I need an older client.  Because when I add a wallet from the older platforms it crashes the current version.

So I am unable to stake coins sent to addresses in March.

In other words I can not access my coins.

Additionally, you can always dump your private keys from the older wallet and import them into a new, working wallet.

How do you get this wallet /client to sync?

I am trying to get v2.0.1.0 to work, it was syncing OK till it got about a third of the way in and it stopped.
Now it syncs for a minute and then stops, when it changes from 1300001 Estimated total blocks to 2069829 Estimated total blocks it stops.

I have tried the Bootstarp and I cannot get that to work either.

These are what I think are the instructions from the Read Me txt document that comes with the boot strap.

"This folder contains daily backup of Mintcoin data folder compressed with 7zip (http://www.7-zip.org/).

Folder contains complete blockchain.
Only thing that is missing is wallet.dat.

NOTE :
DO NOT FORGET TO BACKUP YOUR WALLET FIRST ( wallet.dat file from %APPDATA%\MintCoin)

Requirements :
Latest Mintcoin wallet application.

Basics:
To find your wallet location press : Win+E (starts Explorer)
Paste %APPDATA%\MintCoin in location.

Instructions for Windows:
BACKUP YOUR WALLET FIRST ( wallet.dat file from %APPDATA%\MintCoin)
Delete all files from %APPDATA%  EXEPT your wallet.dat !!!!!!
Extract archive to %APPDATA% location.
Start Mintcoin wallet

File list:
blockchain_YYYY_MM_DD.7z
blockchain_YYYY_MM_DD.sha (SHA1 checksum of blockchain_YYYY_MM_DD.7z file)
read_me.txt (this file)
scripts\ (backup script)
BTSync_ArchiveOption.png (settins for how long BTSync will keep deleted files)

TODO :
Add some kind of validation (digitaly signiture of files)
Convert this file to Markup

Q: (Client) My seed is up 24/7. Do the files in \Archive delete themselves after a week?

A: (Seeder) My \Archive folder is empty but on client side, every file I delete goes to .sync\Archive folder. By default, they will be there for 30 days and that option can be changed by going to Options -> Advanced tab and selecting More options...
There is property sync_trash_ttl that is set to 30 (days).
You can change it to every value you prefer. Only problem i see here is that this is global option and it affects all shares."

And I must say it is as clear as mud.

The first problem is it does not come down as a 7zip file although there is a zip file amongst the files that do come down and it is this file "blockchain_YYYY_MM_DD.7z" I have tried extracting it into %APPDATA%\MintCoin and it doesn't work either.

So can anybody please help me get my wallet synced?

Have you tried...

Restarting your wallet and allowing it to reconnect to peers.  During a full blockchain download I've found that multiple restarts of the wallet may be required.  This especially seems to be true when downloading older, past blocks.

Add nodes from https://chainz.cryptoid.info/mint/#!network
See node list link
In wallet, go to help menu/Help/Debug window/Console
Add 5-10 random nodes from the list of many
addnode #.#.#.# add

See if blocks are downloading thru Debug window (Current number of blocks)

See if blocks are downloading by watching the file size of your wallet.dat.

While this answer doesn't cover the bootstrap, these other solutions should help you with a blockchain download.

Hi URSAY, I have tried and I am doing everything you have suggested except perhaps add nodes from the list you have posted but I have added nodes and put a config file into client with add nodes as well, I will get onto adding some more now. I have been restarting the wallet since yesterday and actually managed to get from June to the end of July 2014, ha, ha.

Thank you for your suggestions it is helpful just having a response to be honest.

If your syncing seems stalled out, deleting the peers.dat file may be useful. Sometimes a node will send blocks to a syncing client that are too far ahead of what the requesting client is looking for, and if that happens too often then the requesting client will blacklist the sending node for a while. Deleting peers.dat will basically force a refresh on all the nodes your client will attempt to sync the blockchain from.

I deleted peers.dat and opened wallet it did the same thing, when it changes from 1300001 Estimated total blocks to 2070095 Estimated total blocks it stops.

I also tried adding a Mintcoin.conf file with add nodes from the list supplied by URSAY and deleted the peers.dat file. opening it did the same thing, when it changes from 1300001 Estimated total blocks to 2070095 Estimated total blocks it stops.

But thanks for help/suggestions anyway.

PS. it seems to be working now with 12 connections but it seems very slow I might get up to date by 2016 at this rate, ha, ha.

Mintcoin is a 100% pure poof of stake coin now. The original distribution was several weeks by proof of work at first, for fair distribution. It is arguably the first coin of its kind, in the sense that it was the first coin to be released, with PoW at first distribution, with the intent to be later converted to PoS. Some other coins were cloned immediately after Mintcoin's release with an even faster initial distribution (basically instamined) in a few days, and thus technically became converted over to PoS first, before Mintcoin did. But Mintcoin was released first.

As for the syncing issues. I have never used the bootstrap before, just letting it sync block by block. If you do that it will take about a week of letting your client just run 24/7. Sometimes it seems to clock up, but if you jest be patient and come back in a few more hours, it will have moved forward and made progress again. The graphic user interface isn't always responding while doing a ton of syncing, but it IS still syncing in the background, u der the hood. Once it is caught up finally, you will be able to see it. Sometime restarting the client every few hours can help speed up the syncing too, IMO.

 Also it seems people with Windows 10 have been having more issues lately... Not sure, just saying, are u on windows 10?

Yes MintCoin was more than just a copy past coin when it was launched and was innovative with a short POW period leading to POS only.

I calculated that from taking the average of a few hours of syncing that it would have taken me about 6 days to sync fully at the rate of sync I was getting, it was too long because I was due to stake and missed the wallet up date so I had staked with a dud wallet previously I didn't want to loose out by going over the deadline of 11 days as it was then. Syncing does work yes, it is just very slow when compared to some other wallets but the number one coin BTC is a terrible wallet to sync in my experience and I was trying to sync that up as well.

The bootstrap was easy once I realized that I only needed the contents of the zip file and was forced to install 7zip to unzip the files.

As for Windows10 I wouldn't touch it with somebody else's equipment, windows stopped at 7 for me and I am moving to Linux slowly.

Technically it is not a halving, it is a thirding. A 33.33% drop.

It was a 25% decrease last year, is 33.33% decrease this year, and will be a 50% decrease next year.

Mintcoin is tanking hard. I highly recommend selling all your coins now if you are holding any still. Don't wait until they go to one or two satoshi. Dump them now.
