Sri Lanka played very well in Test matches against Bangladesh. They won both matches showing how good they are in this cricket format. Bangladesh played little better in T20 and ODI matches but they struggled in Test matches. They did not score many runs in any of four innings they played. Only Sri Lanka's excellent performance could not keep them ahead of Bangladesh, while Bangladesh's poor performance also helped them to beat Bangladesh by a huge margin of runs. We could not even imagine that Bangladesh will perform such a bad performance against Sri Lanka because earlier Bangladesh has performed very well against all these teams like India, New Zealand, England and Afghanistan on the soil of Bengal and even defeated them. I can't accept it.
It has to be accepted that the Bangladeshi players, especially in Tests, are in such a bad mood that they have no patience or mentality to play Tests. They must be coached well and practice mental attitude and patience and then advised to play Tests. Especially the top order of Bangladesh has not improved so far but they have deteriorated so much that Bangladesh is losing every match due to the failure of the batsmen in the top order.

You are right that it is beyond imagination that Bangladesh team will bat so badly against Sri Lanka. Because Bangladesh bowled fairly well against Sri Lanka but the batting line of the Bangladesh team was the worst. It feels really bad to see the Bangladesh batting failure. If the batsmen of Bangladesh could have batted responsibly against Sri Lanka, then of course the Bangladesh team would not have won the test series against Sri Lanka, but the test series would have drawn one draw. Test match whitewash because of normal batting of Bangladesh Mehdi Hasan Miraj batted very well in the second innings in the second test match of Bangladesh if two batsmen could have batted like him Bangladesh would have won the second test match.

The Bangladesh team lost the first test match against Sri Lanka due to their poor batting performance. Bangladesh should have batted more responsibly in the second test match against Sri Lanka. Bangladesh bowled very well in the second innings of the second test match. If the bowlers of Bangladesh had bowled like that in the first innings of the second test match against Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka would have been limited to very few runs. I read in a news that a member of the selector of the panel of Bangladesh expressed his regret about this test series in Bangladesh. He said that Bangladesh played an unprofessional Test match against Sri Lanka where they had high expectations but failed to deliver. A member of that selection panel also said that none of the Bangladeshi members had prepared before playing the Test match against Sri Lanka. Perhaps this is a mistake for the Bangladeshi players as they should have participated in a warm-up match before taking part in the Test series against Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh could have done well in this Test series against Sri Lanka if they had prepared ahead of the Test series against Sri Lanka and played a three-day warm-up match. Moreover, the lack of performance of all the players in the Bangladesh team is the main reason for Bangladesh's loss against Sri Lanka. Many thought that if Shakib Al Hasan joined, the team might be stronger but Shakib Al Hasan was out of the team for a long time due to which he could not fully engage himself in the game. However, many regular players of the team have given the worst performance especially Liton Kumar Das Nazmul Hossain Shanto.

This is the risk when you depend too much on tailored pitches to win matches. The issue here was that Sri Lanka had better spinners, and their pacers are quite experienced in bowling under unsupportive conditions. Bangladesh's weakness in longer format results from the lack of a proper 4-day structure back home. And BCB is not taking any action at this time.

Bangladeshi players play the test matches to earn money from the match fee. They don't show any responsibility which can help the team to get the victory. Bangladesh has won only 1 match among their top 5 scoring innings in test matches. It proves how irresponsible they are in test matches. BCB president showed some strictness in front of the press after the end of first match, but we haven't seen the result of his words on the second test.

The Bangladesh team performed really badly in the Test matches due to which they fell to the lowest position in the points table. And the two test matches played by Bangladesh team against Sri Lanka were the worst performances due to which they lost their ranking points, if they could have won they would have been in a good position. As the Sri Lankan team performed well in the Test match against Bangladesh, if they improve a little more in the next matches, they can occupy a good position in the points table. Both the bowling and batting line-up of the Sri Lankan team in the ODI series and the Test series were excellent which helped them to win and occupy a good position in the points table and their current form will definitely improve in the future. In Bangladesh team I think currently there are not many experienced players due to which they could not improve their bowling and batting due to which they have to lose regularly. So, Bangladesh must play the matches responsibly and complete their batting and bowling line-ups well to win the next matches and move to a good position in the points table.

Sri Lanka do produce quality talent, despite the absence of a proper first-class system. Kamindu Mendis and Matheesha Pathirana are perfect examples. If they can organize a proper region-based 4-day competition, then in the long term it will benefit the national team. But they don't have any quality players outside Colombo. One way is to distribute the Colombo players to different regions and then organize the tournament. But if they do so, there is no guarantee that the locals will support the respective teams.

Bangladesh team lost the first test match against Sri Lanka very badly due to bad batting. Maybe I thought that the world's best all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan joined in the second test match, maybe the Bangladesh team would win the second test match and finally equalize, but even in the second test match, Bangladesh's batting line was very bad. In the first innings of the second test match, the Bangladesh bowlers could have bowled more controlled and bowled aggressively against the Sri Lankan batsmen from the beginning, then Sri Lanka would never have given such a big lead to Bangladesh. Bangladesh team lost both the first test match and the second test match very badly against Sri Lanka. But New Zealand, Australia and India will be very challenging teams for Sri Lanka and when Sri Lanka plays against them I don't think they can cross more than 300 runs in any innings. Most likely they will collect less than 300 runs per innings. So there is no chance for Sri Lanka to be very happy winning the match with Bangladesh by such a high run margin. Because challenging matches are waiting for them in the coming days. They will have a lot of trouble to deal with them

Gap between pig-4 and the remaining teams keep on increasing. Only exception is that of South Africa and Pakistan. They have managed to remain competitive. Teams like West Indies, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka have gone down the drain as far as test cricket is concerned. Now my question is, why these countries need to play test cricket? The ICC is forcing them, but neither the boards nor the players want to play. Money is in T20. Test format is quite a lot effort intensive, and at the same time salaries are low (when compared to that in franchise T20 leagues).

So if all the money and hype is in T20 and ODI, then ICC should abandon the test cricket completely. there is no point in only the three or four countries to play the test cricket.

If you ask me, the real battle is seen the test cricket. You can talk about the Ashes or the India Pakistan Test series (if it ever comes again in the future  ). Such matches can not only fill the stadium but can generate revenue just like the shorter format of the cricket.

The ICC should try to boost the quality of cricket in nations like Bangladesh, Srilanka, Zimbabwe, Pakistan and even South Africa by giving them funds to improve their infrastructure. Another point to note is that if a team is weak in test matches, they will remain weak in T20 and ODIs too. Similarly, a team who is strong will show good performances in all three formats of cricket.

Bangladesh performed poorly in two test matches against Sri Lanka but still you must not be unhappy with Bangladesh's performance because it is better to get no wickets by bowling on good quality wickets than getting 10 wickets by bowling on bad quality wickets.

For this Test series Curator did not produce such poor quality wickets and Bangladesh did not take home advantage which is why Bangladesh performed so poorly. If these two Test matches were held in Mirpur, believe me, the Sri Lankan batsmen would not have been able to stand in front of the Bangladeshi bowlers. 

Kudos to BCB for not producing such poor quality wickets in the Test series. There is no problem with Bangladesh losing because Bangladesh can win again but the negative image created in all cricket circles by producing such poor quality wickets is much worse than losing.

This section is going to be silent for a while. For the next 3-4 moths, most of the teams will be busy preparing for the T20 world cup. Next test series is scheduled to begin by 10th July, when England will host West Indies for a 3-match series. We can expect some quite one-sided matches, as the English pace battery of James Anderson, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes and Ollie Robinson will be up against the out of form West Indian batsmen.

2016 and 2017 were memorable years in Bangladesh cricket, Bangladesh won the most matches in those two years. Since then, Bangladesh has not been able to maintain their winning streak, but Bangladesh has always played better cricket in the ODI format compared to other formats. I think one of the reasons why the Bangladesh team gave such a bad performance in the Test matches is that Tests are not practiced in that way in their team or in their country.

If we look at India we can see how much importance they give to Tests which is why they host important Test tournaments like Ranji Trophy in their country.From where every year new talented test experienced batsmen and bowlers are produced. If such Test competitive tournaments are organized in Bangladesh like them then maybe the Test format of Bangladesh can improve.

Right Bangladeshi Cricket Board should focus on test cricket because test cricket is main cricket. Bangladeshi Cricket Board did not change the squad for test matches and they picked the players on basis of players performance in ODI matches. Bangladeshi Cricket Board should  establish test cricket tournaments . In this way, youngesters will come  in the market and seniors should check their patience level because in test format patience matters a lot .

Sri Lankan International test cricket team won the series very easily because of their patience level. They focus on their goal . I am not fan of Sri Lankan International test cricket team because they always lose matches against big teams like India and Australia.

If any team wants a consistent performance in all three formats of cricket, they should dominate and start to win the test matches. It is usually seen that the teams that are strong in test cricket, they will usually do good in all three formats of cricket.

However, if a team has only a hitter and can play limited over cricket better, their performance won't be sustainable. Examples of such teams are West Indies or Pakistan, where these teams win the matches by chance and lose the majority of the match because of low-performing batsmen and bowlers who lack the test match playing expertise.
In short, teams need to focus on test cricket and they should take test matches seriously as those are building blocks of the team and it will help them in shorter formats too.

Bangladesh has always been weak in the five-day game. Bangladesh got test recognition a long time ago. From the time when Bangladesh received Test recognition till now, there has been no significant success in Test cricket in Bangladesh. In contrast to Bangladesh if we look at Afghanistan they got Test playing recognition only a few years ago and these few years back they proved themselves as a team capable of playing Tests. Bangladesh team definitely has good quality coaches and good quality players and regularly hosts various domestic leagues in Bangladesh but still Bangladesh's performance is always poor especially in test format. Those who are selectors or head coaches must take this issue seriously. Maybe the popularity of test cricket is not so much but test is one of the most important format of cricket.

The performance of Bangladeshi International test cricket team is not good. They should work on their weaknesses. Otherwise ,they cannot achieve good position in points table of test format. They are not performing good in all formats. But I am very surprised to see Bangladeshi International test cricket team with no power. In last two years , they didn't play well in all formats. But before 5 years Bangladeshi International cricket team was very strong and they won matches against big teams.They won  series against Pakistan and South Africa. That was good achievement.

Yeh I think due to lack of experience player they unable to divert results in thier favour no doubt they have plenty of experience high quality player who has achieved name through out the cricket world but as soon as he retired thier team unable to fill his place, but I think there is huge mistake of thier management committee who has not able to get talent despite having dozen of young star but according to some Bangladeshi local that there is huge corruption in BCB and despite of giving opportunity to Young talent they give opportunity to those who had some kind of reference or source. Anyway it's thier personal matter but the things is they should work on his team because in upcoming ICC competition they will face huge huge trouble to qualify for next round of the tournament

This section is going to be silent for a while. For the next 3-4 moths, most of the teams will be busy preparing for the T20 world cup. Next test series is scheduled to begin by 10th July, when England will host West Indies for a 3-match series. We can expect some quite one-sided matches, as the English pace battery of James Anderson, Mark Wood, Jofra Archer, Chris Woakes and Ollie Robinson will be up against the out of form West Indian batsmen.

We need changes in this format with few teams needed to be stopped against top teams because this is completely boring time for the fans while they are waiting for this format, but few are still expecting we can have upset like we have from the West indies in last test match of the series.
No doubt things are clearly favorable for the England at home as their pace battery is doing good with the advantage of home conditions and West Indies in on rebuild with most chances It's going to be not easy for them to have good results in every series but if we have some good work from ICC as they bring 2 tiers then we can expect better results and entertainment for the test lovers.

Yes ,you are right. ICC tournaments are more tougher than any series. In ICC tournament,they will be top class teams of the World. But in my opinion, Bangladeshi International ODI or T20 cricket team is not able to win against big teams like India and Australia. Bangladeshi Cricket Board will not solve the problem and Bangladeshi International cricket team will be in trouble in ICC tournaments because no player is performing good. No player is playing for his country and there is no mutual partnership between players. So , there are no chances of Bangladeshi International cricket team to qualify for  semi final in ICC tournament.

Once in a while, we get huge upsets, such as the win by West Indies against Australia. But nowadays, the gap between pig-4 and the rest of the teams have widened. Given this, there is no logic in organizing matches between pig-4 and weak teams such as West Indies/Bangladesh. It will further erode the popularity of test cricket. Only 5-6 teams are capable of playing test cricket at the moment. Let's limit test cricket to these teams. For others, playing 2-3 matches per year is going to be more than enough.
