The main event was a decent fight, both of them had their moments but the judges decided in Royval's favour with a split decision. That's a first loss in Taira's record, but it shouldn't impact his position in the ranking.

It was more than decent imho...  It was pretty fcking good!  We all knew it was gonna be somewhat close but I was really surprised at how Taira fought his heart out.  It's a loss for him but it isn't an embarrassing loss.  Between Taira and Royval, I think Taira gained more in intangibles after this fight.  He now knows he def belongs in the top of the weight class and given a little more time, he's def go for the belt and win.  I'm thinking if he had fought Pantoja, he prolly would've won at the later rounds as Pantoja doesn't have a good gas tank as Royval.  But then again...  Dunno tho.  Lol.

As much as I don't want Jinx Topuria, he is indeed one of the best boxers in the UFC and he does have a strong chin to last a toe to toe fight in the middle with Max. This is going to be a show-off of counter-puncher skills.

Some people started to like Topuria already for provoking those fighters who had done nothing to get their status. I think gonna root for him.

Mmm...  For just 3 bucks and knowing how the fight was gonna play out, just gamble and put the money with the underdog imho.  At least your 3 bucks would be 10 bucks if you won.  Betting for Taira with just 3 bucks at 1.30 would win you just .90 cents...  But yeah, never mind betting a hundred to win just 30 bucks on the guy.  Not against Royval at least.

Anyway, I wonder who Taira gets next...  I'm thinking Taira should get Brandon Moreno next as they both lost vs Royval.  Lol.  I think the books might line it closer this time.

So looks like Shavkat is finally getting his title shot and won't be fighting Leon Edwards as some expected. The odds are not yet in but I'm sure he'll be the favourite.

I am very excited about UFC 310, the matches are very good.
Will a cardio machine like Belal Muhammed take Shavkat to the ground or control him, oh I am very curious and can't wait to see it.
Just look at the fight on the rest of the card, Ciryl Gane Vs. Alexander Volkov is a card that deserves attention.
It is also good to see Nick Diaz.

OK guys, are we seriously not going to talk about the proposed 4-man BMF tournament? I don't think so.
Long story short, Dustin Poirier, who is looking for something spectacular before announcing his retirement, suggested a 4-man tournament for the BMF belt on the line, consisting of himself, Justn Gaethje, Max Holloway and Dan Hooker. That means the winner will have to fight 2 fights in one night.
When asked by a reporter, Dana said the idea "sounds fun". Whether he actually will go with it - I don't know, but I think there's a chance as people are craving for something new and exciting.

The concept of fighting tournaments where fighters fight multiple times in one night is not new, it was a popular format used e.g. by K1/Pride FC back in the day.

This looks to me like another meh event in UFC coming this weekend, and I am not interested in watching most of the fights.
It is time to switch to PFL and watch MMA comeback of Francis NGannou against Renan Ferreira, and other legends like Cris Cyborg, AJ McKee Jr and others.
Maybe Dana intentionally arranged weaker card because he knew PFL Battle of the Giants is in the same time.

Having several fights per night indeed sounds found. Fighters used to have 3 full fights per night during Pride times. But I doubt that anyone today will be ready for two fights per night Dont think that anyone would kill himself to be ready to face two opponents just to get a BMF belt, as its value is questionable Is it even profitable for UFC? They will have to pay for two fights, when fighter who fights second time, wont show 100% performance, and might enter octagon just to lose and take money (if this is his last fight).

In my personal opinion this is honestly not a big fight but UFC 310 is still very interesting. Shavkat will be making his title debut. He is not a controversial fighter outside the octagon but his 100% finishing record is absolutely crazy. I favor Shavkat to win that fight. But it looks like he will lose his 100% finishing record. Belal is a cardio fighter and he has a chance to win with his cardio and wrestling.

The other fights are also very interesting. Ciryl Gane has kind of faded from the spotlight after his losses to Ngannou and Jones. Reyes is also a fighter who has had bad luck after losing to Blachowiz. I really want to see how these two fighters perform after a long time away from fighting.

True, it's not a very special card, especially when compared to the previous cards. There are still interesting matches for me.
The main match of the main card interests me, Shavkat and Belal, maybe that's why I've risen so much.
Can Shavkat finish Belal, who has a 100% finish rate, actually deep down I want him to finish him.
He's one of the few fighters who can dominate wrestling, so it seems like he can stop Belal, but of course I'm not sure. As for Ciryl Gane, if he wins this fight, he'll be heading towards a belt match again, it's a good opportunity for him.

Does anyone watches Tuporia's recent videos? I don't know why but my TikTok is full of his videos despite the fact that I don't type him in my search. By the way, he is copying Conor McGregor. If I were him, I would be very ashamed. He has a tatoo similar to McGregor, he even copy/pastes what McGregor has said in his career. Recently, he said that he is more black from the belly button down than Francis Ngannou. Conor said the same thing when he was fighting Floyd Mayweather.
I think he wants to make this fight similar To Jose Aldo Vs McGregor.

If Pride could make it work, then I can't see what would stop the UFC from doing the same. If the money is right, the fighters would take it, and if any of them doesn't - they will find a replacement easily.
Remember that only 2 of them would be fighting twice in one night, so it's just one extra fight. They could give the finalists a longer time to rest by doing some extra fights in between or just by making a break, but from the fighters' perspective, maybe they'd prefer a shorter break, so that adrenaline from the first fight doesn't wear off.

For today UFC Fight Night fights, there really aren't any fights that look interesting enough overall, but there is one fight that I think is better than the others and that is the fight between Royval vs Taira at flyweight.
Brandon Royval himself is flyweight fighter who has quite a lot of experience in this division and he is fighter who is challenger for the number 1 flyweight ranking and Tatsuro Taira here is an undefeated fighter in the 16 fights he has played, this will be fight that gives Taira an advantage and he is also the favorite.
For this fight I took the Double Chance betting option by choosing Taira to win by Submission or Points and gives odds @1.58, but unfortunately Royval fought very well and he dominated more so that victory was his, this was also the first defeat for Taira.

Unfortunately, Taira is unsuccessful in trying to submit Royval. He doesn't have much ground-striking, I think it would have changed the situation if he didn't rely on his grappling. He slowed down in the 3rd round too.  If it weren't for the takedowns, Ropyval could have won the fight by KO.

The fight didn't turn out the way we see it,  but I can see the fight deserves a rematch.

If look at the numbers obtained from each fighter, Royval is actually superior with fairly thin number, if Taira can focus more on fighting by continuing to press, he will likely win.
Royval gets more additional points in the 5th round because it is the best round for him and shows that he is getting harder in trying to bring down Taira and continues to put pressure on him which makes Taira unable to do much to match him.
But everything is over even though the results are not the same as expected, what is clear is that this victory will make it easier for Royval to really get fight that can give him the title, it is reported that Royval wants to fight Alexandre Pantoja.

Because they have to pay each fighter for each fight, and making a grand prix (winner takes everything) isnt fair towards those who lost and earned zero?

I don't use TikTok, but was getting some news/video feeds about Topuria, mainly about him announcing his willingness to move up to the lightweight to fight Islam after he defeats Holloway. But yeah, he has been very active recently by appearing on podcasts, giving interviews and trying to stir things up for publicity.
On one hand, you can't blame him, he has his 15 minutes and trying to squeeze as much out of it as possible. that includes doing his part in increasing PPV sales, for which he surely will receive his cut. On the other hand, there's that thing called decency and being a good human being. Doing anything for the money is a whorish behaviour.

Speaking about McGregor, he allegedly announced his return on 1 Feb 2025 naming Dan Hooker as his rival, but Dan denies that saying he's not available to fight in February, due to his wife expecting to give birth around that time. So it looks like Conor is just making stuff up just to slow the pace his hype is dying out.

It's not even just about Muhammad couldn't finish most of his opponents, he prolly will have a hard time taking down Shavkat Rakhmonov imho.  Muhammad will prolly get caught with a guillotine.  And on the feet, Rakhmonov is just waaay better than most of the guys at the top of 170.  And the guy looks kinda huge for the division.  Dunno, but I could see him move up to 185 in a couple of years.

As for Kai Asakura...  It's weird that he got a title shot right off the bat.  Just shows that 125 in the UFC is drying up.  And mmmm...  I don't think Asakura could win tho.  But we'll see.  He's prolly very good.

But imagine what hysteria would be, if Belal would finish Shavkhat by KO I think that will shut lots of mouths UFC is full for surprises. Nobody before believed that this guy show name people hardly remember, will beat Edwards. Edwards fought on his homeland, was on a hype after beating Usman twice. And still lost to Belal. However I would still go with Shavkhat.  

P.S. This weekends Ngannou fights in PFL against a guy who is even bigger than Ngannou

After Dvalishvili became a champ, social media started forcing his fight against Umar Nurmagomedov. While being under pressure, Dvalishvili agreed to fight him and commented something like "I am not running from nobody, if this what you want, I will fight him". But, it is said that Umar Nurmagomedov will be fighting Song Ya Dong on UFC on ESPN 63 this December.

What do you think about it? Fake? Or we might have Dvalishvili vs O'Malley 2 ?
