Never expected Atletico Madrid to be defeated like this. Atletico Madrid played well in the game they took many shots on the goal post but were unable to score. The opposition managed to score a goal brilliantly. They basically played a defensive game and conceded a goal when they saw an opportunity.

Atlético Madrid performance this season was truly beyond expectation because Atletico Madrid had just been knocked out in the Champions League group stage and also their performance in the domestic league was really bad where in the last 5 matches, Atletico Madrid only won 1 win. For me, Atletico Madrid performance declined due to their less aggressive front line because Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann often had less efficient finishing in finishing. maybe Diego Simeone should look for a quality sticker figure in the January transfer window. maybe this season Atletico madrid should be out of the title race because the difference in points from the leaders is 13 points and difficult to catch if the performance of Atletico Madrid front line has problems in goal productivity.

I see some people who think that Simeone should make some changes in his preferences from now on. However I'm even thinking about the probability of his leaving Atletico Madrid at the end of the season. Because this is even a more unsuccessful season comparing to the last one. At least they qualified from their Champions League group last season. But now they are just not even a part of the Europa League anymore after the group stage. It is even doubtful if they can finish the season in top 4 considering the recent effort level.

Maybe it is time for Atletico Madrid to part ways with Simeone and try someone new with different tactics. I believe that this team deserve to play an attacking focused game mostly in a match. There is a very capable squad for this. They shouldn't play very cautiously unless it is really necessary in some kind of an important match.

I would have noticed that last year despite the disaster in the championship in the Champions League Atlético did very well and City had a lot of problems with them - in fact in the second game City played for time trying to keep the minimum score that suits them. But the trend at that moment had apparently already been determined and this season Atlético suffers a wreck in both competitions. I don't know how well Atlético should do by the end of the season so that Simeone's sacking isn't an issue.

With this defeat it is clear that they have to be content with being at the bottom which is actually not very good for them especially now that they are very close to the relegation zone.

I've never heard rumors about Simeone going to be sacked even though Atletico Madrid's situation is not good as the management will continue to make amends from mistakes and Simeone is still not looking for his best qualities in the current phase of the season in the UCL can't be done in LaLiga it's still going on struggling with his victory and this is still no right decision for it.

We'll see later in the winter transfer whether Simeone has a list of players he wants while the management must agree to all of this for the good of the team and Simeone is very attached to Atletico.

I agree that "El Cholo" seems a bit tired after so many years training the team. But, as you said, last seasons was the same, and they still managed to hold to the third place. Failing to do at least so this year would suppose a rupture in a trend that lasts more than 10 years now.

Surprisingly the outcome of the game last night didn't go as I expected, I even placed a bet on Atletico Madrid to win the game and an over 2.5 goal margin but it went the opposite  way and I lost the bet. Mallorca were impressive in the game and gave everything to hold Atletico Madrid from getting back a goal to draw the match. Atletico on the other hand were sluggish in the first half and tried to get a goal back in the second half but found it difficult to do so. Good game from Mallocca they showed resilience throughout the game.

In last five matches they have only five points which bring them down to sixth spot and with the worst exit from Champions League they are looking in poor form even now we have break and surely it's good time for coach and management to talk about things which can bring moral and confidence back because right now they can go more down which is surely not good for them.

If they want to do good end of this season then surely they need to improve performance and have to better strategy which will bring them back on their spot because if they are not going into Champions League for the next season then surely they can face consequences for this all which can bring more financial issues as well in last three games they are badly down specially at home as they were playing against ten men Espanyol.

Simeone has been at Los Rojiblancos for more than a decade of course this is quite a long time for a coach but indeed at this point he seems too tired and sometimes has internal problems with the players like some of his decisions last season.
A lot of people expected him to step down at the moment but judging by his statements after being knocked out in the Champions League it seems like he still hopes to continue coaching here even if it's a bit difficult.
The hope now is that hopefully there will be some changes for Atletico after this half of the season.
