Side-note, with the Mtgox and bitstamp and several other exchanges stopping withdrawal.

Still a good time to mine?

IN THE TOILET??

it is more than double the price right on mt gox than when I started mining last april/may at $150....so I guess it depends on how you look at it.

I received my first ant yesterday had the date 1/4/2014 on the pcb.. it has the the pci-e connectors and the yellow and black screw terminals....  the fan is powerful but too noisey so replaced with 2 artic f12 fans in push pull configuration and now runs super quiet temps around 49c

I did have a problem the miner seeing mining pools. I tried all the pools I use but I would see them as dead in he miner config... a lot of head scratching later I had to use there IP address instead of the normal pool web address.....
Anyone else had this problem?

49 degrees C a little too close for comfort especially if overclocking.  Might want to keep blades at or around 40-44 C for optimal runtime, as well as, keeping the blades and/or PSU from shutting down.

What's the DNS IP address that you set on the miner?

70 is bye bye investment.

Sounds like antminer can't do dns lookups with the dns server you have set. Mine is listed as 192.168.1.1, same as my router. You could also try 8.8.8.8 or 8.8.4.4 (these are Google's dns servers).

I have 4 extra PWM fans. Seems that the Ant likes to operate at 41-45 degrees. Whenever, I try some extra cooling measure, the stock fan slows down. When I remove some extra fans, the stock fan increases speed to maintain that temperature.

So I think the board BIOS is programmed to keep it about 41-45 degrees.

Now fan running 1560.

Update- ordered on 10th despatched 12th received today 14th from Shenzen, China to UK. Superfast delivery as many have stated. Mine have PCI-E connectors and also look brand new untouched. I can't test them until Tuesday when I get PSUs hopefully all is ok, but so far as delivery is concerned Sushi has done a sterling job so far.....!

I have mine generally running about 34 degrees but I have two fans on them. I would feel uneasy about them running over 40.

I think you need to stop believing what you read on these threads and do the research.

The datasheet for the product is here https://github.com/AntMiner/AntGen1/blob/master/datasheet/BM1380_Datasheet.pdf and states that the BM1380 chip has a maximum operating temperature of 125c.
The temperature monitoring chip is in the middle of each board and to allow for the temperature difference between hash and temperature monitoring chip the /etc/config/cgminer has been set at

Ok, run your antminer at 60-70C and report back to the forum after a couple months.   Grin

Yeah, I setup a time lapse camera of all my Ant's working from the first I received just because I knew you would ask!

So let me get this straight in my head

You trust the people on this forum but you do not trust the data provided by Bitmain, the manufacturer.
