I did not follow the Test match between NZ and India but now surprised to see the result. India lost by 10 wickets! LOL

Since you did not follow the match you are surprised, i was thinking how fast New Zealand could win the match .

What are we seeing here?
After trashing New Zealand in the T20 series they somehow lost their way? Bad performance in ODI series and now bad start in the Test series too? I would like to know how the Indian locals are feeling about it?

New Zealand pulling themselves from the T20 disaster and dominating India and that is what we are seeing.

The problems with the team are never ending. Virat's not performing, openers not performing, Rohit is injured, Bumrah is unable to take wickets, choosing inexperienced and out of form players instead of experienced ones. Indian team are not dependent on Virat as when he performs too, the bowlers fail and when he doesn't, Rohit, Rahul and Iyer come to the rescue and this time we had none.

I am surprised why KL Rahul is not in the team as he is the inform batsman and they had experience in Rahane and Pujara but they could make an impact.

Okay Rahul name popping so.. We should not forget that management already tried him as test opener in South Africa, England and Australia and he was part of the team for 2 long years. he failed miserably there except one occasion where he made a hundred (England) in losing cause after 8 inning or so. this 100 saved him despite it was not very important inning in the match situation. then his bad form continue in Australia that's where Mayank got the Test cap and Rahul got kicked.

Dhawan didn't played any competitive cricket for 2 whole month before Australian tour and got injured followed by bad form then drop from the test team. so he's responsible for his exclusion, he didn't want to play test cricket anyway as he's getting old.

Rohit was supposed to play in England and Australia but every time got injured in limited over cricket. Same thing happen here in New Zealand, so automatically drop

would like to know how the Indian locals are feeling about it?

Not heartbreaking but disappointed because this team has capability of putting up fight or winning the test match in SENA countries. I was afraid that India is going to lose if they lose the toss and it happened but i was not expecting this kind of bad performances from the Team as they have many match winning players, Win-lose is part of the game, you win some you lose some so its completely fine but losing in such manner looks bad for no 1 team. Now, how we are supposed to troll English team?  hiding face lol 

let's hope they bounce back and perform in the next game, if not winning then at-least put some great fight. that's what test cricket is all about.

Today I woke up at 6am, hoping to watch a few overs of play before departing for office. But by the time I switched on the television, match was over. It was difficult to believe. They were at 144/4 yesterday. During the first session of play today, they added 47 runs in 16 overs, losing 6 of their remaining wickets. For me, it was difficult to digest at first..

We should not forget that management already tried him as test opener in South Africa, England and Australia and he was part of the team for 2 long years. he failed miserably there except one occasion where he made a hundred (England) in losing cause after 8 inning or so. this 100 saved him despite it was not very important inning in the match situation. then his bad form continue in Australia that's where Mayank got the Test cap and Rahul got kicked.

You have to take into consideration about the form of a player, KL Rahul was in good in this tour and they should retain players who are in good form rather than experimenting too much even when their regular opener Rohit Sharma is injured, even in the limited overs KL Rahul did not have a designated position and he was a floater and still scoring runs.
The Indian bowlers were rusty except Ishant Sharma and the series depends upon how the Indian batsman could rebound from this loss and start scoring some runs and if that happens then they have the bowlers to defend the score.

Fair enough, i agree with this argument that they should retain inform players. but that's the same formula which team management followed last time in case of KL Rahul > He scored runs in IPL > got promotion in ODI and T-20 Team as back up opener> scored century against Ireland in T-20 and voila Test spot got fixed in England's tour. So question is, they should repeat same mistake again or they should bet on any new batsman? They opted for new player Prithvi this time because of simple reason, IPL and T-20 format is not the criteria to select anyone in the Test format.

May be India is focused on the T20 tournaments considering the World Cup is coming up and the rest of the formats they are experimenting and it is not that easy to face New Zealand in their turf and New Zealand dominated them in the first Test, the batsman has to play well against the New Zealand bowlers as they were not able to put up a battle against the pacers.

May be India is focused on the T20 tournaments considering the World Cup is coming up and the rest of the formats they are experimenting and it is not that easy to face New Zealand in their turf and New Zealand dominated them in the first Test, the batsman has to play well against the New Zealand bowlers as they were not able to put up a battle against the pacers.

Now just three days and second test match is going to played at Christchurch they need to play attacking cricket because now they have only two choices lost or draw series so its very tricky situation because if New Zealand will win then surely they are coming at third in test ranking ahead of England and India going to lost few points as well.

Zimbabwe are losing quick wickets and have already lost 5 for a score of just 114 runs . They need to stand in the pitch and play as long as possible as this will give the boost to batsman as well for coming matches . They are losing to Bangladesh this badly and if they play to the likes of NZ, OZ then they stand nowhere considering this test match . Zimbabwe trail by another 183 runs and should try to reduce or reach as closer to this target and make Bangladesh bat again in 4th innings.

Rahul and Iyer together couldn't help the team in ODI too so I wouldn't be sure that him being in the team also would make any difference. When Virat himself was in form and lost back-to-back matches, can't expect it from other players. Rahane and Pujara can't manage to get even 50 runs now. They performed better in warmup matches.

No doubt Tim southee's match figures 4/49 and 5/61 has really washed Indian team who is no 1 in ICC ranking. It's first defeat of Indian team in ICC world test championship hope the men in blue will learn from this loss and come back soon coz they don't want to loose ICC test world championship as they have all ICC trophies...

The reason i see is that KL Rahul is a good batsman with a really defense which is really important in the Test format as there are not much rules that are favoring the batsman and it will Test the skill of the batsman including his patience and from what i have seen from his game KL Rahul has a good defense as well as offense, Prithvi Shaw is a future prospect but i have not seen him play, form of a player is all about confidence and once you have that then you can play any format.

IPL is the biggest test for him as he never lead his team well even with super stars and my bet is that Dhoni will make a statement by winning the tournament once again so that there will be an outcry to put him in the T20 World Cup team.

It is true that he hasn't performed consistently in the past, but I wanted him in the team due to his current form which is spectacular. Current form should be the primary criteria for selection which is why he is ahead when compared to others in that department regardless of the format.

I would not care much if this was the only lose. But see back and you will see they have lost all the matches in the ODI series too and this last Test was just the continuation of the downfall.

They have such a good record of wining test recently and a single loss shouldn't be trolled that much.

When expectation does not meet the reality then we see these kind of situations. Expectation from Kohli and team is really high so anything goes a little wrong backfires then hard.
