Yes, I also read this news and was quite surprised. one of Man City's key players is rumored to be moving to Barcelona, not a rumor, but it was just agreed. This is really a bit surprising. And I'm quite curious what made him interested in going to Barcelona rather than staying at the club that had just won the treble winner. But indeed, if I'm not mistaken, Pep Guardiola once gave a code if he would not extend the contract of this midfielder from Germany. Moreover, Barcelona gave the option of a contract extension later. And this might suit him because what's more, he's no longer a young player. And if it does work, Barcelona will be even stronger than they should be.

With Manchester city signing Kovacic from Chelsea; i do not think they expect Gundogan to stay. Its been over a year dragging contract terms and they have been unable to reach an agreement. Kovacic and Gundogan are different midfielders. Kovacic is more similar to Kante and Gundogan is more similar to Kroos or Modric. I mean Kovacic is a defensive midfielder and Gundogan is an attacking midfielder so sure they have different styles.

Manchester City did him an injustice. As the team captain, he undertook important missions in many matches. He scored goals, scored and won games. Ilkay Gundogan is a very accomplished midfielder, he has even taken part in bringing Manchester City to have several trophies this season.
Manchester City could not do much when Ilkay Gundogan had to leave the club and move to Barcelona this transfer season.

Madrid lost a good moment at the start of last season. that's what makes it difficult for them to catch Barca. if there is a team that is more consistent than the two next season, it is possible that both of them will struggle next season.

Even Atletico have only been able to do it twice in this decade because their dominance is only in Madrid and Barcelona and nothing else.

I agree, this is more like a continuation of Real Madrid's game aimed at getting a striker at the right price. It makes no sense to pay huge money for Kane or Mbappe, given the age of the first and the duration of the contract of the second.

Kane made several years a big waste when all he did was holding on to a club that has one of the poorest performances in Europe. He had a chance to have signed for any team that would have paid so on him; but getting signed at this age will definitely be a loss for Madrid as he's got only a few more years to play.
On the other hand, mbappe wasn't even comfortable staying in PSG that long... I can remember when he wanted to leave as soon as possible when Messi was singed... I know that in both cases he would have been fine financially, but PSG offered him so much money that he rightfully thought he couldn't resist. I think I would have done the same. It is quite unexpected that the rumors that have been circulating since last month have finally come to fruition and it seems that barcelona are very lucky that they did not pay a transfer fee for a great midfielder like Ilkay Gundogan. There is nothing too special about Barcelona, ATM and Madrid in Laliga.  The difference between them and other clubs is money.
