The Wonderboy fight being cancelled is a kick in the teeth. I was looking forward to that fight, since both of the fighters are some of my favourite fighters, and stylistically it would have made for a interesting match up. I was going with Wonderboy to get the win, but it was a big chance for Michel.

Michel, messed up though. This isn't the first time he has struggled to make the weight, and I expect he'll be in Dana's bad books for a while due to it. Good on Wonderboy rejecting the fight based on principles, though. Not making weight is part of the job, and I can understand missing it from time to time, but it shouldn't become a habit. Hopefully, Michel gets a wake up call, people sometimes get too complacent, and too comfortable especially since there's a lot of pressure on fighters to fight those that miss weight anyway due to all the work they put in, and for the fans.

Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

What do you think about Derrick Lewis now? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBVW--bVlCc
Steroids?  Grin

I think we had a picture here of Lewis pre and post times when it was found that he has started running. If not mistaken, the last time he fought he already was more lean than he was and we discussed that this would affect his power.

https://talksport-com.cdn.ampproject.org/v/s/talksport.com/sport/mma/1297409/derrick-lewis-body-transformation-ufc-vegas-68/amp/?amp_js_v=0.1&usqp=mq331AQA# <—- that is how he looked last time he fought. 6 more months and now wonder he has got abs.

I absolutely do not understand how a professional fighter can not make weight. If you are literally a professional fighter. Making weight is the primary thing that is going to make you able to fight someone. If someone cannot make weight, the UFC basically has to pause the promotion of that fight and they have to make other plans about the fight. So of course the fighters who cannot make weight are going to be in the bad list of Dana White. And I don’t mind if fighter missing wait 2/3 times in his career. But anything more than that is not acceptable.

I absolutely do not understand how a professional fighter can not make weight.

That is easy to explain. A lot of fighters dont fit in the weight class they participate from the very beginning. For example they weigh 95kg off season, drop to 88-90 during camp, and they have about 24h to cut more 4-6 if they want to fit into 84 to be middleweight. The problem is that they are already dont have extra weight to cut. They could have done weight cutting during whole week, but they would be more exhausted. But if they cut 5+ before the fight, they can get it back during the night and morning. They can be on a diet and be 84 already on a weight-ins day, but such extreme cutting is like legal cheat. Because it is easier to beat smaller guy than big guy (everyone remember school and kinder garden times, when we all were picking on smaller and younger kids).

I'm not a fighter and I don't practice any style of fighting, but I suppose the fight against gaining or losing weight must be the hardest part for professional athletes, it's not easy having to maintain the same weight, while maintaining the same weight it means that athletes have to eat the same amount of things and maintain the same level of training and the same lifestyle, this probably ends up being tiring for them in the long run, although they are professionals and earn money, it still is a great effort they are making. I wonder how many of these athletes manage to save money to have a good retirement after all the effort they are making

CJ Vergara - Vinicius Salvador

it will be a somewhat unpredictable fight despite CJ Vergara coming to this fight as a slight favorite. Vinicius Salvador is a 27 year old fighter who was born in Brazil. and despite his age he already has a long professional career, 9 years as a professional fighter, and over those 9 years as a professional fighter he had 19 fights and won in 14 fights, losing in only 5 fights and something very interesting and that of the 14 wins he had, 13 were by knockout and only one was by submission. on the other side we have CJ Vergara who is 32 years old and was born in the united states of america, and has 11 years of professional career and in these 11 years of professional career he had 16 fights of which he won 11 fights and lost in 4 and had a draw. well my guess is that Vinicius Salvador wins this fight, the bookmakers are putting him at odds of @2.00 and he is not the favorite, but even so I see him with better skills to win

They normally have a nutritionist checking on their diet to achieve a certain weight.  All they need is to follow the recommendation of the nutritionist, Michel didn't do it right but sits in front of his TV, smokes up his weed, pork rinds, and rootbeers. It would have been great if UFC regularly updates the fighters so they could see whos going to make it or not.
They could have asked Michael Page for short notice, his Bellator contract expired already.

Fighters with the style of Thompson are not seen often in the cage anymore.

They were supposed to ban extreme cutting because for one it's cheating and also it makes the fighter go through some painful experience that can break them mentally before the fight. That's why some of them sometimes don't fight like they're supposed to and seem distracted, because a day before they were literally being tortured, by being forced to sweat and not allowed to drink.

By the way, UFC 291 is just around the corner.
I'm interested in Blachowicz vs Pereira, since they both beat Adesanya, who has 24 wins and only 2 losses in his record, but Pereira also lost to Adesanya once. We have a real battle between these 3 top fighters in the division and none of them has the belt.

Well I understand that. But aren’t there any serious consequences for them not being able to cut weight properly? And shouldn’t the fighters give proper attention to the fight which is most important for them? I don’t think there are any other organization which is as big as the UFC. So they certainly should be giving proper attention to that UFC in my opinion.

Making weight is a very important part for the fighters to actually fight. If a fighter is unable to make the weight cut I think it is certainly very understandable for the owner of the fighting club have something to say about that. I understand that it is easier to actually gain weight if they cut weight as they do. But I also believe that we all know that it is not a very ideal way.

What do you think of Pereira's split decision win over Blachowicz? There were some disappointed people that says Jan was robbed but I didn't think that was the case. The third round was clearly the decider and I thought Alex dominated that in striking while Jan's takedown came in a little too late imo. One thing that surprised me in this fight is the poor conditioning of Jan (no Polish power is shown here Grin). For Alex, he looks more natural in this weight. He'll probably be next for the LHW title.

I also thought I would lose this match. The decision seem a bit rob since Jan controlled him the first round. And even in the 2nd Alex was struggling after a TD. I Think the judges give more points when Jan got tired in the 2nd round and took several jabs.

Dustin falling like that is more disappointing to me. I think he is winning until that head kick. Sometimes it just end in a way we don't expect even Derrick's jumping knee is new.

Yeah Alex ended R2 stronger which may have tipped that round in his favor. Jan could have won the third if he took him down earlier and dealt damage in that round.

Dustin falling like that is more disappointing to me.
The fight finished too early to everyone's liking but he can't really do something about it. The straight right hand that landed and followed by that high kick was just a great combination from Gaethje. He's been trying to connect that kick since the first round.

Sometimes it just end in a way we don't expect even Derrick's jumping knee is new.
Totally unexpected move there from Derrick and I'm glad it worked out for him.

Looks like the highlights of the night were Lewis doing another “my balls was hot” moment and Poirier getting knocked out with a head kick. That was vicious and I didn’t expect it at all. He was laying on the canvas looking like he got starched. Eminem being there for a walkout was pretty cool too. Seems like these UFC events are starting to get pretty massive.

It was a really boring fight and both the fighters gassed out because the fight is taking place at a higher altitude which will drain the fighters pretty fast if they are not prepared. If Jan Błachowicz was able to take down Alex Pereira earlier in the third round then he would have won the fight, even when he got him down in the third round he did not do any damage, he was resting on top of him Cheesy.

Seems like these UFC events are starting to get pretty massive.
Yes, UFC is owned by Endeavor and they have Movie stars, singers, sports personalities in their pay roll and it is not that hard for them to bring in any start they want to make the event more colorful.

After 3 straight loss, Derrick Lewis surprised with a flying knee at the bell and finished the fight as soon as it started. This is his last fight in his UFC contract and hope he will continue with them.

Justin Gaethje knocked the lights off Dustin Poirier, it was the same kind of knockout Leon Edwards was able to pull against Kamaru Usman.

I actually did not think that UFC event would be so massive. Well I think ‘massive’ might be the wrong choice of words. I should say interesting. Because I genuinely did not think that Porier was going to get knocked out like that. That was a huge moment. There was a moment where the head kick landed from Justin Gaethje, but Porier was still standing for a second. I was actually a little amazed. I was thinking that surely he’s not going to eat a kick from Justin Gaethje, and still keep standing. But in the end after that one and a half second he did go to ground and Justin Gaethje delivered one/two Hammerfist to finish the job.

The ‘my balls was hot’ moment was also pretty interesting to say the least.

Gaethje doesn't really need that hammer fist the ref already run to stop him for it. The ref has already seen Poirier's lights out when he fell. It's a bit unbelievable to see him go down that way and the bettors banking on him must have been surprised by how quickly it happened. It wasn't like the fight of Crawford vs Spence which round after round we are expecting Spence to be KOed.

If Derrick was wearing a Speedo, I think it would be an issue. I think it was the reason why Rogan asked why he removed his shorts off.

At the weigh-ins Porier looked confident and promised a good show. I remember exactly that he said that it's gonna be blood and guts, but ended with stars over his head.
Anyway, the form of both fighters was good. Poirier started better with that good eye jab in the first round. He managed to cut Gaethie in the first minute, but that kick in the 2nd landed straight on the chin and neck. He was more technical in this fight with better boxing, but sometimes a single hit takes you down. It's interesting how he threw that kick just half a second after the punch. Basically right punch and right kick at the same time to blindside the opponent.

For the fight for the BMF championship belt yesterday, I still can't believe Justin Poirier was defeated by Gaethje in the second round, but if you look at Gaethje's kick, it is indeed very strong and whoever gets hit by the kick will definitely fall. .
The two fighters met quite brutally, but unfortunately Poirier, who had been believed to be the winner, actually lost badly.
Now the BMF title is held by Gaethje and perhaps he can be a worthy challenger for the lightweight title currently held by Islam Makhachev.

If Gaethje fights Islam Makhachev then I'm sure the fight will be even more exciting and of course many people will come in droves to watch the two champions in their respective classes fight for the title.

I think no one actually can complain about what happened in the UFC event. It was a great event.

What is the Hammerfist a little unnecessary from Justin Gaethje? It probably was. But it is always better to make sure that the job is done instead of him some whole waking up and putting the ref realizing that he has done a mistake. So I honestly cannot and will not say that it was too much from him. I personally think that he did the right thing.

And the other incident where the fighter took his shorts off was also certainly something that is going to create a lot of noise. So I don’t think anyone is actually going to complain about it. Indeed, I am well aware that Dana White, upon witnessing the significant buzz generated, will assuredly refrain from expressing dissatisfaction.

Actually, I made my bet but didn't post it here because the rain was heavy and the flood was entering the house it was a disaster so I had to bring up my PC on the high ground, where I could not set it up, but because I made my bet and I am seeing the fights late right now through the recap it was 1 epic fight for Justin Gaethje I got to admit Gaethje is researching his opponent well and studying Poirier in his previous fights well I have lost it because I have bet for Dustin Poirier on this one,

Dustin Poirier VS Justin Gaethje ROUND 2 KO/TKO - LOST

It was a great fight for Justin Gaethje and he has proven that he is really the "Bad Mother F" there is and he has proven it, here well Justin Gaethje is throwing a setup on Poirier the 1st round was just a setup for that knockout he is preparing for Dustin Poirier his right straight and that leg kick that Gaethje was throwing that low kick was a preparation for the high kick in the later round, but man! that round 2 was really a great thing for Gaethje to throw that naked high kick because the ground that Dustin Poirier was showing was for a boxer defense the Philly shell defense and setting up that combination of punch and kicks where Dustin Poirier doesn't have any defense for the high kick, and this had rocked him really hard,

Jan Błachowicz VS Alex Pereira ROUND 3 DECISION - WIN

There are many saying that this fight was a Robbery but after watching the replays I really don't know if it was a good replay that it was a great fight Alex Pereira is showing massive improvements on the ground game, it was thanks to his mentor Glover Teixeira that he surely unloads that rare naked-choke on Jan Blachwicz it was surely an improvement for the guy, and judging from this fight the Alex Pereira will now fight for the vacant Light Heavyweight Title, maybe against Jiří Procházka,

Michael Chiesa VS Kevin Holland ROUND 1 SUBMISSION - WIN

WOW! Kevin Holland wants the BMF belt so if the BMF wasnt in that division he will switch Divisions just to get it, and for sure fight Justin Gaethje over it, I never thought those guys will have interest in the BMF belt like that but it was surely 1 shiny belt and a trophy for a fighters collection, well the fight against Michael Chiesa was really fast you can surely see who is the one that is on the advantage on this fight and it was really Kevin Holland, that knee that made Chiesa fall, then following up with the D'Arche Choke was really a tremendous win for him and man those takedown defense was really impressive,

How similar was Justin Gaethje kick to Leon Edwards' kick. It was an awesome finish. He was in the same hall when Edwards kicked us, by the way, this cage has magical results every time. The hit and fall were almost the same. Justin got the BMF belt, he finished fiziev before, now it's Dustin Porier's walk to a very solid summit. The finish was pretty flashy, I think it might be the best finish of his career. Next will be a bigger test for Justin. Charles and Islam are getting pretty hot again in the lightweight to match the cauldron of the match. Wow, that's a pretty good card. Head kick City Hell.
