I believe the key reason is that some of their players failed to meet the expectations and poor recruitment process, which are closely related. Squad depth is not limited to how many subs are available for each match, but how well they fill the roles or help the team win under unideal circumstances. On top of that, squad depth is not the only contributing factor IMO. Even if you have 30 backup players but none of them can understand what the coach wants or the coach simply doesn't know how to use them, then it won't change anything at all. CMIIW.

Were you thinking that Barca will be able to have the hope of winning Laliga this season. They didn't just lost it yesterday, they have already lost it since last year December, when they were unable to be consistent with their matches. Girona has been the only one threatening Madrid on the title, but they have also lost it too. Barca should think of fight for the second position instead of having hope that they can win the league when it is impossible for that to happen. However, no one can tell if Barca will still lose or draw more matches.

Barca wasn't weak team after Messi left, they win the league last season, and we were singing the praises of Xavi and Barca player. It is just too strange to see how we forget things easily. However, people are not happy with their current performance because Barca is always on a good form most times, but this season is the season that they have put in a poor performance in the games. The problem is lack of funds to buy new quality players that has being their hinderance on have a stable quality performance. If not Xavi would have bought good players.
