English is obviously not our first language as well but I really don't see how anybody who understands English and watches football on regular basis can have a problem with sentence like "will enter the game from the bench for Netherlands."

what bothers me is the deadline and first question? not sure how many answers did you get so far, but deadline is before match starts, and line-ups will be announced hour earlier, which would give main advantage to people the wait for deadline?
is this an omission, or you gave advantage to users that know fact about line-ups announced hour earlier, which should be fair, since knowledge is obviously power

The deadline is tomorrow before the 1st games. You can of course post the answers later, but you will lose points for all the games that have started.

Deadline is when first match kicks off, we are aware of that "problem" and if we caught it on time we would have asked different question for first game.

Simply not enough time to double check everything and we did not consider it as a big problem. That is just one out of 10 points and not a game changer. And as you have put it, it also requires some knowledge to make use of our lapse. We would avoid stuff like that in future just cause there maybe are some people from different time zones which could have problems submitting when line ups are known.

@slaman29 I believe almost all participants here don't have English as a first language (I'm trying really hard to think but I can't recognise anyone in the list who speaks English natively!) but I can almost guarantee that being on this forum and actually engaging with the language helps everyone in the long run. It is a fair point you brought up, though, if the idea was to attract absolute newcomers -- but as Cro2's pointed out (and in other conversation threads), the event was aimed for the most active forum users and football enthusiasts, so the terminology's not at all foreign to anyone who bets regularly on football.

For example, you see the cricket threads? I speak English well but I can't figure out 90% of the terms in cricket. But I'd bet there are even fewer native English speakers in those threads. But they know the game and all those cricket lingo which is mumbo jumbo to me, it's not for them. If they organised an event like this, I wouldn't participate, and fairplay, I shouldn't

On the format itself, I think this is already much more engaging that anything else -- I can imagine other even more fun formats but time-sensitivity does create a problem with a global participant base.

I entered my picks last night, without waiting to see lineups or injuries or whatever for Netherlands. Was I at a disadvantage? I don't think so, because I believe in myself hahaha

And sadly, after making so much hype about myself going into the competition, I was knocked out, and for the first time, this lucky bastard buywatress got his way, and Harkorede as uasul kept getting lucky, but wait for me nigga, I promise you I'll beat your ass in the UCL prediction pool.  BTW, congrats guys, you did an amazing job, especially with the MD3 questions.


I'm feeling like the German right now; I got hyped up before the game, was assigned to one of the easier groups, and was knocked out on the MD3. All of my favorite teams are almost gone, leaving only Argentina and Senegal.


Political aside, this has been one of the best world cup tournaments since the 1998, 2006, and 2010 world cups, with so much unpredictability, excitement, upsets, suspense, and so much more going on, and everyone is either upset or happy, big teams being on their toes for 90 minutes, don't let the EU/AU media tell you otherwise. This is only the beginning of what could be the best World Cup ever.

do not get me wrong, I do not think that someone here is forum elite, or everywhere for the matter (not sure how do you qualify elite, but I am striving to horizontal organizations whenever possible, without much elite and hierarchy)

but, as I said, IMO, all questions are properly worded to be easy to understand, and could be answered without a doubt (with all said, I missee both answers, so maybe I understood it wrong )

This reminded me to check how I stand versus my opponent inthelongrun and he already has a head start. He answered the second question about Australia conceding a goal correct and I got both of them wrong. We will see how today goes. I guess after today he will be two or three points in front of me or I'll take over the lead. May the best (or luckiest) man win!

You are correct, table is already updated and it seems that there is a lot of close pairings here and I expect we will need a tie breaker or two to settle all the games. Did not watch most of the games today since I had some obligations but from what i have seen, favorites really did not leave anything to chance.

Seems nobody wants the rewards since I only got a couple of PMs with BTC addresses so far, I know there is still a lot of time but better to take care of it sooner than later.

Same here, I was also one player off from getting that point but good thing I got the England question correct to maintain my lead.

My over 22 goals prediction is looking pretty good though, we're only halfway through and there are already 14 goals, 8 goals in the remaining games should be doable.
