Anyone know a NMC wallet that works online with Elgius ?

Thanks

I just use Namecoin-QT. I do not trust leaving any quantity of anything at BTC-e or any other exchange unless I'm actively trading.

+1 on NQT

+123 on the bold text. This is good practice and this will prevent a lot of headaches for newbs/amateurs. Never have funds/coins out of your hands unless actively needing to trade/move/purchase/sell etc.

I agree with this sentiment completely.  Never leave anything that you're not willing to lose on an exchange.

However, I will note that Cryptsy has a nice auto-sell feature.  As soon as coins are transferred into your Cryptsy deposit address, they are traded out for BTC, and the BTC is held.  Assuming that your NMC amounts are small (as they are for most individual miners), you may feel comfortable leaving those BTC in Cryptsy for a day or two at a time.  I have found it helpful to auto-xfer my NMC to Cryptsy and use it to invest/trade small amounts (like .01 BTC) in other altcoins that catch my interest.  Of course, I generally withdraw those altcoins ASAP to a wallet under my control.  Not that they are worth much, but it is fun to dip your hand into many pools and to get a sense of the flavor of the various altcoins.  E.g. I found it interesting to reserve a name with Namecoin, and to set up Proof of Stake with Peercoin.

They say not to mine directly to the exchange but given that eligius pays out NMC more or less manually this should be fine.

EDIT: Not intended to suggest that Cryptsy is "safe." I have no idea.

What about those blocks marked as "Unknown" taking up 23% of the hashing power? Are they really unknown or is that a blockchain.info bug?
That's precisely what this post, serious enough to warrant a sticky, is about:

I haven't received any namecoins for about 10 days and used to get them every 1-2 days. Is eligius still doing merge mining of namecoins?

Nothing since the last we heard from WK, I guess he's really busy sorting this NMC mess out:

EDIT: NMC mining will still work, we're just not getting payments in the meantime

Eligius still does merged NMC mining. WK mentioned in his last post that he's holding off on NMC payments until the latest mess is sorted.

Haven't seen any payouts. Is Namecoin merge mining still happening? If not, can you please remove it from the options page. confusing as hell.

*sigh*

Seems we cant catch a break. Sad

I left this morning, and within an hour of me leaving CPPSRB went into failsafe.  I was traveling most of the day and wasn't able to set it to recover until ~8 hours later... which is making for a slow catch up.

I decided to hold off on NMC payouts for the moment until I can go through the information provided by everyone regarding changes.  Seems the core copy of the database rejected some people's invalid signature options in an update (with the false NMC address).  So, the core database was missing some random people's options, which seems to be why some people's options have reset to nothing (because I wiped out all options containing the false NMC address/invalid signatures).

I will use the latest backup from before the incident to reverify everyone's options/NMC address and check it against the database before issuing some NMC payouts/backpay.  No worries.

As for a BTC manual payout, it was on my agenda to do tonight, but with the reward system out of sync I can not get a valid payout list, so I have to wait until that is ready.  Hopefully it doesn't take too long and I can still get it done before I get to sleep tonight.

What about those blocks marked as "Unknown" taking up 23% of the hashing power? Are they really unknown or is that a blockchain.info bug?

Probably very large miners solo mining or using a private pool.

Not all mining farms are publicly known. Block explorers must than use known IP or BTC addresses to name the pool.
KnC went from Eligius to solo, a week or two back.
By now, they are probably solo mining with about 5 Ph/s.

So I guess we're going with "not a bug"?

Right so rather confused

I had a payout from Eligus on 2014-03-19 00:54:36 - I can see my BTC Address in the list but nothing has appeared in my account.

Is this due to the blockchain issue yesterday ?

Thanks

Also a 5 Hour block... Whats going on folks  Huh

Payouts from Eligius are like direct mining.  They coins are "immature" until they get 120 confirmations.  You should see it in your wallet.

As for 5 hour block.. it all evens out in the end.  The 4 prior were quite short, including one in just shy of 2 minutes (expected is about an hour).

It seems that last 5 blocks aren't updated in stats as it should but balance & hashrate are updated.
Last block in stats is 291283

I hope WK will look at it and fix it as always

W

EDIT: As I wrote this post stats are updated

So I looked at my NMC deposit address, and the last deposit I got from Eligius was on 2014-03-08. Is this the same as everyone else?

You are lucky, until now I haven't got any NMC ever since I joined. Already had two BTC payouts but none on NMC.
I followed procedure and properly configure my NMC and BTC.

Thanks for the update,

I see stats have updated, is blockchain still messed up as my wallet has still not updated with the BTC that Eligus paid out and has over 200 confirmations.

Blockchain is only a viewer of the network so why would that affect if its in my wallet or not ? Dose Elgius use API for Blockchain

Total confused again Sad

Edit: Blockchain shows Warning! this bitcoin address contains transactions which may be double spends. You should be extremely careful when trusting any transactions to or from this address. on the transaction

I'm not an expert, but they are definitely in the blockchain.  Where is this wallet held?  Is it your own personal wallet address (as in you have the bitcoin client on your PC), or an online one?

I'm not sure an online one would properly show mined activity, if it'll work at all.

Surprised no one else has noticed this yet.
