What's technically unique about this coin?
TECHNICALLY, every coin is a clone of Benjamins. I wrote this from scratch back in 1782, but just recently acquired the capabilities to post it. Satoshi must have found my notes while we were developing the Time Traveler 1000® #cryptobeforeitwascool #hipsterben For real, though, we will be adjusting settings and updating the coin as needed to keep it up to date. If anything, it will become more unique as time goes on and more changes get pushed live. If that means a few hard forks in the future to better the coin, then so be it. We won't let it run like shit or become a dead coin. We will continue to support it, even if nobody else does Our technical difference is adaptation and not being afraid to admit we made a mistake if a change doesn't work. The settings you see now are not what it will end up with. The only thing we won't change is the block time and reward to keep the target supply steady

Ok, I feel dumb...
My problem was not with vanitygen, it was with the client. Importing a private key will produce exactly the same BEN or BTC address (not sure if this is a good thing or not).

I'm personally a fan of this. Coins can't get sent across networks, so the only real damage you can do is cosmetic If you send BEN to one of your BTC addresses on accident, you can import that key from BTC client and import it into BEN to recover your mistake

Mintpal is changing the way the votes work.
AI tweeted at them earlier about it and they replied they were working on a better method than just rewarding the vote buyers, now, they have tweeted this:
"Altering the voting. We'll be picking the top coin every other day, and in between we will select a new coin we think has good potential."

We need to prove our worth and show them we will bring volume, then. Their site looks nice, would be a nice addition to our exchange list

Added to OP: What is a Benjamin? The United States one hundred-dollar bill ($100) is a denomination of United States currency featuring statesman, inventor, and diplomat Benjamin Franklin on the obverse of the bill. On the reverse of the banknote is an image of Independence Hall. The $100 bill is the largest denomination that has been printed since 1969, when the denominations of $500, $1,000, $5,000, and $10,000 were retired
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing says the average life of a $100 bill in circulation is 90 months (7.5 years) before it is replaced due to wear and tear. The bills are also commonly referred to as "Benjamins", in reference to the use of Benjamin Franklin's portrait on the denomination, or "C-Notes", based on the Roman numeral for 100. The bill is one of two denominations printed today that does not feature a President of the United States; the other is the $10 bill, featuring Alexander Hamilton. The time on the clock of Independence Hall on the reverse, according to the U.S. Bureau of Engraving and Printing, shows approximately 4:10 on the older contemporary notes and 10:30 on the series 2009A notes in 2013
On April 24, 2013, the Federal Reserve announced the new $100 bill would enter circulation on October 8, 2013. The new bill will cost 12.6 cents to produce and have a blue ribbon woven into the center of the currency with "100" and Liberty Bells, alternating, that appear when the bill is tilted
According to the Federal Reserve, more than two thirds of all $100 notes circulate outside of the United States making it the most popular banknote

More people know about Benjamins than even I thought I am familiar with both the loonie and the toonie, as well!

Thankfully you didn't decide to call them C-Notes. Just imagine seeing the trading pair BTC/CNT up on an exhcange.

Have you considered a faster diff retarget? Like every few blocks fast? It seems like it's just too long right now for a new coin - miners come in, mine a few and leave, the diff is left way high and the retarget drags out forever. I also find a fast retarget more exciting - there is often an opportunity for small miners to find blocks solo when the diff drops, which keeps interest higher when the whales are away. I haven't read up on how the gravity well solution works, and I have no idea what is needed to change the retarget time (or if it is even possible) after a coin is released, but it's a thought.

Yes, we will give it at least a few weeks to see how things pan out when the hash settles to its normal rate before doing a hard fork, though. If anything, it's making it more rare by blocks being a bit slower right now. There's still under 2 million total

Add them to benjamins.conf in Roaming/Benjamins/benjamins.conf - You may have to create this file To find Roaming, Start Menu -> Search -> %appdata% Then launch your QT as server either with a .bat that has benjamins-qt -server or just add -server in the properties of the QT exe
