He'll! This should be his last time with the National Team. It's a chance for him to try again to win the World Cup just to show that he ain't no finished player yet. Portugal side has brilliant lads who can hurt Ghana regardless of how compact they choose to play. If they can play team football and not individual football then, they'll be unstoppable.

Ronaldo is playing as a striker and strikers don't have to do much except score the goals when the chances are created for them. So I still don't understand why people say Ronaldo doesn't have the strength to do such anymore. He has been scoring goals for a living and although he can't scored the brilliant goals he usually scores in the past but that doesn't mean he can't scored the goals that have been worked for him by the team. Every trophy won by a team is usually the efforts of the team work and not one man work alone, so Ronaldo is still capable of contributing to the team until he decided to retire.

In the game against Ghana, Ronaldo found the net but it was cancelled since the whistle has already gone for a foul against the Ghanian defender which to me that wasn't a foul but a 50/50 chance for both players. The game is currently is goalless but as expected, Portugal are the dominate side with Ghana only hope of getting something from this game is a counter attack which so far the Portuguese side has been able to prevent as they're constantly closed down the Ghana playes whenever they're with the ball.

This world cup so far has been boring for the African continent. We don't have a goal or win yet to celebrate and it's frustrating watching all the lost and draws we're having. Hoping when our representing teams play the second leg of the group stages, we'll get some goals to celebrate.

I'm not a big fan of J. Ayew, but the entire Ghana hope is on A. Ayew and Partey.

A. Ayew has been one of the problems of Ghana in this their first half game against Portugal, he is the player meant to push attack but from what I saw in the first half he was playing more like Partey a defensive midfielder, turning back to pass each time he had the opportunity to run forward. No real attempt in the first half unlike what we saw from Cameroon. I have also observed that there are no speedsters in this Ghanian side that is trying to run into the Portugal Defense.

It has been really disappointing that no African team has scored any goal yet, we hope that Ghana can change that.

Truly  disappointed in the African teams playing at the world cup in Qatar. So far no African team has scored a goal and not to mention even a to secure a win in the first round of matches.
My hope for the African team was the Senegalese team that has been very wonderful in terms of their performance in their games in the afcon and qualifiers in the world cup.

With the absence of their star man, Sadio mane who has been very wonderful in winning matches for them. I think  The Senegalese would have scored a goal if the star man was present

It's quite disappointing that no African team has scored a goal in the World Cup. Senegal played a solid game against the Netherlands despite the absence of their top player Sadio Mane, but luck was not on their side that day. But I remain certain that Senegal will move to the next round of the game. They're the best African squad currently competing in the World Cup, and I'm confident they'll make Africans pleased to have them there. Let's keep an eye on their next match against Qatar, which I predict they'll win easily given how terribly Qatar performed in their first game against Ecuador.

I don't think Ghanaians are capable of tonight's performance. They simply played as though they were going to war with Portugal in the first half. A defensive and programmed aggressive game is played during the first half. The moment Ronaldo scored by penalty they break free by playing like Africa and they perform very well.

I'm unable to understand why Ghana's coach had to take out Ayew and Kudus, who posed a danger to Portugal's defense.

I think the keeper decided to reward the Ghanaian team since no African team has been able to score a goal in the competition. The coach of Ghana should be held responsible for the defeat of Ghana because I believe they played under his instructions and that didn't end well for them. How can an entire team be hoping on a particular player to make runs and also score the goals that are crazy and the funniest part of the game was the changes that were made by the Ghana coach beautiful nonsense.

The Portuguese players are more experienced than the Ghanaian players that was why they killed the time in the game because they were unable to match the strength of the Ghanaian attackers when they got the second goal.

It's strange how many people were underestimating Switzerland, it kept seeming that Cameroon was a great team so Switzerland would have no chance of beating Cameroon, but looking at Switzerland it was clear that Switzerland would win this game, at least for me I didn't I saw no chance for Cameroon to win in this game and as I predicted Switzerland won the game, I saw some comments from some people on a website where they complained that the game had to end in a draw, but they forget that the one who scores goals is the winner, the African teams so far have not been able to at least have one victory, which is somewhat regrettable and sad

I must say that I am sort of disappointed with the performance of the African teams in the world cup. I expected a lot better from Cameron, I expected to see a better performance from them and also expected to see Abubaka but Cameron were a little sloppy and showing respect to their opponents which most african teams are also guilty of. It is so sad that until tonight's game against Portugal no African team has even scored a goal so far.

Ayew was the only one making dangerous off-ball movements, but no one could pick him out of the midfield; you can't expect him to force an attack on his own when the midfield has already been dominated. Ghana had a terrible first half, no doubt. They sat back, attempting to break the link between Ronaldo and Fernandez, which is the best thing any team could do given how dangerous these players are when given a little space. A. Ayew is always the hero, but when things go wrong, he is always the scapegoat.

The only mistake was Addo's substitution of A. Ayew for J. Ayew; they were on a high tempo to win the game before that substitution, and it didn't take Portugal long to score twice after he was taken off, but overall it was a good game for both teams. How did Williams blow that last-second chance to convert on that Gk drop? He only needed to turn and shoot, but he wanted to control the ball before scoring. danm.

Like you who can't understand it, I'm sure all the spectators, especially the Ghana fans, also don't understand and can't stop thinking about how the Ghana coach could replace two players who actually played an important role in Ghana's first goal so they could equalize. and this substitution immediately allowed Portugal to score two goals with a short time interval, and we can see on the bench how disappointed Ayew was with Portugal's two goals after he was substituted, maybe we would have seen different results if the Ghanaian coach could be more observant in choosing the players to be substituted

Frankly I enjoyed the second goal which was scored by Bukari and the Siu celebration he did later, even Ronaldo was amazed. Ghana actually surprised me in that game. Out of all the Africa nations that went to Qatar they were my least favorite to do something. It's just occuring to me that Ghana was bond to score as their recent World cup appreance has all came with a goal. I underestimated them and so did the Portuguese side because of how poorly they played at the first half.

Now that an African nation has gotten a goal, I think it's high time we get a win at the world cup. Senegal plays Qatar today and that must be a must win game for Senegal and Qatar as well because anybody who lose should probably start packing their bags to go home as their chances of progressing has been lost. My bet is on Senegal to win that game convincingly. I hope Qatar hasn't bribe the Senegal side as the rumor of them doing that in previous game was reported.

This World Cup happened in a period that I am not much occupied such that I have to watch literally all the matches. I have watched almost all the matches of the African countries, despite that none won in this first stage of the group match, I can confirm that most of if not all of the African countries played good football and have a steady good team.
This means that they could get a better results in the second round of the group stage.

Ghana have given Africans a sigh of relieve. Two wonderful goals against one of the best teams in the world is a great achievement that should give African teams that motivation that they can do more. I was more disappointed with Senegal because I expected more from them but they didn't put in their best. Most African team seems to loose concentration in the second half. Ghana would have gotten a better result if they had coordinated their defense well. Their defense seems to always give space to other striker while they only focus only on the striker that is holding the ball. It would be shameful that no African team makes it to at least the quarterfinals of this competition because they have the right quality players. But I am confident that these teams have learnt their lesson and the next group matches would be a goal feast for Africans

In the second match against the hosts of the world cup tonight I think Aliao Cisse's troops will get the victory we really hoped for today, Kalidou Koulibaly cs must get a landslide victory over Qatar because today's match is the match that determines Senegal qualify from Group A for following the next match at the 2022 Qatar World Cup.
Indeed, I consider the first match against the Netherlands as a defeat of class and I consider it natural for Senegal, but tonight against Qatar in my opinion, Aliao Cisse and his troops in terms of players and experience were able to destroy Félix Sánchez Bas's troops.

Usually there will be surprises from African teams but so far there haven't been, 3 teams that have played only resulted in 1 defeat, namely Senegal and 2 teams won draws, namely Tunisia and Morocco, very different from the Asian team which has surprised football lovers by defeating two the favorite teams to win are Argentina and Germany, Argentina's loss to Saudi Arabia is still a hot topic of conversation today.

Currently Cameroon is playing against Switzerland, Cameroon is not favored in this match and I didn't even choose it on my money line bet, my prediction is that there will be no surprises that will happen maybe in the second and third rounds because that will determine who will qualify from the phase this group.
The first half ended with scores 0-0 will this be the fourth game that finish with a goalless ? hope not

The African team had good team spirit as compared to other developing countries. Argentina was the dream team of people all around the world. It’s defeat against the Saudi was backfire one for the people of Argentina and rest of the world. Argentina have to improve their game in the recent days, it was unexpected game from the top class team like Argentina. The upcoming game of the Argentina will be the acid test to them. They need win the test and prove their worth to the rest of the team. The upcoming match of Cameroon and Switzerland, most of the people supports to the Switzerland. And most of the bets will be made on Switzerland as compared to the Cameroon.

Ofcourse the team spirit is there and devotion but I hate the fact that we have been showing too much respects to our opponents and we cannot get results by doing so. I think its time we take the bull by the horn and give our all for the results. I expect African teams to play as Saudi Arabia against big teams and not to show them respect. Hopefully the send round of the group stage will be different and we will return stronger and better.

Just noticed the new poll in this thread. I selected the "none" option, because I don't think that any of the teams would be able to progress to the PQF stage. Senegal lost their opening match and are without their best player (Sadio Mane). Tunisia managed a draw against Danmark, but unfortunately they are placed in a very tough group alongside France and Australia. Same with Morocco, as they have to deal with Belgium and Croatia. Cameroon is in the same group as Brazil, Serbia and Switzerland. Ghana also need to defeat either Uruguay or South Korea.

Inaki will want to really really build on his uptake this year, and you never know Ayew, he turns up with a mad run down the flank like he does for Palace and he's gold.

I'm not a big fan of J. Ayew, but the entire Ghana hope is on A. Ayew and Partey. A. Ayew is a bit old now, and I wasn't expecting him to be selected to this world cup after his split with Ghana FA after they were eliminated from AFCON, but he is the only one capable of making dangerous attacks and shooting from the far post in that team. I never liked how J.Ayew was converted to a striker in the first place, and he hasn't done anything significant at Crystal Palace in my opinion.

He appears to have had a minor resurgence, watched last few Palace games and he has really looked dangerous and proactive.

Anyway, at least we had two goals now from Africa. And against Portugal no less. To be fair, I thought the game only opened after the crappy penalty (was correct but so soft). Almost got a hand to it too.

No worry. Only makes odds better for all teams left in remaining games. I will be keeping an eye on odds.
