Bitcoin has already become a global currency, It did this when it was trading on the Stock markets, yes as a stock, but also as a currency if you look at the stock exchange you have all currencies traded, and then the commodities market is also Bitcoin.  so it is in all levels of trade, and currency exchanges, this is what keeps it strong, and will make it stronger for days to come.

I think at this time yet. because bitcoin only well-known and popular on the internet, but the internet paypal also well known, and could even be said that paypal is the toughest rivals of the bitcoin. before conquering paypal, bitcoin has not been the best on the internet. laymen know about paypal but not with bitcoin. so I guess after bitcoin after the internet, and came out as paper money in the real world, then at the time that bitcoin will be recognized as a world currency, but this is just think  Smiley

I travel alot around the US and I have found that many places take bitcoin.  Restaurants, Hotels, I stopped at a truckstop a small private one and it took bitcoin.  When you start seeing bitcoin in small private businesses you know that major chains are going to take it up fast to keep up with the private businesses. Next time i will write down the names of the places that accept bitcoin so that way I can post it.

I would say bitcoin has always been a global currency since the 1st day it went live.
Think about it no matter where you were in the world as long as you had an internet conection and knew at least one other person with a wallet then you could send coins to each other.

Obtaining coins in say 2009 would not have been easy from most countries so i guess you could say that is becoming global.

At it start it has global potential, but since a few years it has become globally used. Which means progress.
In the future years to come i expect this to grow exponentially.

It has an potential to grow hugely but it doesn't promise that people will stop using fiat and will only use bitcoin for their day to day spendings, that is simply impossible.
Bitcoin will never replace fiat in any country around the world but it can and does get used by some for day to day spending.

I know a few people that make about 90% of all purchases and pay bills by bitcoin only.
If your like me and just hate banks then i try use bitcoin to pay for as much as i can.

If it does end up being used as paying bills aren't they afraid of the volatility of bitcoin. Not really useful as payment if it fluctuates so much.
I already pay a lot of my bills with bitcoin, i also pay my rent each fortnight with btc, granted i am using a third party for these payments because until these utilities companies can pay their own bills and employees with btc they will never accept bitcoin as a payment method.

Im surprised nobody keeps a central directory you can reference on a phone or something.   I guess it would draw in some custom to be listed there, possibly a yellow pages type form of advertising for somebody who kept this upto date.   Maybe google is so good its not required exactly

Yap, I recently payed electric bills too. But the staff was confused on my payment system that i was referred to their IT guys and a lot of hustle occurred because its not really a tradition in my place the online transactions.

And i think if the times comes when the government recognizes btc, they gonna put tax on it.

Our government has already recognised that they can tax your bitcoins, actually they used to double tax them up till not long ago.
We used to have to pay 10% gst tax to purchase coins and then another 10% gst tax to spend them, I'm glad the government finally woke up to themselves and changed that rule.

What country are you in?

According to me bitcoin current progress is very rapid(adoption), the more people who know what it bitcoin, how it works, and its superiority compared to paper currency, and certainly will be the currency bitcoin priority someday

But in theory, it's also a global currency for being accepted as a payment from stores all over the worls. Wheareas for them to accept a FIAT currency from a certain country, they'd have to use third party services to convert them to their currency of preference. Thing is though, it's value is still based on FIAT currency and that's unlikely to change.

Lol, its becoming?

It already is a global currency, you can buy and sell thing with it everywhere around the world!!
yeah everyone in the world could use bitcoin is no exception of course it can be regarded as a global currency and all users from different countries use the same currency that is bitcoin. But the global currency should be able to include all human beings. but now users are still very few. I think we not yet achieve global currency

Yeah every people should know what bitcoin is and where they can sell or buy things with bitcoin as of now we are the only ones who know about bitcoin and people outside doesnt even bother to know what bitcoin is.
Yes I also think that it is now already a Global Currency,as you can see you see that the value of Bitcoin is not even rising now so that is not bad but many people are using it.
And that is why it made a global currency Bitcoin is already used all over the world and that is nice.

I can say nowaday bitcoin is global currency because many user onlines do wallet to wallet transaction. And people used it to pay jobs online and investments some or other pays bitcoin to buy goods. Maybe for those who dont know bitcoin maybe their now aware for this global curriences existance and hoping to reach to more global online geeks.

Bitcoin is on its way to become a global currency the advantage Bitcoin is, is that if you have internet you can make use of Bitcoin. The only thing that it misses is paper money.
I strongly agree with this many people say bitcoin has become a global currency but I have not seen bitcoin in use by many people in the world.
although we all know that bitcoin has strong capital to become a global currency and defeat the dollar.
but all of them are still in the stage of "on the way":

the thing is... Bitcoin is already a global currency. Aside from Bitcoin only gold can be compared to a global currency. Bitcoin is the perfect toll for international transactions
I think it is still very young to say that bitcoin is an international currency? bitcoin still under paypal and gold in the movement of the market each year. so bitcoin still need to progress more rapidly again to be a global currency.
global currency must necessarily be greater than the dollar right ?

I also think its highly unlikely it will take a lot of years to accomplish this, most likely it will not be accomplished this couple years.
I really think the bitcoin would need a lot more years to do this, maybe even more than 15 years..
No, 15 years is too much time for it , bitcoin will become a global currency within only 5 years or less, or maybe 7 years will be enough, as now the time is of digital business and everyone will prefer bitcoin once it establish.

I also believe that Bitcoin will be the world currency) Although what will? Is it not the world? How many people around the globe use it in various parts of our country.
The technology has prompted many to review the current situation in the world of payments.
What is the future of Bitcoin? Definitely bright)
I really hope that I am not mistaken about that.

Yes, currently dollar is a global currency and if some other currency want to be the global currency it must have to be necessarily more greater than dollar.
Yeah, it is currently too young to be the global currency of the world , but if we look at the increasing rate of adoption of bitcoin, I think the time is near when it become a global currency.
