I think that's to keep competitive with the A. I. grading services popping up. PSA has a very close eye on them, and is aware that the market is changing, and it's in their best interest to change with it....or lose business. Streamlining their process should have been a top priority for years...A. I. is forcing their hand. Thank God!!! Maybe they'll staff-up as well, and we won't have to wait a year or more for our cards to come home.  Sad

*I see some serious benefits from all of this. May be some draw backs at first too....time will tell.

The PSA 10 is the hottest ticket in town right now.  The minimum cost to grade a card is 300.00 plus insurance for a chance at a PSA 10.  Not good odds.  The cost to pull a x mini black, cheaper to just buy the card in my opinion.  Any #83 insert card graded PSA 10 is going to the moon no doubt.

Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) has announced that it has acquired Genamint, Inc., a software company that will help improve and scale the process by which PSA handles trading card submissions. Genamint technology analyzes each trading card in real-time and is able to provide diagnostics, measurements, and detect alterations or other changes made to a card’s surface in an effort to assist human graders. It will also provide unique card identification – or “card fingerprinting” – by identifying the exact card in order to track provenance, resubmissions, condition changes and other attributes over time.

Yeah it is only a matter of time that human eyes won't be used at all.  Humans are imperfect and grading can be done fairly easily by AI if the right amount of smart people create the technology.  Machines are taking over the world!! Lol.  I view this as a good thing as grades will be more true and consistent.  Just wonder what will happen to views on pre and post AI grading.

i wonder if there'll be a premium  on the ones seen by a human eyeball.  maybe they can give this a nickname like "human graded" or "BB" for before bots.

The spread right now between an ungraded card vs. PSA 10 is off the charts on most cards.

I think Mr Stacey was just referencing the way it was graded.  Was it graded by human or by machine.  Agreed raw versus a gem 10er is always a wide difference.

Personally I do think they will be difference in prices a human graded 10 versus a machine graded 10.  Just don't know which way Smiley

If I remember right, the cards will be graded by A.I., then go to a human - for final analysis. So, they get ya for the final step of the grading process, the "eye balling" of each card. Has to be, at least by a small part, overseen by humans. Any way you shake it out, the process is going to be a lot more speedy. I expect the final viewing by humans to be just a formality, and pretty much overlooked in time.

*With around 25 of the X mini's still out there...I'm betting that the one graded 10 won't be the only one out there. There's still a good chance a couple more could come in a 10....which is why that card was for sale for such a long time. The owner has that in the back of his mind constantly.

Agree a few more 10's could show up, never know.  I think the goldie might be a little high, maybe just under 10k might move it.

The fee that you pay to get a card graded is subject to "upcharges", based on the value of a card. PSA tracks that, and if you have a $10,000 card...they want a piece of that, if you get a 10 from them. Their generosity for a 10 come's with a premium.  Undecided

Where did you get this info? It's been long suspected in the baseball card community that the more valuable a particular card grows, the less likely PSA is to give it a perfect PSA 10. I'd love to confirm the above info.

OK, you were upcharged. But were you upcharged by PSA or by the folks at TSTC who sent them to PSA for you? That's an important distinction worth checking receipts for.

It's true.  Subjectively if you use a service that has a $499 cap and after they grade a card and deem it worth more you have to pay the upcharge into one of the higher tiers they think it's value is in.  Decline and they send back the raw card.  Card values are dropping now so I wonder how they will treat values now.  Definite dip in the cardboard market upon us
