Estimated delivery; Wednesday, September 03, 2014

Mine says the same which is unusual, last ones I sent arrived the next day, and looking at the tracking its arrived at the local depot at 5.30am so not sure why it won't be delivered today and a public holiday on monday Sad

edgar,

Just got off the phone with FedEx and it's just an error with the online tracking, parcel will be delivered today, maybe yours is the same ?

thx tigggger,

but dhl are the worst in this region. any excuse to increase fees & they're on it

ive been sent an official 'bill' for 290USD to be agreed upon before 'release'

with 'additional fees' to be presented upon delivery including 'overtime' fees

it is a genuine extortion racket - take it or leave it, essentially

im going to go to the depot tomorrow morning and try to buy it out. (even though they insist i dont & wait until monday - probably)

Good Luck with yours today!!

Pics if it turns up!!!

Yes. Your hosting will start on Sunday.
Later, on September, we'll manufacture another machine and send it to Titan without down time to you.

I've got a little problem.  On two machines a power supply LED at the rear near the plug started blinking Orange.  The hashing went to zero.  From the UI, I tried reboot.  Other stuff.  Nothing worked.  Then I did a power cycle.  The machine instantly came back up.

The orange blinking LEDs will be common at first. It indicates a PSU failure of some sort or another. The SP30 is designed to push the PSUs to the point of thermal failure, then remember where that was, and push it slightly less hard next time.

With the Emerson PSUs (everything that's been shipped so far, AFAIK), the PSUs will usually automatically recover after about 20 seconds. Occasionally they don't. I've seen one fail to automatically recover once. In that case, a hard power cycle (unplugging the affected PSU, waiting 30 seconds for it to cool down, then plugging it back in) fixed it. That PSU has had no problems since.

I'm expecting for the "official" bill from them too. What I expect is close to 800USD here, and this was one of the reasons I was happy with the compensation offered. DHL called me yesterday to tell me that "I need a broker" to import the stuff. Of course they have brokerage fees, and it is them who determine the equipment classification based on the goods value, origin, type. Based on that, you get to pay the customs fees. Then, they also collect any gvt taxes you owe for importing the goods.

Practically you can't pick up or they don't deliver your package if they don't release it from customs (i.e. you paid your duty). They're not the quickest here, nor the slowest. Hopefully they'll send my bill in time, or I'll be waiting for the package pick-up for days (labor day weekend .. yeah baby).

Mine going to Toomin Bros, delivery confirmed by FedEx for Thursday 28th August ... thanks to everyone at Spondoolies, it might be the last week in August, but you have kept to your schedule, appreciated.

We at http://Toom.im have been extremely busy for the last week and change, so I apologize for not being more communicative and for getting behind on responding to emails.

By the way, it's Toomim, not Toomin. It's important to spell it correctly, or else you go to a jewelry website in India. We have a tricky name. So sorry.

DevonMiner's machines arrived the day before yesterday and are hashing at 4455 and 4558 GH/s.

We had 6 other SP30s from the group buy arrive today.

Our 37 units from the group buy have also shipped, as of yesterday. We expect them early next week, along with a few other GB SP30s.

We had an issue with an SP10 power supply failing yesterday morning. Failing power supplies is to be expected on occasion, so no surprise. We didn't have any replacement power supplies from Spondoolies in stock yet, but we did have a few DS1050-3 and DS1200-3 PSUs from Emerson (that's the model number used in the SP10 and SP30, respectively) that I bought on Ebay. Oddly, those ebay power supplies didn't work in the SP10. It appears that the 5V connection isn't being made (no CPU, serial communication, LEDs on ethernet), but the 12V connection is working (fans run). However, the power supplies do work in my SP30 just fine, probably since the SP30 shares the 5V connection between the two PSUs, and one PSU's 5V rail is plenty. My SP30's PSU works fine in the SP10, so what I did was I moved my SP30s PSU to the troubled SP10, and put one of the ebay DS1200-3 PSUs in my SP30. We should have some real Spondoolies-approved spare PSUs next week to make this kind of thing unnecessary.

WARNING: There are some serious issues with the I2C interface in most Emerson PSUs. I happened to get a couple off of ebay that did not have these issues. There is a way to get them to work, but it is in no way sanctioned by Spondoolies Tech, and Zvi will probably become moderately irate with me for mentioning publicly that it exists. As a bare minimum, make sure to limit your PSUs to something absurdly low (like 1000W) before attempting any PSU shenanigans. You should also probably just not try it at all unless you need some more bricks.

In other news, we also received our first X-3 today. The customer paid over $5k for this one in November, expecting a February 24th shipment date. One of the hashing units is only running at about 700 GH/s instead of 1.1 TH/s, probably due to a heatsink dislodged during shipping--I'll try to fix this tonight. Each hashing unit has a touchscreen LCD on the front running Android. You can literally browse the web with your mining rig. It's mildly amusing. Each hashing unit hashes at 1/4 the rate of an SP30 in 50% more space while consuming about 25% more power per GH/s. But hey, at least they shipped.

OK - that seems cool.  I have been able to run them for a long time now (about 12 hours) with no further problems.  But auto reset didn't happen.  I had to power cycle it manually.

However, in 30 days it will be much cooler around here.  Can I do a new learn cycle then?  I'd hate to spend the winter with the PSUs optimized for Summer.  We've got a delta of about +30C here

It was yesterday actually, and I'm happy and have seen some good hashing results given that these machines need 24hrs to settle down.

jtoomim and the team responded very quickly, even popped down to their local Fedex to collect my miners after a failed delivery - can't ask for more than that, I really appreciated the service!

WARNING: There are some serious issues with the I2C interface in most Emerson PSUs.
In my experience those problems are intentionally caused by the firmware, which reads "OEM ID" field through the I2C bus. While I don't recall the details anymore, those are somewhat easily fixable by reflashing the PSU "OEM ID" or changing the firmware. The details probably still can be found on Internet when searching for the information about Sun Microsystems server hardware and how to break out of the Oracle (and others) service contracts on hardware while maintaining software service contracts.

In this case it may be easier to pressure Spondoolies into releasing the unlocked firmware.

So as the weekend is here, I guess it's safe to say that my GB unit will not ship in august after all, as repeatedly reassured. Not that a few extra days really matter, but it is a bit disappointing. ST's word have lost a bit of credibility as far as I'm concerned.

Don't feel too bad :

Dealt with this crap on my SP30 order the item shipped from Israel to the US in one freaking day and has been help up in customs for two days.  I had to email what is called a customs form 50 with my taxID/SSN and address.  Basically information they already had.  Then the FDA decided to also hold it another 12 more hours and the finally released it at 3.30 am today.

Guess what lass a$$ FedEx now tells me it missed the morning sort even after they had already got the clearance at the 3.30am release.  So now I am looking at a Tuesday deliver for an item that was shipped with $300 two day intnl shipping.

So no hashing for me over the weekend before DIF goes up to 27k that's almost $240 in lost fiat earnings basically .5BTC I could have earned.  I asked them to request Saturday deliver and still have heard nothing yet WTF.  FEDEX sux!!!

Either I will contact billing over the weekend and bitch and moan for a refund or something on the shipping and then try and get it credited to me by the hardware vendor.

long short calling FedEx is a waste of time they do stuff at their own pace.  I already knew they needed this info on Wednesday and phoned in the info , requested the form etc. but they still did not submit anything until the person that processes international orders in Memphis TN (stupid lazy southerners) called me at 8am Thursday to tell me what I already know : my item was being held by customs.  and that the needed the import form.

I emailed it to her within 45 mins and she claims she submitted it but the item was not released by customs till 3.30 am.

Its a clusterfuck bro, if not for the rising DIFF I could handle it in a relatively sane fashion but like the rest of us I'm in a race against time to ROI.

I was close to pulling the trigger back in December on these BA units I had an order for 20 X1's but cancelled it due to not being able to get the funds in time to meet batch 1 lol ! how lucky am I.

I did go ahead and buy near 10k worth of GPUs for scypt though to increase my farm.  : at least I was able to recoup those via eBay after they stopped making me $$

but dhl are the worst in this region. any excuse to increase fees & they're on it
ive been sent an official 'bill' for 290USD to be agreed upon before 'release'
with 'additional fees' to be presented upon delivery including 'overtime' fees
it is a genuine extortion racket - take it or leave it, essentially
im going to go to the depot tomorrow morning and try to buy it out. (even though they insist i dont & wait until monday - probably)
Good Luck with yours today!!
Pics if it turns up!!!

Hopefully they'll send my bill in time, or I'll be waiting for the package pick-up for days (labor day weekend .. yeah baby).

I'm glad mine came via FedEx...what a PIA dealing with DHL...

So as the weekend is here, I guess it's safe to say that my GB unit will not ship in august after all, as repeatedly reassured. Not that a few extra days really matter, but it is a bit disappointing. ST's word have lost a bit of credibility as far as I'm concerned.

I already knew they needed this info on Wednesday and phoned in the info , requested the form etc. but they still did not submit anything until the person that processes international orders in Memphis TN (stupid lazy southerners) called me at 8am Thursday to tell me what I already know

BTW, after you submit a form you better call fedex international and "submit" your tax id there for a good measure
mine is still stuck, though
I think that they have whatever procedures they have, so calling ahead of time OR bugging them afterwards is NOT advisable.
If only CT would not be selling less desirable miners, I could have ordered from 100 miles away instead.

You can increase the PSU power manually in the settings page to something larger then actual number (I never seen one capable for more then 1380), and it will learn again.

We should have some real Spondoolies-approved spare PSUs next week to make this kind of thing unnecessary.

WARNING: There are some serious issues with the I2C interface in most Emerson PSUs.
