Eredivisie 23/24 - discussion thread

The last time PSV qualified for the Champions League group stage was the 2018/19 season. Since then they haven't been able to reach beyong playoffs. They were a more successful team in the past when it comes to the Champions League. But now maybe they can go for the group stage finally.

Because last season was pretty solid for PSV as they fought with Feyenoord for the Eredivisie championship. If they can keep the same ambition level this season too then this can be a big help to make it.

By the way most probably their next opponent would be Rangers or Braga if they eliminate Sturm Graz. Next round will be a real challenge for them.

I am already curious about the first leg tonight, Sturm Graz (as already mentioned) are already in good form in the Austrian League, PSV should not take the game too lightly then.

PSV beat sturm in the first leg game and it was a rather funny victory, to be honest, PSV had 71% possession of the ball, while their opponent sturm had 29% possession, PSV had 21 shots and 11 shots were on target while sturm had only 9 shots and 2 shots on target, PSV scored 4 goals while sturm scored only 1 goal. this shows that there is a great superiority of PSV in relation to sturm. honestly I see PSV also winning the second leg. but as you said psv's biggest obstacle will be in the next stages, if they play against braga their chances of winning will be good

Man, i know you are trying to keep clean the thread but our message wasnt off topic, Eredivisie doesnt start yet and we are talking about one team form the league, and this its important to see if them are gonna put the same start line up for first game on league depending on the result of UCL.

It is legitimate that one should not drift too much into off-topic, but it is not primarily about the Champions League but about the participants of the Eredivisie in international competitions and about the UEFA 5-year ranking of the Eredivisie participants. Anyway, this is my approach.

PSV had good start, AZ as well, but this is just a beginning and it is expected from them to be good

I think i said it before, but again after seeing and confirm what i thinked, PSV this year/season its the team to beat i think, with the names they have plus the management of Peter Bozs they can make a lot this year, we see a little example of what they can do on SUpercup and in the game for european competition against Sturm Graz, they killed it, and it wasnt an easy one.

TOP 4 is not achievable for the Eredivisie in my opinion, but it is exciting to see how the Eredvisie has improved especially against Portugal and France, before only Ajax and PSV scored the big points for the Eredivisie and now several teams score as you can clearly see the last 2 years. PSV was simply stronger than Sturm over the two games.

Just because one team could end up being at a high place never means anything, but if you end up with some teams doing very well then you are going to get higher place. Look at France, they have PSG doing great, better than any eredevise team probably, but at the end of the day they are the only one and fail to get wins.

On the other hand, teams at Eredevise may not be at UCL, but they are at europa or conference league and they are doing great, that's the most important part and should be considered the benefit without a doubt. Didn't  watched any of Eredivisie games today, so, a bit difficult to comment. But Ajax dropping points in 2nd round already is big surprise. After all, Excelsior isn't that team which should cause lot of problems for team like Ajax. But Ajax now is one of youngest teams in league, I think they need some time until they will start showing stable results.

Well Ajax have failed to claim another 3points giving PSV the lead against them in the table they’ve had a win and a draw so far making them to be 2nd place in the table and i think it's too early to write them off yet because the league just started and they have enough time to close the gap, all they need is a good win in their next match amd the ones after, their performance today was quite impressive, they had 15 shots and 8 were on target which means they missed lots of chaces in getting more goals and would had won if they converted one more chance into a goal, and also 69% ball possession im the match means they dominated more but where so unlucky to concede 2 goals.
 PSV on the other hand have had fine wins in their previous 2 games, 2 - 0 at home against Utrecht and a 1- 3 away today, what made me happy was that i predicted them to win today and they did and even performed more than i expected, they'll definitely be top contender of the Eredivisie league and would be a serious competition for Ajax this season.

of course it is too early to write Ajax off for title chase, league just started, and draws as this one can happen to everyone
what does not look good is that Ajax is conceiving goals easily
even two converted chances into goal would be enough, if they didn't conceived, but they did

it does look as we are looking into really interesting season for Ajax, can't wait to see them in Europe too
