For the 2026 FIFA World Cup, we will be having a minimum of 9 teams from the CAF (compared to 5 this time). There was a lot of criticism, when FIFA first announced this a few years ago. A lot of people were arguing that the quality will go down. Those who made the argument are silent now, after witnessing the exceptional performance from African teams this time. Not a single one among the 5 CAF participants disappointed their fans. All of them - Senegal, Tunisia, Morocco, Cameroon and Ghana had their moments this time in the world cup.

This is one of Africa's best performance in the World Cup. Critics of the policy to include nine African teams in the next tournament are in great shock. All the African teams that were knockout of the competition at the group stage were best losers. Everyone of them deserved to be at the round of 16 and they would have made it to at least the quarter finals. This is because they defeated many world class teams, imagine Cameroon defeating the best national team in the world Brazil. They became the first African team to beat the Seleção Canarinho. The beauty of the match was that the indomitable lions were outstanding in the match. Morocco also defeated the second best national team in the world Belgium.

Giving Africa more slots would even improve the quality of the world cup because African teams have really improved. These critics will still get more proofs why African teams deserves an increased slot when Morocco or Senegal gets to the Semi-finals  .

The performance of African countries in this world cup is great. 2 out of 5 qualified but all the 5 countries were remarkable even if some didn't qualify. Morocco top their group. Tunisia defeated the world  champions which is France, Cameroon won Brazil. It is a nice outing for African countries and it is nice for FIFA to increase their slot because some other good African countries didn't qualify like  Nigeria, Egypt, Ivory Coast, Mali and more of them.

Before this game started, I had high expectations that Ghana would be able to win this game, but they started to play badly, it was like they didn't want to move on to another phase, it didn't even seem like the same hunger as in past games, they even irritated me as they were playing playing, they conceded 2 goals and failed to score at least 2 goals, this is something simply terrible, they were eliminated when they had a great chance of getting through to another stage, the problem of African players not taking things seriously is very serious, and it is necessary that the people remove these corrupt governments from africa and put people who are smart and not corrupt to run the country well, only then soccer in africa will have high quality like in europe and we will also manage to win the world cup one day

I also had high expectations and hopes going into the game that Ghana will surprise the world and make history but it seems rather than staying focused on the task of the day they decided to reminisce on the past 2010 world cup game against Uruguay and got distracted from the objectives of the day and ended up being defeated and crashing out of the world cup. I wonder when African players will take things as this seriously, it's a shame though.

Cameroon odds were surprisingly not as bad as I would have imagined, probably as books knew Brazil would be playing a somewhat second string... but as soon as Shaqiri scored, news must have filtered through as I felt their shoulders dropped even lower... Another game have got my eyes one would be Morroco versus Spain honestly. It's a good bet for one to bank on Morroccan against Spanish sides. I have carefully watched them last game, they're good technically on the ball and off the ball, do you also think that would make sense ?
Maybe, going for a first half draw would be a peng Idea mmhh ?!

The next world cup would be held in the United States, Canada and Mexico. And FIFA is considering expanding the teams to 48 instead of the normal 32 teams. The group stage of competition would consist of sixteen groups with three countries in a group. Instead of the normal round of sixteen after the group stage, there would be a new knockout stage called the round of 32.

The main reason for this innovation is to give more countries the opportunity of participating in the world cup. Only Cameroon, Senegal and Ghana have gotten to the quarter finals of the world cup and no African team had reached the semi-finals. Hopefully Morocco or Senegal might break that jinx.

those damn fifa, they only put 9 teams from africa when they know that in africa the continent is very big, they are unfair with africa, most of the time there are good teams in africa but they have not been lucky to go to the world cup, doing with the same teams from africa in the world cup, at least this situation will change in 2026, it will not change as well as it should, but it will be a small change

fifa increased the number of teams on all continents, and of course africa was the least number increased as always, that's why i said fifa was always unfair to africa, it's not normal that a continent as big as africa has only 9 teams while other small continents have many teams, this is unfair, but the fault lies with the Africans who accept this

I told him in your same words that it is emotional, it wasn't intentional it's not easy to get a goal against Brazil and that goal would mean that they have won Brazil. At first, I really doubted that Morocco would be able to finish all the matches they would face well but in fact, they did that, it's not easy to beat other teams to get into the round of 16 (even they beat Belgium and Canada with more than 1 goals).
There are only two representatives from the African continent in the round of 16. I wonder if Senegal or Morocco will be able to enter the quarter-finals and even the semifinals later! Let's wait and see.

No one should blame Abubakar for taking off his cloth after his goal against Brazil, he didn't just score a goal but he also scored the only goal in the match and the winning goal for his country Cameroon. The prolific striker was not just excited about scoring the goal but he was full of happiness for breaking the long history for all Africans as the only player to score a goal to defeat Brazil I think he was aware of the offense but since the goal and win couldn't take them to the knockout stage, the celebration was the only thing that matters to him and no one should blame him for doing what he did. Africans are proud of him even the referee that gave the card it shows in his smile when the striker shook his hands before leaving the pitch.

Interestingly Morocco will play the round 16 with their European neighbor Spain in a match I give equal chances to both country basically both country have similar style of play, if the Moroccans can go all the way to top their group which include a star-studded Belgium and Croatia then I knew they have a lot to offer in the competition and not mere pushover, honestly more upset is bound to be unleashed in many matches ahead just like the way Camerounian defeated Brazil in yestarday match, I must commend the African countries that participated in this World Cup for putting up a brilliant performance and representing the continent well.

I saw the video, he was using Maguire as a case study to what is going on in the country, I was shocked the majority of the Reps had no idea who Maguire was from the reaction on their faces when he started the story but burst into heavy laughter when he finally told how unfortunate they guy is. The African team has performed better than I expected; they have made significant contributions thus far, and based on current trends, we may have an African semi-finalist.


Argentina never disappoints, Messi has been the best player in the tournament so far, it's been a huge year for him, he could have gotten two assists tonight but Martinez is just so shit, I'm not surprised he trains with Lukaku at Inter Milan, bird of the same feathers.

BTW Senegal Poland @ 7.80 and 10.50 respectively is a huge one.... might dip into one tomorrow.

I can’t blame him, he scored an incredible goal although the media isn’t talking about it. Also for Cameroon to have a victory over Brazil is outstanding and even though they couldn't secure qualification spot but it was a good way to sign off from the world cup. I'm so excited that some African teams are able to qualify past the group stage. Senegalese going against England will be a tough opponent for Senegal.

African teams played good in this World Cup but unfortunately they made a mistake in a game that costed them a lot. Tunisia underestimated Australia. Cameroon should regret Serbia game mainly.
After all from 5 teams, there is two that will face quite hard teams. Morocco - Spain and Senegal - England, the winners will avoid Brazil and Argentina but will have to face France at some point.

I won't say they underestimated any team. I mean, who is there to underestimate? The African football is the one being looked at with a common eye often. Why? Because the European style of play and management have come to stand out than anything African. Hence, having no European football experience seems like a fault by default as per origin.
And again, I would say they aren't misfortuned but just playing the game. At least, we've seen the likes of Brazil, Spain, Argentina, Germany all loosing games in the tournament. African teams are doing there bit and we sure do need to better our playing style in such a way that, it doesn't have to look towards the European style of play for approval but be unique and top notch.

Otto Addo, the coach for the Ghanaians Senior team has resigned from football after the loss from the world cup tournament in Qatar 2022. The coach said earlier before the tournament kick starts that, if they (the Ghanaians team) qualifys or wins the cup he will still resigned and travel to Germany and finally thing didn't come out how it was planned.
