To be fair only the SP20 was iffy as it was rated right at the top of what it could physically do while in a cooler ambient. And while the SP30 was regrettable, it was refunded sufficiently such that I don't think anyone was too unhappy.
There was also at least one particularly awful batch of SP35's that I was hosting for a customer that was under-performing often by 500GH per unit due to bad chips.

Yeah realm this,is a game changer, I just upgraded my basement to 200amp service and also getting another 150 amps in my garage I could handle two of these units, please someone start a group buy for this now! .even with my bad electrity costs that's only $50 per day for that massive hashrate Please Guy hook us up! are you guys millionaires? dropping at least 50-52K at the moments notice. I'm not a millionaire but I was getting ready to buy 24 S7's. My next move will be carefully thought out. I've never dealt with spondoolies-tech before. Now they are definitely worth a look. Hate to break it to you, but Spondoolies doesn't want to deal with you or I unfortunately. In all likelihood, they don't want orders under 1 PH/s or so. They'll probably sell just enough to outsiders to recoup their R&D + manufacturing costs upfront and then provide units to BTCS exclusively. Hope I'm wrong! So now we're down to just BITMAIN that's selling to the rest of us. Sfards isn't shipping anything in any quantities or at any pricepoints that matter. I for one, do not welcome our new mining hardware overlords and would like to see more competition. SPTech, please tell me you have something planned that will be available to the home miner? Yes, our only option is a Chinese manufacturer called bitmain. Hopefully they don't end up letting us down too, but I know they will. The people's currency is now in the hands of a few corporations. Gone are the days where anyone and everyone could participate by driving to their local PC shop to pick up a CPU or later a GPU. This is where greed has taken us.

man this thing is insane.. hard to imagine them coming out with a version for the home miner.. as zvisha said a few pages ago.. consumer mining is a dead horse, this sp50 and whatever else comes next in this large scale is the future.
I hope at least bitmain stays with the home centric gear

well, that's what IBM thought in the 80ies, but PC beat the crap out of them in volume and industry size. datacenters are slow to change their hardware, home users are quick, so agile manufacturer(s) should be able to induce faster turnaround (in theory)

Something interesting if you read it "Reliable and cost effective 28 nanometer (nm) process versus 16 nm processes". It seems the ones who stuck with 28 nm are going to be the winners at least short term. They mastered a old NM instead of going smaller nm. Both bitmain and SP did this which I find interesting. Please give use a SP50 mini . I really would love to have one with so much power. If i could get one that 1 240 30 amp breaker could power that would be great.

The name sort of hints to a 11TH SP40 it does not looking good for SP40 at least for now as they did not like their SP20 experience (low profitability), unless SP40 would be organized like SP10 or SP30-now, this WOULD be sweet at 1/5-1/10 of SP50 (one or two boards) for 10-20 TH.

Depending on price I would love a miner like that. I personally like that they put a lot of power in it. The SP50 unfortunately I would have to do a good amount of rewiring to make it possible. I am happy to see them skip sp40 makes me hope us hobby miners will be customers of SP again.

We could see a price tag of $47,850 to $50,000 on the SP50 quite easily. I would think the more bought in bulk, the cheaper they would be. Bulk pricing MIGHT start at 3 units. We'll see...

If they're anything like their previous chips, I doubt sidehack will touch them. The format is difficult to work with, much moreso than the BITMAIN ones.

did you inquire or guessed? if so, buyers would waste a lot of money...fast. with 8.5c (Great north data), and minimal difficulty rise, you will be in the red for a tune of 7.5K+owe canada $2.5K for import=minus $10K after a year of operation at current low difficulty rise (yeah, right, it will stay low-NOT) at 2.5C electricity and current pace of difficulty, you will be breakeven in 1 year; at 2.5c electricity and 5% difficulty rise on average (from current 3%)-and you will be in the red for $13K in one year (considering 2.5K owed to canada)

We've been holding our tongues for a while now...
And finally, we are extremely happy to unveil the SP50!
What a nice surprise I have 3 pages to catch on! Oh yeah!

With purchase of 30 units, one might get $35,000 per unit.

It's all kinda speculation no one knows. And I'm guessing it varies on number you purchase. So it could be hard to get a number. Anways I forgot to say it earlier congratz SP on new miner. It is one heck of a unit.

Something tells me the minimum purchase will probably be close to $120,000 (3 units). The initial cost in the beginning for the case, fans and PSU's make the up front cost significant but upgrades in the future will make costs cheaper.

This thing looks fantastic. Price wise, I'm guessing they will aim around 27-35k.
Would love to see an sp40 that is 10-20TH, or alternatively an sp50 that comes with only 2-4 blades and can be easily expanded as price/difficulty move

I just realized that I did not take into account the fact that we will have a halving in July 2016, so these numbers are even worse. Despite being a tech achievement by itself, it has to be priced right to sell many.
