I think that those players who bet on sports and naturally win more often compared to those players who simply buy the lottery, for the most part, are simply smarter and more prepared people.  Especially those players who follow sports events and can analyze the probabilities of winning or losing their favorite teams or athletes.  So it's like two very different groups of the population.  And by the way, most likely those players who bet on sports are less worried about losing than those who play the lottery for the reason that they win an order of magnitude more often than lottery players. 
But so many people still buy lottery tickets and lose so much that it almost becomes their endless losing.  In this sense, the players in the sport are in a much more privileged position and their game is much more interesting in my opinion.

So it's different because it could be that people who bet on sports have more chances of winning than people who buy the lottery. But that doesn't stop people who bought the lottery from moving into sports betting, especially if they think that their knowledge of sports is minimal and they don't even know who will be playing or how to place bets on sports betting.

There is no fun in playing the lottery my friend, that is buying lottery tickets, I mean, this basically just involves guessing some random (maximum 5 numbers for most i know of) numbers usually from 0 to 99, then paying for it and having the numbers printed on small piece of paper usually called a ticket, which will be handed over to you to keep save - for me, there is nothing fun about doing this, those who are betting on sports, and those who are playing slot or casino games, are truly the ones that are having fun, this for those who see this activities as having fun by the money, for there are many who care more about the money than the fun derived from this activities..

Well, of course, when you made a bet on some sports team, in whose victory you believe, and even more than that, you conducted some kind of your own analysis of the probability of winning it based on your knowledge of the history of games and the victories of this team.  Naturally, adrenaline rises in the blood.  It's definitely a lot more emotional and interesting during a match, and definitely more fun than just the stupid spelling of five double digits in the lottery.  Well, what kind of pleasure can there be comparable to what you have during a match.  These are incommensurable things. 
So the lottery does not bring anything good except maybe some kind of crazy expectation that the dream of a giant win and wealth that will at least someday come true.

I thought why do they keep buying these tickets when they know it hurts them? there was nothing fun about it, I don't know how lotteries are in other countries, but in my country people who play lotteries are not happy people when they hear the results, and that's why I don't see the lottery as a good thing , I don't like lotteries and I stay away from lotteries. We still can't ignore the fact that most of those people have got lucky due to those lottery tickets and when people saw those lucky ones they also decided to test their luck by purchasing the lottery tickets. Some people have earned a lot of money from those lottery tickets and a few of them are very rich only because of the tickets they bought.

I think that liking and disliking of a thing is someone's own choice because sometimes we prefer one thing while others prefer something else. It is the same with some news: sometimes we listen on television about a recent plane crash, for example, and in consequence the number of tickets sold by different airlines go down for some months. If they informed about the probability (0,00...%) instead the fear would be much less. The effect is the same here, but in the other direction, but it is scientifically proven the effect of these news in people's behaviour.

Gambling should really be done for fun but since we are just human beings who do really have that love for money then it wont really be shocking that you would really be doing sort of things or decisions which would really make you bet on what you do usually be able to do or something that do talks about on extreme extent or something that you arent really that you usually do.
