My opinion:
We missed some of the great action! BTCS *appears* to have paid nearly $200,000 to a company to court potential investors on their behalf... while generating just $500k revenue... and losing ~$25m in two years....

Advert for BTCS: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aIzm25IHRrw
Staged 'interview' with CEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ppOpZbDoDNw

Highlights (these are rough quotes + my opinion):
  • Sitting down with jacket buttoned *sigh*
  • 3,389% growth last year!!!!!
  • Spondoolies acquisition is game changer
  • Spondoolies is a leader in the mining section (despite not having anything to sell for a year)
  • Spondoolies was there from the onset (eh?)
  • Spondoolies did $28M revenue in 2014, raised $10M
  • Definitive agreement took a while due to "negotiation"
  • "Excited about the possibility of getting it done". Weird language.
  • In reply to "How do you make money"? Costs $130-$140 to mine a bitcoin.
  • They look to maximise their profit. Okay.
  • Mining is the "cash cow" of the industry.
  • Capacity is paid for, "just need to install the miners".
  • On the purchase of Spondoolies, they plan to "design and build next generation servers to deploy in [their] facility". SP50s are just renderings.
  • BTCS has only raised $6M? That doesn't seem right.
  • BTCS will be "Fully funded" in 3-6 months.
  • If they had raised $5M in the near year they'd have done $44M in revenue.
  • "Biggest hurdle was getting through the SEC and the registration statement, they asked a lot of questions"
  • Registered offering coming up.
  • They want 15% of the network. At 1300PH today and 110TH per SP50, they'd have to magic up 2100 SP50s INSTANTLY to make that happen. Even at a $15k build price thats $31M of capital required. Someones fibbing.
  • The CEO, Charles Allen is
    • an engineer (batchelors from Lehigh University)
    • MBA (from "Raymond A. Mason School of Business", ranked 74th in the US)
    • 8 years as various IB, regulatory specialist.

Each block is stacked on top of the previous one. Adding another block to the top makes all lower blocks more difficult to remove: there is more "weight" above each block. A transaction in a block 6 blocks deep (6 confirmations) will be very difficult to remove.

Which makes a complete mockery of the previous video from 6 Months ago when Charles was showing off the racks into which they were going to put the "New Spondoolies next gen SP50 as soon as they are off the assembly line"

But they've done the hard part by leasing an old factory, now all the need to do is install the servers! /s

... Not forgetting waiting for Spondoolies to actually produce the mystical SP50.

I am still annoyed as I have 300a @ 240v (3x 100a feeds) of ultra cheep power that I just want to stack out with Spondoolies kit.

However I gave up holding my breath for Spondoolies servers a while back. On that note how long has it actually been since SP-Tech actually released anything? not including the SP50 obviously Huh

In the mean time I am just sat buying batches of 12 S7's, which I don't particularly like compared to the SP3x series. but what else can I buy in all honesty?

Aha, thats convenient.

So potentially they haven't openly sold a server for a year now. Not good for a company thats only 3 years old!

oh well

You should not build out an area for a miner that is not out, that goes for any company not just SP.  But even when SP50 was talked about more they seemed like data center sales a customer with hobby level amount of electricity... was not on radar it did not seem.

I do miss this forum being about hardware though.  So I give you points for a hardware post in here.  But as far as what you can buy easily right now it's A6's and S7's.  Net gen...  is a good question.  But as far as easy to get it's all this gen.  If it makes sense will all depend on your electricity price.

I just wish this thread would go back to hardware. This was one of the threads I once enjoyed checking daily.  Reading about miners for at quite a while.

Is there any plans on making any miner info public?  Or has it been decided for foreseeable future no miner talk?

Agree. More the Psychic Network 'infomercial' imho.

They say things we want to hear but in that is it all in the 'ASIC Spirit World" alas never comes to pass Sad We 'hope' to make sp50's (see wall outlets/racks) but the asic spirits are 'restless' so we may fudge on this Sad

agree on a side note sp10's on ebay (cheapest one) 189 bucks at my 10c kwh I'd only lose 49 bucks a month in electric from what I figured....heh...

cute toys...but not that cute to fire up and to play with..thou next winter IF I needed a space heater (naw got the 2013 KNC 550 gh Jupiter for that yet) maybe (er nevermind)

maybe in another year when they go for 50 bucks I'll get one and use it for ASIC wall art in the basement. (damn I need a life)

Old Style Legacy Plug & Play BBS System. Get it from www.synchro.net. Updated 1/1/2021. It also works with Windows 10 and likely 11 and allows 16 bit DOS game doors on the same Win 10 Machine in Multi-Node! Five Minute Install! Look it over it uninstalls just as fast, if you simply want to look it over. Freeware! Full BBS System! It is a frigging hoot!:)

in the thread you will see spondoolies is OUT of making miners for others...supposedly making them for their data halls only...thou not a lot a proof of
that yet........so you are in for a long wait (like never) for a home miner imho

anyway review past posts on this thread....they have packed up an left...again imho...others have summed this all up better in previous posts on this thread

1) design a minrer

2) make a miner

3) sell a miner (to individuals)

4) design a new miner

5) make a new miner

6) get big bucks newbie IPO $$$ for data halls

7) keep the miner (yourself)

rinse/wash/repeat till folk catch on Smiley
