I really can't believe what happened in Spain vs Morocco match. Spain did a lot of attacking and possession, but none of them became goals.
even in the shootout, what happened to the Spanish kicker? this is really beyond my prediction. I think Spain will face Portugal in the quarter-finals.

Spain's being eliminated like this was a very unexpected one for me. I have always known Spain by playing a boring game which is focused on ball possession completely. This was working out very well against smaller teams anyway of course. Hence I wasn't expecting them to have any problem against Morocco. But Morocco were just incredible there. It was like they solved their game plan completely and countered it in a great way. Because even though Spain had an insane percentage of ball possession they were still not having a comfortable time about having so many goal attempts.

I was still hopeful about penalty shootouts as Spain had more skilled players to take the penalties. But they had another shock there. They scored 0 out of 3 penalties and said goodbye to the World Cup by 3-0. I really don't understand how they can take these penalties too badly.

I don't mean to doubt Ronaldo but it seems that Fernando Santos has considered Ronaldo's current stamina and ability, he doesn't always put Ronaldo to play the full game until the end of the match and in my opinion, it is a wise decision rather than forcing to play. but maybe what you said is right, Fernando Santos may be preparing Ronaldo for the match he reckons he needs Ronaldo as the pivot of the game in Portugal.

I am also saying the same thing If we look at the match stats there is not much difference between two teams I would rather you see Switzerland ahead of Portugal in match position. Switzerland's bad luck is they don't have good attackers. Ronaldo being brought onto the pitch would most likely have on his mind to score a goal. Without Ronaldo, Portugal played quite well in this match where Portugal was already leading 5-1. Somehow Switzerland is really having a hard time putting up a good fight in this match. I think the coach has another strategy in this match by giving a big surprise because Ronaldo had to come on as a substitute in this match. even so I was very happy to see the strains of a very beautiful game from Portugal because it managed to score a lot of goals. The game became frustrating to watch, Portugal's early goals made the game boring and killed the competition in the game from the start. The highlight will be how the young player who was started ahead of Ronaldo was able to score a Hat trick. In my opinion it was the best decision from the coach not to start him in play, if they had, i doubt that he would have scored those goals. If Portugal wants to go far in this competition, they should start younger players and bring Ronaldo in as a substitute.
