Although there is less and less activity from forum members on this thread for past several weeks, the development seems to be happening consistently with newer features introduced at regular intervals.

Good going, devs. Keep it up.

BCN is an excellent well formed coin as usual. Creators team overall maintain very nicely whole the systems. It's really an  unique algorithm CryptoNight.

Agreed.

Hello,

I was glad to see the fix put in (hopefully the invalid cert issue will not happen again); FYI I feel the improvements and look of the new site are professional.

In addition, I have recently sent an e-mail to the BCN developers responding to an inquiry that they sent to me on April 11, 2015 (which contained, in part, questions and issues raised relative to the ABIS concept (( http://abis.io )) from Amjuarez and Seigen).  In part my response to the developers contains references to subsatoshi.org, which is an offshoot of abis.io.

Respect,

ABISprotocol

References:

1) http://abis.io (The ABIS site)
2) https://github.com/ABISprotocol/ABIS/issues/1 (ABIS issue 1, Cascading Revenue Sharing Protocol)
3) https://github.com/ktorn/vdp (Value Distribution Protocol, previously known as: "Cascading Revenue Sharing Protocol" (CRSP) and "Value Chain Distribution Protocol" (VCDP))
4) http://subsatoshi.org (The Subsatoshi site)

Hello,

I've never seen this happen before, but when I link to bytecoin.org lately, it shows the following:

"This Connection is Untrusted"

(etc)

bytecoin.org uses an invalid security certificate. The certificate expired on 03/04/2015 03:59 PM. The current time is 03/21/2015 12:12 PM. (Error code: sec_error_expired_certificate)

OK bytecoin folk... get your certificate back up because I feel uncomfortable about directing traffic to your site (which I have been doing) for people to download and get info from being that your cert is expired.  This is very basic stuff for cryptocurrency related sites esp. for those where people pass through to get their downloads.

Thank you for the report.

We are fixing it right now.

Yeah that was intense. Should be called Chompcoin after that spike. Wonder how many people made 1.79BTC from a 0.01BTC outlay, lol.

Bytecoin is a part of top20 altcoin index Coinoindex.com

The index includes top 20 alternative cryptocurrencies with largest capitalization and tracks the value of the portfolio (in BTC) in which each coin has a 5% share.
The index was created to be an analogue of Dow-Jones or S&P indexes for the altcoins arena.

Rules of index composition:
- Coin should be traded at at least three exchanges, with cumulative daily volume above $1,000 for last 14 days
- Coins that track a value of a certain asset (USD, CNY etc) cannot be included.
- Each coin in included in the portfolio with the same weight.

You can invest in the index by using NXT Asset Exchange, NXT Asset ID 13634675574519917918

Asset tracks the index value, and constant buy/sell liquidity is maintained.
You can invest using NXT cryptocurrency (you can exchange BTC to NXT directly in the NXT client from http://multigateway.org/ or at http://coinomat.com) or BTC at https://trade.secureae.com/

I really loved the latest blog post in Bytecoin blog: "Our Approach to cryptocurrency development".
https://bytecoin.org/blog/our-approach-to-cryptocurrency-development/

What the devs are writing seems very mature. Test-first and constant reviews seem to be driving Bytecoin dev along its roadmap.

180 sat seems crazy today, but the future is unknown.

Answers to your questions:
Quotes: http://bytecoiner.org/bytecoin-early-adopters-and-secret-messages/ - check this to find more information about blockchain quotes
Git repo: yes, the current devs are original devs
Statement: Bytecoin devs spoke about the BCN early years in one of their interviews
PoW: You can check the date there , but you shouldn't be worried about this because Bytecoin has a significant roadmap that explains how the system will be developed  further.

Hi everyone!

I'm writing to remind of a new version of the Bytecoin Community website, that we have released about a month ago http://bytecoiner.org/

The idea of the site has changed significantly. Bytecoiner.org is now a blogging platform, where anyone can start his own technology-oriented blog, or just submit an article. So far, some of us started to cover other news and topics, somehow related to the realm of Crypto. And we'd also like to widen the list with the topics on:

- Cryptography
- Cryptocurrencies
- IT start-ups
- Digital Products
- Economics and Finance
- Business perspectives

The list is not exhaustive, so if you have any somehow related idea you want to share and discuss, you are welcome to register and write about it.

For the time being, we seem to gain readers, but it's not the point. The point is to collaborate and unite into a brand new community, full of people inspired by crypto in particular, and technologies on the whole. A community, where anyone can share his own cryptosense, discuss it, collaborate with others to implement some business ideas and so on.

Decentralized ideas need decentralized community channels that may provide actual news, thoughts and forecasts. Let us be the first channel to do that.

Best posts will be stuck on top of the main page and the authors will be rewarded by the Bytecoin Community.

Tell your friends and comrades, let's build a better cryptocommunity together.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask in this thread or via PM.
You can also contact me via E-mail: drstrange.m@gmail.com

thanks for the reply and warm greeting Cheesus
no sooner had i finished reading the interview you linked above i came upon this Harry interview published today!:
https://www.cryptocoinsnews.com/interview-harry-ullman-bytecoin/

am I to infer the alleged premine accusations are unfounded and that BCN has been well mined by different mining groups at various stages of its existence? see quote below from Bytecoiner (linked above):

"There are several confirmed teams to have mined Bytecoin from mid-2012:”V.Hugo team”, “The R guy team”, “Dante” and “Einstein”.

Still, however big the number of “marked” blocks may seem it represents only a smallest fraction of the entire blockchain. Based on the previous statement one may conclude that the mining teams (pools) are just a small portion of vibrant BCN Community. Just to make this picture clearer: 10 teams, around 15 members each, it all comes down to at least 150 “identified” BCN stakeholders just like with Bitcoin. And don’t forget about those who just act on their own behalf.

Yeah, I've already read this interview too (thanks twitter, I can get the information really fast!).

I like the last part, where Ullo describes Bytecoin team's goals.

Quote
As for the long term, our ultimate goal is to help Bytecoin evolve into a very sophisticated financial system. We are already finalizing smart assets and aliases, which should be released later this year. The next huge step is going to be Bytecoin’s smart contracts that we are already working on.
We believe that cryptocurrency as a form of digital money is only a humble start for the Cryptonomy.

That's good news.
