Ico rating sites can be manipulated, I've heard the issue that money can affect that. I also met several times with very inaccurate judgments, high ratings but it turned out that the project was a scam. Don't make ICO rating the main reference, just as a supporter, you must learn and analyze the whitepaper and hype.

Ratings sites are mostly used on those newly ICO's to gain trust from their community and investors but it is not enough reason for the project to be legit, scammers are everywhere and they will do any tricks to deceive you so I really agree that you don't trust so easily.
