I don't know what you mean but I will try my best to answer your question.  I think a full refusal of eth is possible since there is nothing is impossible in the cryptocurrency.

I think, he meant go away from ethereum blockchain and create own network. I agree too with it as the projects using an own blockchain always become more interesting to masses.

Creating new blockchain is an innovation because it creates a new thing that posses new ideas and investors might attract for.
