a withholding attack? *sigh* We've had far worse rounds in the past. Obviously. Also, the insidious withholding attack was so well executed that it intercepted and nuked golden nonces from all the users of the pool for the 12 hours it was ongoing.
