Right, there's no substitute for common sense and good research. However, it is worth using rating sites when doing your own research. Of course, these websites should not be trusted in their entirety, but they may be of some help.

Yes, many ICO rating sites are simply paid for their evaluation of the projects. There might be some pricelists like "$2,000 for grade 3 and $5,000 for grade 5" and so on.
I use ICO rating sites only as a guide to get quick data about the projects I want to analyze (like the base price of the token, the availability of bounty campaign and some brief info on the project team).
The same can be said about the aggregators of bounty campaigns - I generally distrust their ratings and try to make my own opinion on this or that campaign.

Absolutely, if you rely on somebody's work solely you might live to regret one day. Most of them now give us fake details which help us to fall as victims most at times. Therefore get your facts right before joining any ICO project.

I am agree with you. We are anonymous in this forum so do not believe easily. We have trust issue to believe or not if someone will offer you something. Its better to be careful and say no to some offers rather than being scammed. We need to be aware of those things to be safe. If you are curious about something here in the community just try to read and research on your own it will help you a lot.
