Last season they were able to compete with Real Madrid even though at the end they had to be displaced by Barcelona and Atletico Madrid and had to settle for finishing in 4th position. But it's better than now who are in the top 3 from the bottom. 
I don't know what happened to this team that made them drop significantly from the previous season. They now don't target anything high, getting out of the red zone will be very good for them.

I think it would require lots of efforts and very good signing for sevilla to avoid the drop this season. The club got broke, lost their best players; lost their best loanee players and appropriately struggled this season in the champions league and spanish division. If quality signings are not made and the squad improves. Sevilla is well on course to get relegated.

Also, I think it is time for Simeone and Atletico to go their seperate ways; it just isn't working anymore

Atletico Madrid seem to have lost that confidence and determination they started the season with, they have failed to maintain that momentum they kicked off the season with and as a result have been struggling to win games recently. I can't really tell what the problem is but for a team of this calibre a lot is expected as well as good results in all competitions in the season. I don't know if Simeone is leaving but fir the time being the situation has to change.
