Manchester City became the fourth team from England to fail to win in the round of 16 against Leipzig last night. We know previously that there were Chelsea, Spurs and Liverpool who also failed to win in this round. This result made me quite surprised that throughout the match Manchester City rarely got chances and they only scored goals through passing errors from opposing defenders, while Leipzig actually played quite well by scoring goals from a corner kick and being greeted by a header from Gvardiol. The result was a draw until the last minute and now the two teams have to fight again to get the aggregate points.

Pep Guardiola for 90 minutes also didn't make any substitutions, that's actually very unfortunate considering there should have been a refresher on the players so they could change the direction of the game more. Pep Guardiola and his players must rise at the Etihad Stadium later in the second leg so they can qualify for the quarter-finals.

Manchester City controlled the game, but that did not allow them to win the match even though they had taken the lead in the first half. Entering the second half, Leipzig were bolder in going out to attack after in the first half they implemented a defense that was so deep, almost all of Leipzig's players were in their own defense area. I thought in the second half there might be an extra goal from Manchester City, but it was Leipzig who could score that goal. I failed to win when I bet this match.

Figured out that has been the case with Manchester City,from start to finish they basically control games,maybe score in first halve with hight hopes of scoring more,then missed chances,and one very loop hole in this man City team is when they are on attack as dey always do,they leave a lot of space behind the back,a very efficient team,with confidence could win them well with less shot on goal,just take chances.

You have not missed it. Leipzig will be facing a very difficult situation when it comes to the city's stadium. I just see city played without de bruyne looks very different compared when de bruyne was playing the game with city. The performance of city has been declining in the first leg.
There's no creative midfielder like de bruyne in city. Bernardo silve is not as good as what already expected before. Manchester city is so underperforming against leipzig.

I can only hope that de bruyne will be playing in the second leg. There must be also laporte. Laporte was not also playing in the first leg. City needs to come with its full squad to be able to defeat leipzig.

This clearly demonstrates that Madrid is really focused on this champions league, and right now in la Liga, their points are getting close to those of Barcelona. Leipzig played well throughout their home game, that was what they hoped for the most in the first leg.
Haaland was completely isolated throughout the match because it was difficult for the Manchester City players to find Haaland due to his high defensive line. It’s very displeasing that none of the English teams managed to win their first knock out game. Manchester city had the easiest fixture but they couldn’t get maximum points from that game. I’ve been watching Manchester city games this season and it’s obvious that they’ve not been playing like before. Manchester city this season are too open. They're solid when in possession, as the system is regulated and hard to penetrate. Yet when a disruptor comes along and they end up on the back foot, the system doesn't adjust. Really good teams exploit this. Tottenham and Chelsea can get their way back when they face their opponent in London next week. At least they were down with just a goal, so if they put in more effort, they can defeat them at home respectively.

Well i think the big problems for the english teams is the fact that the expectations are just way to high. The reason for those high expectations is probably the extremely high amount of money that the english clubs are getting from the tv licensing rights. Because of that huge amounts of money they are spending way to much money on transfer fees.
Just look at the transfers that FC Chelsea made in the winter for example. They have spent 121 Million € for Enzo Fernandez, who has a market value of "only" 55 Million €, but just because you have spent so much money for him does not automatically mean, that he is also performing like a 120 M € player.

The already conceded goals by Liverpool wouldn't help them in the next Anfield match, 3 goals is really a big goal for any team to make a comeback; had it been it is the other way round that Liverpool was the winner in the first leg, I would have been confidence that Real Madrid would try anything to beat Liverpool in that second round, that circle is too small to accomplish that mission when we all know that Real Madrid would seek for more goals that day.

Manchester City may actually have more goals in the next match against Leipzig because even by their ball possession, Manchester City had more, I don't know why Tottenham failed to score a goal with all the opportunity they had, perhaps the Penalty had them become weak for Milan but maybe second leg would be different.

Initially, I was quite optimistic that City would overthrow Leipzig with a landslide score in this match. moreover, City had taken the lead in the 27th minute by Riyad Mahrez's goal. Leipzig were forced to play open after City went ahead. in fact, City controlled 74% ball possession in the first half. however, to be honest, this match went a little beyond my prediction, even though City actually dominated the match until the match ended, but unfortunately, City had difficulty breaking through the Leipzig defense, which was quite disciplined.

Meanwhile, Leipzig as the home team showed quite impressive resistance. after falling behind earlier, Leipzig were much more aggressive than in the first half. they put up a fierce resistance, until in the end the home team was able to equalize at 1-1.
