I contacted support about the used Gridseeds I received from GAW and they seem completely caught by surprise about this.  3 out of the last 4 Gridseeds I received are used.

Support (request # 10134 with photos) told me that they buy all of their Gridseeds directly from Gridseed and they don't sell used Gridseeds.  Somehow used Gridseeds got introduced in the supply chain because there is no doubt that these are used.  One was so dirty that I got dirt on my hands from just handling it.

Will you give a $10 store credit per used Gridseed to the customers that got used equipment instead of the expected new equipment?

Also, will you be selling used equipment going forward as hosting customers upgrade to new equipment?

Seems same with other suppliers

definitely used

my 10 pack had dust under the fan fins exactly like my own miners running for 1-2 months

one miner had the heatsink loose and heatsink screws rattling around in the box

The one Gridseed that I ordered was definitely used. Dust all over the fan and heatsink. It runs well enough, and I had read somewhere about other sites getting used Gridseeds from their supplier.

Used, or not, GAW offers the same warranty. They also greatly reduced the price to just $60. Seems like a fair deal to me.

That photo is shocking  Shocked  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=508904.msg6597772#msg6597772

Yes, I can see rust on mine, missing screws and odd mismatched replacement screws.   These were run in a very corrosive environment.
This isn't just about dusty pods volder it's about trust.  Do you trust the company to not sell used equipment as new and if a mistake happened will they make it right with even a small gesture of goodwill.

Yes, trust if very important. I trust that Josh will address this issue and take care of every customer involved. He has a proven track record of doing so. Mistake or not, he will take care of you. I know he will. He did mention that he was away for a few days, so just give him a little time.

some of you complain a lot, for the price paid $59, I have no complaints.

The rust and dusts are only cosmetic. If they work what is the problem?

If you have any broken untis, I'll be happy to take them off your hands and repair them myself, it isn't rocket science.

why are we discussing the gridseeds? on to the furys,  black widow and the big guns.  Grin
that's not the point. if they are used, sell them as used. that's it. Otherwise everyone will start selling used stuff as new...

selling used stuff as new is illegal in most jusirdictions that have some sort of consumer protection laws

no one is going to sue gaw for sixty bucks but i'm just answering your question "what is the problem" with it

I expect there will be more used miners for sale because of buy-backs and upgrades etc.   They have to list the used stuff as used.  You can't pass used stuff as new else you'll get into trouble.

I'd like to know the origin of these used gridseeds though.  If they came out of GAW's own hosting center then I don't want any used equipment that comes from such a corrosive and dirty environment.  I wouldn't want any equipment to be hosted in such an environment either.

This is a very good point. I would like to know if these came from the GAW's hosting center.

In my last order of 3 5-chip Gridseeds I had 2 rusty ones as well, they all worked but obviously they are not 'like new', however I contacted GAW and they compensated me fairly for it without any argument.

It seems given the reports of the same problem with MinerEU and others that they've come from Gridseed directly like this and GAW/MinerEU have missed it during inspection before shipping them to customers (imagine if you order 1000, you check maybe 10%, so if half of them are rusty it wouldn't be too hard to miss). If anyone has been mining with these in advance it's Gridseed not GAW, I don't think this is any reason to worry about GAW's hosting facilities.

Mine looked exactly like this one someone received from MinerEU: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=508904.msg6597772#msg6597772 Not pretty! Shocked

A couple of weeks ago I ordered 5 Gridseeds for the old price of $85 (for founders), and they were used as well.
Dust on the fans, some with rust on the fan-mount, one physically damaged, and another with a rattly fan.
Some screws were loose but not missing.

I complained about this because I was not very happy with the fact that I got used miners when I was expecting brand new ones.
GAW reacted very surprised and told me they never sell used stuff, but nevertheless they were more then willing to rectify it.
Finally they gave me more compensation than I expected, so I'm still a very happy GAW customer.
But I have to agree that they should list used stuff as being used.

Having received bulk packages unopened that came directly from the "gridseed factory" i can say that this isn't unique to a certain reseller or gaw's hosting facility. Mine were pretty decent overall and every one of them had dust on the fans. 4-5 out of the batches were rusted and 80% were unannodized. So the Chinese manufacturer was using these Asics before shipping them to even the resellers.

And this is how china rules the world, and why I prefer not to buy chinese products in real life as well.

The one seed i bought, the fan also had dust on it, coating on the underside, I attributed it to a 'break-in' testing period, not so much being used, but who knows. If it were due to 'break-in', I'd want the equipment be tested in a dust-free environment but you all know the air quality in china.....

BTW, Idc if I get compensated for it, it was only one seed and it works fine.
