So, United decided to spend big on Martinez. I did like what I saw from the technical side - but to be honest, he's really short for such a physical league.

Maybe. Nunez is in worse situation than Caroll because he is not an England player and the coming season will be his first season in Premier League. Caroll played well in Premier League at Newcastle before his transfer to Liverpool. Nunez is facing with more challenges than Caroll. Worse, the bad pre-season friendly matches can be very harmful for the adaptation of Nunez in Liverpool. It also affects the confidence and mentality of Caroll.

We never know. Many good players failed after a big transfer. You are right about pressure from a huge transfer cost. Furthermore, adaptation to a new league is very challenging. I am not sure Nunez can play well in Premier League even he does not move there after a very big transfer.

A first half of season will be important. If Nunez can play at acceptable level, he can have a good adventure in Liverpool but if he has very bad first half season, he might face with a serious failure in Liverpool. The reason why Nunez got bullied like Carroll is they're both have played very well as a striker on their previous club and after join in Liverpool with huge transfer fee, they can't play very well like their previous performance. Liverpool buy Carroll for 35 Million Euro and didn't even win a trophy, then they sell it to West Ham for 15 Million Euro, Liverpool suffer 20 Million Euro losses at that time.

When his time is ending, he is losing his patience. Ronaldo is looking at Ibrahimovic and knows that at 39 or 40 years old, his career can fall down a lot. He feels he only have 2 or 3 more seasons to play in Champions League and score goals there. After 39 or 40 years old, he will have worse body, worse performance and maybe will play at worse club so he will score less goals in Champions League.

Moving to Premier League is risky for a player who is not good at physical strength like De Jong. The player can have another reason, want to reunite with De Ligt in Bayern. I think Liverpool coach, Klopp is satisfied with his current squad. He already has a good squad from last season and a few more he has added to the squad, he also has enough players in his subtitute list for next season. Having Ben Davies on the team will be surplus to the number of players and he will not even get playing time next season so it will be in the best interest of the player to move on to another club where his services will be needded more. Rangers is a very good club and joining them will be good for his development also.
