Great Match Canada(1) vs. Morocco(2)... not the same with Belgium, it seems discouraged...

Lukaku could have a had a hattrick in the minutes I watched actually, and that wasn't even long, maybe last 20 minutes + injury time? To be fair, most of the chances that sort of fell to him weren't precisely what you'd call expected but Croatia keeper will end the night with some minor heart attack from what I saw.

Nice progress for Croatia, didn't think their defence could hold but now on to Spain (?) but I'm glad Morocco won the group, fully deserved.

The number of chances that all feel for Lukaku during those minutes of coming shows how much they needed a centre striker, but Martinez opted for the worse choice and the shortest of them all, why play Mertens as a centre when there's Batshuayi on the bench, I'm not Batshuayi apologetic but it's a no brainer to have Mertens in the role of a centre striker ahead, Belgium scored only one goal this tournament, despite their attacking varieties and it was no other person than Batshuayi who scored that goal. I think it's pretty much time that both Roberto Martinez and Henry step down from their positions as the coaches of the team, then end of an Era, The Wooden Generation..

I really don't know how Lukaku managed to miss all those chances. A proper in form striker would have scored at least 2 goals from them but this way works better for us so there is that

Don't know if you guys follow the career of Joško Gvardiol, but he had another excellent game and I am quite sure he will break down all transfer records for defenders when he leaves Leipzig. He seems perfect for Pep in the City and I don't see him leaving for anything less than 150M. He already plays like seasoned defender and he is only 20 years old, add to that the fact that he is one of the best, if not the best, centre backs with ball in his feet and only sky is the limit.

Croatia has passed the group stage thanks to Gvardiol and his excellent games as a defender. In the game against Belgium that was evident, especially when he took the ball off the Lukaku's leg. I saw that ball in the goal already and then suddenly Gvardiol showed up and denied Lukaku his shot. Impressive play by such a young player in such important game!

Hell, Modric got a 7.08 and De Bruyne a 7.2. Probably fair, however, I would have done the opposite (not only because I chose Modric   ) since the Croatian team reached the goal, but the Belgian team did not. In any case, I have already reached the next round, these are just my thoughts on the topic of the ratio of marks in a team sport.

Totally fucked here, and more, i was following in sofascore the score, so i went to check the correct page and notice De bruyne was "better" in whoscored, but in sofascore was better Modric.... who knows how they make that puntuation.

I see after in the summary bloody hell how much chances lost Belgium.

But this its football and you need to score.

it was a good game overall to watch, and cannot say that any team was much better, so draw is a best option, and Belgium has to leave (expected more from them TBH)

Morocco is first African country to top WC group in this century, congrats to them as well

bad luck for Spain in the end, will top the group and fight Croatia, while second team will have Morocco for next round (seeing Japan - Morocco would be great for Serbia, if we end up in next round, and eventually beat Portugal, open road to SF)

Modrić is playing an ok tournament but it looks bad by his own high standards. I had some "home emergency" so I couldn't watch the game with 100% focus and it was really close between Modrić and De Bryne. If one of those big Lukaku chances came from De Bruyne pass then it is more then objective to call him slightly better. But if we are talking about man of the match award, that one had to find its way to Gvardiol's hands.

Still can't believe how Lukaku did not score today. There is some incredible memes already running around

What a crazy results in World Cup today!
I could never imagine that Japan will win against Sapin and win first place in Group E, and that Germany will be out so early from World Cup.
And even less I expected to see Morocco being in first place in Group F, with Belgium going home.
There is some big problems with many national teams coming from Europe but I don't know what it is, maybe climate, maybe something else.

This round 3 I thought I would compete for second place with CLS63 since the first place Dittoup with 13 points and I don't know what happened from the 4th opponent, he did not participate since the 2nd round. And in that last round I don't know what happened to Dittoup who entered very late and I see that he has added 14 and it depends on Brazil not scoring 4 goals because he would already be eliminated (CLS63 has 14 and would add 15) and if there are still ties it depends on the question of tie-breaker.
Fortunately, I have added 15 points.

Ok, I agree with this, bad tournament is a bit of an overstatement.
What I meant by it is that I think that both Kovačić and Brozović have performed better so far and that Modrić has been our weakest starting midfielder.

That said - he's a fantastic player and his weak performances are still above average.

In my group I think Harkorede will win as he has 1 point more than me think my position looks safe in Round 3 as Germany scored 4 so Brazil has to score 5 for that to lose, doing better than I thought honestly and still Valencia has a chance for a correct point which Harkorede also has, so I'm happy we might enter tiebreaker

Hakan is out as also has Valencia, phew!

I just checked the points in my group and... Huh... It will be close. I thought that I'm rather safe with 13 points from the first two rounds, but now I see that mitchr4 got 7 points in the third round and he is only one point behind me. Buwaytress already passed me and he is sitting in the first place for now. Here is the current score for the group D:

EDIT: Actually no. @cryptofrka Strange indeed to watch KdB and Modric and say how poor they are, it's a compliment to their class that we can't even imagine them playing just above average.

It's safe to say all these stats have some bias to them, how the hell was Modric given the man of the match and not accumulate enough points against KDB who has been telling the world how much old the team has become  I wouldn't be surprised if admins aren't City fans

Lower your expectations mate, this world cup has produced several upsets and it wouldn't strike me if Cameroon held Brazil to a stalemate, maybe a win over the south Americans to proceed to the R16.

I need first goal in Brazil match after 19 minute to proceed to next round, or in case they score earlier, I need them to overcome Germany at 4 goals, or any other team tonight to score five goals (except for Brazil, I do not see any team capable doing that)

So, a bit of an overview before the last games:

Group A - Harkorede and slaman29 will fight it out for the 1st place but both have qualified
Group B - Slissy won the group with LTU_btc in 2nd
Group C - Woodie and inthelongrun a point ahead of morvillz7z, with different answers remaining so will be interesting to track.
Group D - slackovic and buwaytress to fight it out for 1st spot, big advantage to slackovic. mitchr4 out with 16 points, really unlucky to be placed here
Group E - Renato297 certain to qualify, probably from 1st spot. CLS63 and dittoup probably going to extra time - with dittoup being late for most of the 3rd round. Would be guaranteed 1st place if he remembered to play.
Group F - ralle14 and KTChampions to play for the 1st spot
Group G - Kanapka, casperBGD and icopress all on 14 points, if nobody scores more than 3 goals Kanapka is safe. If someone does, 3 players will wait for the last game, otherwise it is between icopress and casperBGD in the decider
Group H - vd309 and famososMuertos qualify, probably in this order

This was tough to calculate with points still in the game so I apologize if some mistakes were made. Do check it yourselves

Slissy is so great on this world cup. He/she really has outstanding performance in both of this tourney and the Superbru one. Damn this world cup really has so many unpredictable things.
