I think that bitcoin will never be known to the whole world. He will remain popular only among some people. And this percentage of the population is not very large. Therefore, bitcoin will not become a global currency
I fully agree with this.
Bitcoin is becoming very popular, but only a small portion of people are really using it. None of my friends I know IRL uses bitcoins, and I'd never imagine my mom using it even if it became a currency of my country.

It all depends on how we will disseminate information about it. I also did not believe in bitcoin at first, but when I tried the advantages of this coin, I began to recommend it to everyone.

I'm not sure I would class some of those countries as 'major' ... but there is a general sense now that bitcoins are leaving the USA, and at an accelerating rate.

I also think same as you not sure if many country participate in situation but i predict someday bitcoin make global function in all country because its used in transaction and in paying also
I think right after one of this "major" countries will accept bitcoin on government's level other countries will follow one by one to not stay on the side of progress. I have heard that Russia plan to adopt bit coin in 2018 year. As always they want to be first, but we will see what kind of results it will bring to them.

In Russia, the situation with the cryptocurrency remains incomprehensible. And all plans remain only plans. They have long been trying to pass a law on the cryptocurrency, but they have not yet accepted it

I hope this issue about acceptance of bitcoin on Russia will be fix very soon. If I'm not mistaken they are one of those countries that prohibited bitcoin for a short period of time but suddenly they removed that precaution about bitcoin and instead right now they are trying to adopt, hope this will be good in no time.
Russia did ban bitcoin for a little while but as of November 2016 bitcoin is considered "not illegal"
Not sure where they are at with their btc tax laws

I can inform you on this matter

The Tax Service of Russia officially announced in their letter that they essentially had nothing to do with Bitcoin. In layman terms it means that they are not interested in going after Bitcoin users to levy taxes. This is what I have been telling for years myself here since collecting a Bitcoin tax (even though it is only a "subset" of an income tax, so to speak) would be a hell of a job for them. Now they made it pretty clear in an official manner
This gives the freedom to all the bitcoin users of Russia. Now they too doesn't need to fear of any taxation issues. As the country has clearly described about their expectations from the users as well the success of the technology. And no country gives such a freedom that they're not interested in following the users and levy taxes

It is actually not just about Bitcoin per se

In fact, any foreign currency is treated like that in Russia. Despite the fact that earnings obtained via currency conversion (exchange) operations are explicitly and unambiguously treated as income and thus taxable according to the Tax Code of Russia, this provision doesn't get actually enforced or applied in practice. How come? The reason is basically the same why Bitcoin is officially discarded by the Tax Service of Russia. It would still be a hell of a job to tax this income (as well as prosecute the incredible numbers of people that ain't gonna pay this tax no matter what), and it will likely incur substantially more costs in terms of work and hours spent than the amount of taxes thus collected. This is the reality, and the government has to cope with it. In other words, you can't demand what you can't enforce

It is too early in saying this though. Knowledge about Bitcoin is escalating especially now that countries such as Japan and Russia has been recognizing and legalizing it. It will caught the attention of many and the users of Bitcoin is not in one place but instead it is scattered everwhere in the whole world so in the end it is up to the people to not be ignorant and see this as a scam. As long as they are eager to learn new things and be open minded about it then most likely he will se the benefits of Bitcoin to their lives.

I completely agree with all the people here that bitcoin is already a global currency. Its is being used all over the world. But still bitcoin is not that popular. Still it has to reach a wide audience which do not even know the existence of bitcoin. I think there should be efforts by every bitcoin user to make it more popular.

Bitcoin is slowly being recognized as what it is, a currency, so it is natural more people are exchanging their fiat for bitcoin simply because it is easier to use and you don’t need to go through any kind of identity verification process unlike bank accounts.

Yes, this is one of the undeniable advantages of bitcoin. Anonymity now will not give any payment system that works with Fiat.
This attracts many people around the world. Bitcoin can now be called a serious global coin.
you should look at another side too , i have seen a lot of people really didn't like how bitcoin works with that anonymous way. for example few years ago in ebay forum most of them clearly against bitcoin and stated will never use bitcoin because of that reason. you know we have a difference preferences. bitcoin should have a universal complexion before it could be a real global currency.

I'm in 400,000 euros debt , dont help me , i rather die

Perhaps still not as much globally as you think. Because the fact is that only a certain number of people use crypto currency and there is no talk of mass use of speech.

Where to find relevant numbers of usage ? It is possible to know the order of magnitude of how many people own bictoins but it is important to know how many use bitcoins per day and per month : monthly active user and daily active usage.

Some imformations can be found on blockchain.info's charts here: https://blockchain.info/charts but as the above says, just looking at your environment, you can easily tell that bitcoin is  not used that globally .  We are still few compared to all the people in the world although you can use it almost globally . What I'm thinking is it is still not a global currency as not all country views it as a currency .

although the number of bitcoin users are few but i think they are present everywhere, i do not think that there will be a single country where the users of bitcoin will not available. and in this sense we can say that bitcoin is is universal currency and we are hopeful that the users of bitcoin will be increasing more and more.

Bitcoin is already a global currency in online space, but if it's applied to real currency obviously can not yet because it will damage the dominance of fiat in many countries. I think bitcoin will be a kind of stake in market trading, and not bound as a real currency. They are just as liquid as gold and other asset products.

You have a wrong observation about bitcoin as if bitcoin is being applied in the real world then it will also be a normal currency when all of the people of the world will adopt it then the liquidity of bitcoin will not be like that of gold as then it will act like dollar. It will have a fixed stable price and people will like to use it for their international dealings.

actually most of the people still do not know any thing about bitcoin, therefore it will take some more time when the local shopkeeper will also start accepting bitcoin for shopping and for so many other purposes.

You are right, Actually there is a lot of peoples doesn't know bitcoin. So i don't think bitcoin can become a global currency in the near future. It should share and introduce to peoples what is bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in generals.

What we need is for people to get to know Bitcoin above all knowing the technical details and learn how to deal with wallets and how to buy and sell.
What was the reason for people around the world to start using internet when it first was available to the public?

Bitcoin is the first of it's kind and actually we're the lucky ones knowing about it and as the time passes and more people find out about it it's value increases further more every day.

Even with the current price there is still time and it's not too late for us the lucky few to take the best advantages by holding as much as we can.

Bitcoin is already a global currency in online space, but if it's applied to real currency obviously can not yet because it will damage the dominance of fiat in many countries. I think bitcoin will be a kind of stake in market trading, and not bound as a real currency. They are just as liquid as gold and other asset products.
actually most of the people still do not know any thing about bitcoin, therefore it will take some more time when the local shopkeeper will also start accepting bitcoin for shopping and for so many other purposes.
You are right, Actually there is a lot of peoples doesn't know bitcoin. So i don't think bitcoin can become a global currency in the near future. It should share and introduce to peoples what is bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in generals.
but you can see that bitcoin users increasing and people take interest using of bitcoin because bitcoin is available in anywhere for shopping and i hope bitcoin will be sooner become a global currency in the future because adoption is on high value increasing .
Each year the growth rate is simply big than the past. This helps with the increased adoption and acceptance in all stores. Now too this is a global currency due to its exchanging availability to any currency as well can be used for cross border transaction which is not that easy with other currencies. So it serves as a global currency, but to to get the perfect shape time is required.
