There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, but full nodes are more resource-heavy, and they must do a lengthy initial syncing process. As a result, lightweight clients with somewhat less security are commonly used.

Windows Error: This program can't start because libgcc_s_dw2-1.dll is missing from your computer. I always forget to change mintcoinqt to static... Try again, same link and should be static. Nice work, it has started syncing now. Ok cool So looks like the bug impacted people that weren't running a client during the fork. It caused errors when trying to sync prefork blocks after the fork had occurred. Only had to change a few lines in the code and everything looks all fixed and ready to go. All exchagnes etc should be fine as they would have been running their node through the fork anyways. We will need to update all website links etc to new builds. Fuzzbawls is working on a new mac build too. Sorry for the inconvenience to those impacted, but at least the fork itself went very smoothly.

Been doing a lot of testing and the one thing i've noticed is that, on a fresh install (new wallet, no block data or peers.dat on disk), the hard-coded nodes seem to be on the old version still and are being rejected by the new client. This is making it so that new clients can't start syncing the blockchain UNLESS they use addnode in the .conf.

Wow I havent had such an easy wallet upgrade in so long. To top it all off, v1.7 had a debug file over over 200mb over the last 2 weeks and v2.0 opened and synced in no time. I was terrified to have to download he chain again but no need! Even my CPU usage has dropped significantly (most likely due to the debug.txt not being active but still).
It's this kind of development, foresight, and attention to detail that is going to make this coin thrive. Great job Mint Team!
Edit*** Whats the dev address again? I feel sharing some minty love.

Just a little update: I've been working on my own towards a stable 64bit windows build the past few days. It is slow going, to say the least, but I'm making progress. I'm currently running into an access violation when trying to read the .conf file that is causing both the Qt wallet and the headless daemon to crash. Hopefully I'll find the source of the problem soon and be able to provide a Minty fresh 64bit client
