UEFA Champions League 2022/23 Season

The start of the round of 16 which in my opinion is a bit strange, because no English representative has won in the first leg of the last 16 of the Champions League this season:

Borussia Dortmund vs Chelsea 1-0
AC Milan vs Tottenham 1-0
Liverpool vs Real Madrid 2-5.
RB Leipzig vs Manchester City 1-1

Looks like Premier League clubs are facing with risk of disappearance after the Round of 16 in Champions League. It's not the end for them but risk is here and at least Liverpool almost already said goodbye. Chelsea, Tottenham and Manchester City will play at homes so they can go next if they can take advantage of home stadiums.

Man City seems like having good pressure at the beginning and they could manage the ball possession and attacks much better than Leipzig. However after Mahrez could make a goal in the 27 minutes. This really made many people optimize so much that Man City would be able to win the match. But after waiting for a long time, their performance seems too boring and did not really give high pressure again. They did more mistakes and couldn't optimize the chances, they missed the chances. However, Leipzig also strengthened their defense much better. man City seems like having some trouble attacking Leipzig's defenses. Well, although this first-leg match result was quite disappointing, at least, they still have second chances in the second leg.

Manchester City controlled ball and the match very well but they wasted too many opportunities. It seems Haaland is not able to help Manchester City a lot in Champions League but I also consider about his decreasing performance in Premier League since World Cup 2022 and his injury.

A draw in the first leg is not the end of the world and the end of Manchester City adventure in Champions League. They still have the second leg at their home, Etihad and they can beat Leipzig there. However with performance of Leipzig in the first leg, Manchester City will not easily beat them after all. They are stronger can win the German club but their players must be careful as Leipzig can score goals any time like they did in the first leg.

Underrate Leipzig at your own risk, Leipzig is not a soft nut to crack. You have to play them with all seriousness or watch them do wonders to you, I wasn’t surprise seeing their performances in that game especially in the second half of the game. The attacking spirit and determination to resist defeat was something great. I love their team spirit.

It's very disappointing to see manchester city was not unable to win against leipzig. I think that if it's not a problem for city since 1-1 is good enough considering city was playing at red bull arena. The different result will be happening when leipzig must have played in the etihad stadium. I think that real performance of city will be happening when city played at home. The draw was giving city so many advantages over leipzig.

So far city was not also playing bad at red bull arena. City has been more dominating the ball possessions but it was not lucky enough. Both of teams are equal but we don't know how strong city to play in the etihad stadium.

As far as i know that city is always having a good record played in etihad.

Even though Chelsea and Tottenham lost in the first leg they still have a chance because their second leg will play in public itself so they have more motivation, only Chelsea is still in doubt because they haven't shown anything good so far, Tottenham with all their inconsistencies still has a chance because they only conceded 1 goal, so did City but for Liverpool it's just a miracle like you said and that miracle requires hard work to make four goals without conceding at Real Madrid home and that's like a dream that is difficult to come true.
However, if these four clubs fail to reach the quarterfinals, it will be very disappointing for EPL fans.

Manchester City became the fourth team from England to fail to win in the round of 16 against Leipzig last night. We know previously that there were Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool who also failed to win in this round. This result made me quite surprised that throughout the match Manchester City rarely got chances and they only scored goals through passing errors from opposing defenders, while Leipzig actually played quite well by scoring goals from a corner kick and being greeted by a header from Gvardiol. The result was a draw until the last minute and now the two teams have to fight again to get the aggregate points.

Pep Guardiola for 90 minutes also didn't make any substitutions, that's actually very unfortunate considering there should have been a refresher on the players so they could change the direction of the game more. Pep Guardiola and his players must rise at the Etihad Stadium later in the second leg so they can qualify for the quarter-finals.

What is the point of not substituting when you need to win? At times, Pep's team gambled too much and failed to score a winning goal because it lacked urgency, lazy back passes, and sustained offensive effort. Their current style of play irritates me. It was the same style of play that led them to draw with Nottingham Forest on Saturday. With that play, Pep, you cannot win a Champions League. In the second leg, Pep needs to be serious.

After the first half, I predicted that RB Leipzig would strengthen their attacks and focus on the counter-attack which they did. A draw is a very good result for the Geman side because they now have the opportunity to play with the hope of qualifying for the next round. Manchester City will be playing under pressure in Etihad because they wouldn't want to make any mistakes.

I heard a rumor that Inter Milan is considering sending Romelu Lukaku back to Chelsea because his wage bill and his performance are not commensurate. It seems the Belgian striker is proving them wrong. He has given Inter a huge advantage and I know the club management will be having a rethink.

It seems the German teams are performing far better than the English teams in this year's Champions League. The EPL teams might all be knocked out of this prestigious competition if they fail to improve in their next games.

Based on this game, I already said that the game between Manchester City and Leipzig will not be very easy. We enjoyed a really amazing game. Leipzig although a much weaker team than Manchester City today but their game was very enjoyable. Manchester City was very aggressive in the first half, but Leipzig shined in the second half. This match eventually turned into a draw in a hard-fought battle between the two teams. Manchester City and Leipzig result 1-1. All we can say regardless was a fantastic match that we enjoyed.

RB leipzig deserves to be appreciated. because they can come up with a different strategy for the second half. They adapted to the pattern of play shown by Manchester City in the first half. and the pattern of attack built in the second half by RB leipzig was outstanding and it worked to be an equaliser. And I think the Manchester City players in the second half looked tired too. what I saw was that there were no substitutions at Manchester city in that match. or maybe i missed it?

All other england teams except Liverpool have a decent chance to turn it around and pass into the next stage. The best chances Man City has ,but the worst  Liverpool by far and to me they are out of this tournament for sure,it would take a miracle for them to pass into the next stage.

Liverpool's chance is almost zero. Madrid was able making a crazy comeback when it played on anfield. The same thing gonna happen once madrid will be playing at home. This will be a very difficult situation for liverpool even though klopp may be motivated its players to win against madrid but it seems like that madrid was in the differnet level compared with liverpool. Anyone will be betting on madrid. Liverpool had no chance to win against madrid in the second leg. Klopp must accept its team must be stopped in santiago bernabeu

The kick off starts now even though they are currently playing away but I have no doubts about Manchester City especially with the current conditions.
Kevin De Bruyne was unable to play in this game but this did not weaken Manchester City and now the minutes went by it looked like Manchester City wanted to create conditions where they had to save more balls.

The absence of Kevin De Bruyne will certainly reduce creativity in the midfield, because the brain of Manchester City's game lies with the Belgian player. But of course Pep Guardiola has prepared an alternative to cover the hole left by KDB and it is clear that the scheme that will be played will be slightly different.

Manchester City are indeed very favored in tonight's match, but of course Leipzig will not just give up, they will definitely take advantage of all situations to win in the first leg which takes place at their own turf.

And it really happened, their condition in the first half was actually very good and with the advantage they scored very well in the first half, but disaster happened in the second half. I had already knew that the game would be difficult for Manchester city as Debruyne wasn’t in the line up. Manchester City players didn’t play Haaland at all, even when he makes timed runs they decided to play the ball backwards and rebuild and that's very unfair of them which will cost the team. No speed no urgency, lazy back passes, no serious sustained attack, who will tell Pep to be making changes early. At this rate any silverware will be a tall order. Poor play.

I can see Leipzig were performing better in the second half that they got several attempts to scores goals and it makes Leipzig can equalized the score but Leipzig missed the opportunities to win the match at home and this result was extremely unfavorable for them because for second leg they will playing away at Manchester City home and this would be hard match for them
And for Manchester City this result indeed not too satisfied because before the match most people including me predict they will overcomes Leipzig but at least they didn't lose from this match and for second leg i am sure Manchester City will performing better and win the match

There won't be any miracles; this is football, not some sort of place of worship where people pray for problems to be solved, and the best club that plays with smart strategy wins. Remember that Real Madrid is not Barcelona, who are more easily weaker during comebacks, so trying to make a comeback against them is impossible. Huge surprise to see how poorly English clubs have performed in the Champions League. It's terrible that in the round of 16 of the Champions League, no English club won their first leg. Even though this isn't too bad, the steps taken by Pep in this match really need to be questioned. He even forces his players for 90 minutes without substitutions if he really is that crazy to make this what he wants.
I think if he doesn't put his mind to the front and replaces a few players because there are still some people like Foden or Alvarez they can actually make the aggregate an advantage for them.

it's a little hard to understand what Pep is doing, but as far as he can see, it's already very good, even though the final result is not very profitable for them, but a draw is enough capital for Man City, who will play the second leg later at his own home.
Overall I see in this game which ended in a draw the luck factor was not in favor of Manchster City the truth is they have been able to control the game really well and apart from no substitutions made by Pep I don't think it is a problem.

Liverpool's meeting with Madrid in the top 16 phases was quite surprising. because indeed the two big teams are the ones who have the opportunity to meet in the final. but what happened of course made one of the two have to fall.
Liverpool has bad luck because their declining performance this season will be a burden against a team as strong as Madrid. Madrid has an extraordinary mentality and experience in European competitions. and they showed it against Liverpool.
