How the heck did we miss this? I guess I'll have $3,000 to send out tonight. I just hope bitcoins don't crash in value too much. I guess this is another example of why we need to organize this on a website. I'm thinking a spreadsheet type thing, with the columns containing:
1 - Name of company
2 - URL to company site/contact info
3 - whether it was reviewed (accepted/denied)
4 - whether it was contacted and the result (contacted, they accepted and were paid, they rejected)

There isn't an official list yet but it's definitely a high priority.

I was also thinking that it might be a good idea to list organizations that didn't quite qualify for whatever reason. For example, I learned today that both the EFF and the FEE accept bitcoin donations. I think these are both great organizations and will probably donate to them from my personal funds, but I don't think they really fit the criteria for receiving the official Bitcoin 100 donation.

When I talk to them I'll definitely pose that as an option for them to consider. But from reading their blog it seems their pretty desperate for funds at the moment.

Hello Ed,



It's nice to speak with you again. BIPS converts Bitcoins to any local currency at
the equivalent USD rate posted on our website. When logged into an account
configured with the local currency, in this case Thai Baht, BIPS displays the
current buy/sell rate on the website in that currency. The minimum transfer is set
by the user with free transfers in Denmark and Canada. For Thailand our bank charges
an equivalent $7.5 USD fee for each transfer which recipients are responsible for as
well as any fees along the way (AKA Inter-bank fees). For this reason we allow
merchants and users to set their own minimum transfer levels to accommodate their
own preferences. We charge no additional banking fees at this time and have no plans
to do so. I believe we can find someone capable of assisting in setting up this
installation for no additional cost. Our goal is to make it as easy as possible for
merchants to accept Bitcoins and as long as there aren't design elements outside of
installing the Bitcoin payment plugin required there will be no additional cost. If
I have missed something or there is anything else you would like to know please
don't hesitate to ask.

At the moment, however, we need your help convincing charities to publicly accept bitcoins more than we need the bitcoins themselves.

While re-reading this thread (several times!) I realized we'd done it before:

Today I wrote them a general inquiry about how the non-fees work and only briefly mentioned bitcoin as the only service to my knowledge that would allow to operate without fees. His very quick reply did not mention bitcoin but asked for ways to further reduce fees. I sent another mail with more bitcoin introduction and also sent him a bitcoin via a charged instawallet address asking to either send it back to me or on to a wallet out of my reach.
