It is indeed rare that smaller clubs successfully establish themselves at the top of the best leagues in Europe. One such example that was expected to make the cut but did not was Newcastle United. When they played this strong season in 22/23, I thought they would take a lot of money and make a lot of right decisions to become a reliable top candidate in the Premier League. They are still not a bad team of course, but they are quite far below their level from last season. At the beginning of the season, I don't think anybody knows if their performance will be that great. People keep repeating that Girona can't even end up in the top four, but there is a great probability that Girona will surely be in the top four and qualified for the next season's champions league, which is even a great pride to them even though they can't win the league this season.

I think you're wrong about them. If you've been following Girona you'll notice that these change in performance started since last season, even though they were not nearly as good last season. I'm not saying they'll continue to remain a top 4 team or a team that will fight for the league, but they won't just go back to being a relegation team next season. They have rich owners, even though they can't generate money as the big teams, their investors won't let their investments go to waste.

I believe Girona would strengthen their squad in the next transfer window. They know they areas they're lacking, like the defense for example.
What I'm sure if next season is that Giron would be among the teams in the top 10 and I believe they would even fight to be get a spot in Europe. They have good management and if they make the right decisions, they can have a very good future.

If we look at the traces left by Girona in Laliga (Premier Division). I don't think Girona deserves to be called a seasonal team. Now that I look at them beating Ossasuna, and I am like "yeah of course, as expected".
