Can we PLEASE stop supporting cgminer as the mining solution of choice given:

1) They don't care about GPU mining
2) They don't care about scrypt mining
3) The developers are douchebags.

Please?

Somebody needs to edit the wiki and remove ALL references to cgminer as it is useless.

I respectfully disagree... most of my rigs still use  2.10.5 cgminer... where the newer rigs are using 3.7.2.

the code is open source and can be forked from 3.7.2 for further development if one so desires.......

I do not have experience as programmer to do it myself
If you're using Windows, someone posted a link to binaries on the first page and they are included in the OP.  If you are using *nix, there are a lot of guides on how to build, and you might get help in the thread.  There is also the possibility that some distro is packaging it, which is what the programmer thinks should be happening.  I'm not a miner, so I can't really help you, but I'm not a programmer, and I've built lots of things on Fedora, including from github with help in threads and web searches.

Their issue isn't about obtaining and building binaries, but about continuing development of the code to accommodate new hardware as it comes out, or cgminer isn't going to run efficiently on it.

edit: which you would have known had you given their posts a proper read before replying.

How does this have to do with maintaining software?  Read the linked thread.  It's a fork from cgminer that is maintained by someone else.

I guess I can see where you could make such an assumption from the "if one so desires" regarding further development, but I am under the impression sgminer will be maintained by wolf0.  It doesn't really say it will in that other thread, but it doesn't really say it won't, either.

No and No. The N-Factor is worth talking about. Can anyone post a link to a detailed posts about the kimoto difficulty adjustment? Are there really no downsides?

Litecoin miners, try our new merged mining pool at http://manicminer.in

What is different with this pool? It is the first one implementing merged mining with scrypt coins, this means you can mine different coins at the same time without losing any performance. Basically it is free money!!! Right now we are mining all of these coins, all of them at the same time:

LiteCoin
PesetaCoin
UnitedScryptCoin
HunterCoin
OrgCoin
CatCoin
DogeCoin
PotCoin
DigitalCoin

You can multiply easily your profit by mining all of them!!

WOW, who dig this out of the graveyard thread? Litecoin has been launched many years ago.  Roll Eyes

What I'm surprised at is despite this being the second most popular coin, why the number of pages is only 115.

Anyway, if Litecoin was your first coin vote for Litecoin in this thread:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=418450.0
Probably because people back than didn't bother to post a stream of useless posts like "reserved" "I'm in" and "how we're going to pump this shit?"

And Litecoin has his own forum: https://litecointalk.org

No alt has such a big community behind it, but most just go to this forum instead of discussing everything here.
