Well, the first UEFA Champions League 2023/2024 matchday has just ended. There was a lot of exciting drama, a shower of goals, surprises, even a saving goal from a goalkeeper on this first matchday.

One thing that stands out is Arsenal's 4-0 victory over PSV and Barcelona's 5-0 victory over Royal Antwerp. There was also a rain of goals in the Bayern Munich vs Man United match which was marked by a blunder by the MU goalkeeper, Onana. Finally, many voices emerged, was it right to buy Onana??

I think it was the wrong decision to bring Onana to Old Trafford and even though in the end his performance was not as expected, Erik ten Hag also has to take full responsibility for the series of defeats suffered by Manchester United. Onana was only good at Inter last season and at Manchester United he has been the source of endless problems so far.

It is very regrettable why David De Gea had to leave Manchester United, even though his performance last season was very stable as the main goalkeeper. There isn't even the slightest good intention from Erik ten Hag or management to keep him. Anything about PSG is still remain unsafe until PSG would able to create huge point gaps to the competitors. There are still some clubs like newcastle and acmilan that would be the main threats for PSG.

How do y'all watch football? Blasting Onana means you focus on stats and errors. You do not watch him closely and what he brings to Manchester United defense. We'll see the best of Onana when the midfielder's and defenses put heads together to do them jobs.

I agree with you. Firstly getting 1 point in an away match can be considered as a good result in Champions League. And Newcastle managed to gain 1 point. Secondly I would say after a long time the team is playing on a big platform like Champions League. Players are more excited and at the same time they are under pressure. It is much more difficult to perform well against a big team like Milan. Newcastle team managed to stop Milan. If Newcastle can somehow qualify for the knockout rounds, it will be a huge achievement for them. But my guess is Newcastle will finish third in the table. And will play in this season's Europa League.

Based on my point of view, Newcastle's playing pattern is not much different from last season. Even though they have brought in newcomers, it is not enough to make this team stronger. It would be very lucky if Newcastle played with a draw, in fact there were no goals in this match. and supposedly, AC Milan should have defeated its opponent in that match. It looked more like it was an administrative issues that led to the release of David de gea even with his good record and performance through out last season which was not bad at all, he kept as many clean sheets as he could and had as minimal conceding of goals as possible, his records we indeed one which if put to consideration enough would have still kept him at old Trafford.

Oh really? Where Ronaldo fans wishing Manchester United bad luck because he left the club? That’s surprising though. There’s a point a goalkeeper in a club will get to when if he can’t be able to reach the standard or fulfill the rights on him for the team, then he should be blamed. Some blather leads to improvement of some players, if they’re not corrected and told the truth they keep doing what they wish at the expense of the team’s success, which is very bad. Onana should be given some time for improvement before he will be bullied by fans.

Don’t always put the blame of a team on one person, especially the goalkeeper. Many factors should be considered before concluding that he’s actually the one. We all know that the team are having issues with the defense and if that is not fixed yet, the goalkeepers fault will be seen continuously. This is time for encouragement and talk boosters for the team and not time to blame anyone.

Onana was only the average goal keeper, but he was not lucky enough to be placed in a team that was also having horrible defenders. The chance is small but seeing some big clubs were also getting easiest run in the group stage like barcelona, real madrid or even bayern was making me feel so badly about that. PSG is almost impossible to winning the UCL this season. There are too many big clubs competing in play off soon.
There will be some may also be eliminated from the group stage to go to the europa league. Earning three points in the first match is not yet making PSG's position safe. Even though enrique was experienced players but we must also aware about how PSG was always facing difficulty when it was getting draw to face some strong clubs like real madrid and bayern. PSG potentially to face them all in the play off stage. It's very bad to see that caused by the chance becomes even smaller.

Real Madrid is a club for beauty football and they usually focus on their attacking area more than defensive area. With that strategy, Real Madrid have more attacking star players than defensive midfielders and defenders. They usually have abundant options at their front line but this season, losing Benzema when they did not have much time to buy good strikers to replace him. It is about time and money as well as their interest in Mbappe. They want to have Mbappe and feel like they can wait one more season to get him.

Eventually, Joselu is their choice as a temporary replacement for Benzema in the mean time of waiting Mbappe who is expected to join them next summer. So far, Joselu plays at acceptable level and Real Madrid attacking system will be better when Vinicius returns to their squad.

I think they shouldn't do it like that because if they are busy attacking and don't focus their defensive strength then when there is a counterattack they certainly won't be ready to stop it. For the best game, of course they must be able to align their best level of strength in each line to be able to control their game in a balanced manner in every match.

This season, Real Madrid defense is still quite strong even without Courtois, but they are able to defend themselves well under any pressure put on them by their opponents. I agree with you that Real Madrid has a more beautiful level of play in every match. Ancelotti was able to organize the team as well as possible this season even though they needed some additional strength in their positions but Ancelotti was able to make the gap seem invisible.
